What is our primary use case? Currently, my main use case for HPE Zerto Software is for failover. We have a site in Salt Lake City and another data center in Oregon. We fail over from this site to that site, verify, and fail things back. This is its main purpose as of today. What is most valuable? The feature of HPE Zerto Software that I appreciate the most is the ability to pick and choose what to fail over and when to failover. It is really easy to build a new zone and add servers, as well as remove them. An example of how the features of HPE Zerto Software have benefited my organization was when we lost a circuit. We have a primary circuit from Salt Lake over to Portland and a backup one that runs through several different sites. We actually lost the main one and had to failover. Because most of the servers are in Salt Lake City, we had to replicate those back over to Portland because that is where they make the money. I had a few minor hiccups, but it was not our fault. It was just bandwidth, but we now have a larger pipe. That was a happy accident when we discovered why it was not going any faster - we were maxed out. What needs improvement? I find HPE Zerto Software to be pretty intuitive as it is, and I have nothing to suggest for improvement. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using HPE Zerto Software for about four years now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the stability and reliability of HPE Zerto Software at about 20. It just works. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? HPE Zerto Software scales with the growing needs of my organization. The only issue I have ever encountered was when our developers grew busy and expanded their applications too quickly for licensing. That was resolved with a simple phone call. We received the new key by end of day after discussing how many additional licenses were needed. How are customer service and support? I would evaluate customer service and technical support for HPE Zerto Software as exceptional. They listen first, then ensure they understand the problem before providing multiple solution alternatives. Having been in computing for almost 35 years, they are one of probably two or three companies that truly listen first. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I was using another solution to address similar needs prior to adopting HPE Zerto Software, but I am not sure what it was. How was the initial setup? My experience with pricing, setup, costs, and licensing for HPE Zerto Software has been positive. The installers were knowledgeable and completed the installation correctly the first time. When we upgraded from VMware 6 to version 7, we needed to install a new agent. When it did not work initially, technical support quickly resolved the issue with specific instructions in just one call. What was our ROI? I have seen an ROI with HPE Zerto Software through faster recovery. We are getting closer to the five nines. Having the confidence that if something happens, our documented steps will work is invaluable. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I have personally used Veeam before selecting HPE Zerto Software, but having only been with the company for five years, I am not sure what solutions were used before that. What other advice do I have? HPE Zerto Software is important to my organization because when performing replication, both systems remain functional during failover until the final switch. This results in virtually no downtime. HPE Zerto Software has helped reduce downtime by at least 25% through faster recovery. For instance, if we lose an image, we can quickly recover it and power the VM back on, which is much better than retrieving a golden image that could take hours. The solution has impacted my RTOs and RPOs significantly, saving me approximately two hours per day. It has also reduced our DR testing frequency from every other month to twice a year. Regarding Cyber Vault solutions, the most important capability would be the ability to isolate a server immediately after a ransomware attack to investigate the incident. My advice to other organizations considering HPE Zerto Software is to consider its ease of integration. It integrates seamlessly with various networks and works especially with HP infrastructure. The support from both HP and HPE Zerto Software teams is excellent. I rate HPE Zerto Software 10 out of 10. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? What is our primary use case? We use HPE Zerto Software for disaster recovery, resiliency, and peace of mind. How has it helped my organization? It provides peace of mind, it allows us to feel confident knowing that the data protection platform is in-place and allows for rapid recovery in the event of data integrity failures, or platform disruptions. What is most valuable? The contextual help and simulation of HPE Zerto Software are the most valuable features. HPE Zerto Software's continuous data protection or CDP is critical for our organization because it allows us to recover within seconds to minutes, and the journal allows us to pick a point-in-time recovery. The journal allows us to recover from a point in time before an event occurred. What needs improvement? I cannot think of any ways HPE Zerto Software needs improvement, as I have used it at a previous company as well, and it is a reputably reliable platform. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using HPE Zerto Software for over several years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I have not experienced any downtime, crashes, or performance issues with HPE Zerto Software; it is a reliable platform and it is very well-engineered. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? HPE Zerto Software scales with the growing needs of our organization. How are customer service and support? HPE Zerto Software's customer service and technical support have been fantastic. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We used Veeam as our previous solution and we switched to HPE Zerto Software to ensure that we had a mutable backup, as well as synchronous replication. How was the initial setup? I don't perform setup and initial configuration, another team does that. What was our ROI? That amount of downtime would cost our organization in the millions. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I don't operate in this vein of the business. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Veeam, Rubrik, ASR. What other advice do I have? HPE Zerto Software's recovery speed is very fast and reliable compared to the disaster recovery solution we used before. I would rate HPE Zerto Software overall as a ten; it is a fantastic product. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Hybrid Cloud Disclaimer: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
What is our primary use case? We have two data centers, so we use HPE Zerto Software for site recovery. We fail over, run out of one data center, then we fail back and run out of the other, and we do failover testing. How has it helped my organization? We were using VMC on AWS with VMware replication. The challenge was it had a five-minute RTO and we wanted something faster. At the time, HPE Zerto Software didn't support VMC on AWS, which was actually our first choice. Then we had a mandate to build a new data center. We wanted both physical locations, so we went that direction and decided to go with HPE Zerto Software. We wanted something that we could fail over quickly, have minimal recovery times, and make sure that we could come up quickly. We use the move feature in HPE Zerto Software probably the most, moving from data center to data center. It allows us to meet with our compliance regulations to test our DR site and run in our DR site with seamless operation. We've proven a few times that we can fail over within a very short window, and it works very well. Our RTO with HPE Zerto Software is less than five seconds. It is extremely important. We work in the financial industry, and being able to fail over and know that we can bring that server up within a very short window and that the data is going to be accurate means we're not having to go back and rework a day's worth of data. That's what we wanted and that's what we got. What is most valuable? The failover test option in HPE Zerto Software is the most valuable at this point since we can validate that things are going to come up, that the data is valid, and then tear it back down without having to interrupt the users. It's extremely easy to use HPE Zerto Software. Our first failover test went flawlessly. We failed over our entire data center, approximately 200 VMs in half an hour - very fast. This last fast failover, we ran into a couple of hiccups. Working with support, we found we need to do more testing in between our main failovers since we've actually had an 11% failure rate of things not coming up. They advised us to test, validate, and then resync if needed, so we're learning from it. We haven't experienced any ransomware yet with HPE Zerto Software. Regarding time savings, it has definitely been beneficial. Once we've got it set up and can manage it, it really is a time saver. We haven't had a situation where we've had to use it to reduce downtime. Comparing it to our other failover solution, the speed is notable. We used to schedule an eight-hour day to do this, and now we're scheduling a half an hour, which saves us significant time on weekends. Regarding RTOs and RPOs with HPE Zerto Software, we can look at it and know exactly where every VPG is regarding recovery time. The speed to move it over and bring it up is extremely efficient for us. The solution has helped reduce our organization's DR testing. Previously, we would isolate our DR and test in a defined bubble just to validate the data was there and users could access it. Now we can fail it over to our backup data center and actively run there. We can fail it back and run both locations in an active-active mode with HPE Zerto Software, which we hadn't been able to do before. It has allowed us to trim the team down and focus on other tasks without constantly worrying about disaster recovery. We know it's there and we can validate and test it through our monthly procedures. What needs improvement? When we did our test this year with HPE Zerto Software, we had some failures that we weren't expecting. The challenge was realizing there was data corruption, and fortunately we found it before we committed the failover, so we could fail back. We could resync it, and we weren't in an actual disaster. If there's any way to validate that data on the recovery site without having to manually go in and do failover testing and try to validate, that would be a feature that would be really nice. We're not sure why we had some corruption, however, we did the resync and it seemed to bring it back up and fix the problem. That's probably the biggest area I'd ask about - some way of validating the recovery sites in an automated fashion. For how long have I used the solution? We started using HPE Zerto Software in April last year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? We haven't had any crashes or performance issues with HPE Zerto Software, except trying to figure out why we had some data corruption. Overall, it seems to be functioning very well. Support's biggest recommendation was that we just need to do more failover testing and validate. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have not expanded our usage of HPE Zerto Software. How are customer service and support? The customer support I received from HPE Zerto Software has been very good. I haven't had any complaints about the support we receive. I would rate it a nine or ten. When I ask them a question, they give me a very quick response. How would you rate customer service and support? Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We were using SRM before selecting HPE Zerto Software. From attending different conferences, HPE Zerto Software was where I wanted to get to, however, at the time, our disaster recovery site wasn't allowing for it. Comparing SRM to HPE Zerto Software, I really prefer using HPE Zerto Software. It's easier to group, set up. I can see really quickly what things are doing and I feel a lot more comfortable that things are working. How was the initial setup? Setup was extremely fast, and we had the system up and running within a couple of days. Our biggest hold-up was getting the network configured correctly. For training, we were able to take some online courses that got us up to speed very quickly. What about the implementation team? During the setup for HPE Zerto Software, we were working with a technician who could walk us through it and that worked really well for us. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Since we just got HPE Zerto Software, our pricing didn't seem too high. Our renewal is next year. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We used SRM before adopting HPE Zerto Software to address similar needs. What other advice do I have? My rating for HPE Zerto Software would be ten out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Amazon Web Services (AWS) Disclaimer: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
What is our primary use case? My main use case for HPE Zerto Software is ransomware protection, so basically, the entire environment is replicated. How has it helped my organization? It's helped protect us and give us recovery from ransomware. We're only allowed about an hour of downtime before we need to start making calls. Zerto features of HPE Zerto Software benefit my organization by allowing it to be set and forget. Once it's operational, I just check it every once in a while to make sure it's still working. If I make a new machine, I add it to the group to get replicated and that's it. It requires very little maintenance. What is most valuable? What I appreciate the most about HPE Zerto Software is that it works. I'd rate the ease of use four out of five. It's fairly easy to use. The near-sychronous replication is good, even though we don't need that fast of a replication. If I have an application crash, I can step back a week and get back what I need. Zerto positively impacted our RTOs and RPOS. Before Zerto, it would take us four days to recover. Now, we're looking at a couple of hours. Compared to other solutions, like Veeam, the biggest difference is that, though it is very simple, it doesn't have in-built security. We haven't DR tested it yet. I'll bring up machines, however, this is a completely different solution than what we had. We build a complete Vault around Zerto. We made our own Cyber Vault. The most important capability for that is the air gap. What needs improvement? HPE Zerto Software can be improved by allowing a system inside my makeshift vault to reach out to the other system and pull backups inside, which would let me punch fewer holes. Currently, my understanding is you have to have two systems that are interconnected. Based on how I've built it, if I could have a system inside my makeshift vault reach out to the other system, that would be more secure. Right now, both systems have to talk to work. We've completely rebuilt our infrastructure inside, including firewalls and everything, inside a basic vault. It has the same concept. For that system to replicate, we have to have holes in the firewall for the outside system to reach in to connect to the HPE Zerto Software inside. A lot of the wording isn't very clear. If you don't know what you're looking at, it just oesn't make sense when you are setting it up. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using HPE Zerto Software for three months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? My assessment of the stability and reliability of HPE Zerto Software is that I haven't had any issues yet. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? HPE Zerto Software scales with the growing needs of my organization in that it's all about the licenses. I have not yet expanded usage of HPE Zerto Software, however, that is actually in my budget for next year. How are customer service and support? I would evaluate customer service and technical support for HPE Zerto Software as awesome. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the customer service and technical support for HPE Zerto Software as nine. The reason for my rating is that they've been very responsive. I think sometimes there's a little bit of a gap in communications, but usually, it's not too significant a deal. How would you rate customer service and support? Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Prior to adopting HPE Zerto Software, I was using another solution to address similar needs, which was StoreEver. How was the initial setup? The deployment model for HPE Zerto Software is that we have two data centers that are basically stacked as one in diverse locations. When we rebuilt and built the HPE Zerto Software system, we built it the same way. We have it stretched across two data centers, so we have high availability across two data centers times two, essentially. What about the implementation team? My experience with deploying HPE Zerto Software is that we paid for deployment. We paid for the full service and initial setup. Honestly, that was worth it. It cost as much as the licenses, however, having somebody to be there, walk you through it, find all the loopholes and the menus that aren't quite clear was valuable. There are a few of those products. Morpheus was the same way. What was our ROI? I have seen an ROI on HPE Zerto Software based on estimates of what it would cost us to recover from ransomware. That was the whole use case for getting it - determining what it would take if we had to recover, how much it would cost us, and what our man-hours would be. That's what justified this whole project. This project is just to see how it works. If we it, then we'll expand on it. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing for HPE Zerto Software is that for what you get, it's pretty cheap. We did 50 VMs as a trial case, and it was a small portion of our overall budget. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Before selecting HPE Zerto Software, I considered Commvault. We are a Commvault customer and use it for backups. We also have the HP StoreEver tape system, a very large tape system. That was the chosen ransomware protection. When you're going for tape, you're in a difficult situation. Tapes work, but if you're having to rebuild from that, it's going to take literal weeks. We needed something faster. What other advice do I have? The advice I would give to other organizations considering HPE Zerto Software is to think about your use case. For us, it didn't make sense until we had the hardware and the desire in place. We had a solution that was workable, but the cost was justified when the business decided they needed a more guaranteed recovery time. A little bit better communication stood out in my evaluation process of HPE Zerto Software. We tried to get more information from the sales team and we had to do a lot of research on our own. The implementation has been very good though. I rate HPE Zerto Software ten out of ten. Disclaimer: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
What is our primary use case? My main use cases for HPE Zerto Software are disaster recovery and replication. What is most valuable? The features of HPE Zerto Software that I enjoy the most are the ease of setting up the protection groups and the ease of doing testing, such as failover tests. The near-synchronous replication is crucial as we don't want any data loss, which is critical. The quick setup of disaster recovery environments helps streamline our DR testing. HPE Zerto Software has reduced both my RTOs and RPOs. Its recovery speed is much faster than other disaster recovery solutions and much easier to use. I can recover one of our tier zero SQL servers and have it up and running in under ten minutes. If I were using one of our backup products, that would take hours. It has helped to reduce the time it takes for our organization's DR testing, reducing it by days. The big benefit is that I can set up that environment and people can test, but if something happened and we needed to redeploy that environment, it's very quick and easy. It has reduced the overall time for the DR testing, including the testing process to make sure the applications are working. HPE Zerto Software, as far as the replication, had near-synchronous replication, which made our RPOs better. It was easier to use, easier to recover from, so it was far superior for that purpose. Prior to adopting HPE Zerto Software, we were using our backup system to test DR. What needs improvement? I don't have any recommendations regarding how HPE Zerto Software can be improved or what additional features should be included in the next release. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using HPE Zerto Software for a year and a half, about 18 months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I have experienced issues with downtime, crashes, and performance with HPE Zerto Software. When we first deployed it, we were replicating to AVS, and we've done DR tests where we've left that test environment running for a significant period and had issues with the amount of storage space it was using. Sometimes the VMs become unstable when they're running too long. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? HPE Zerto Software scales well with the growing needs of my organization because we haven't had any issues there. How are customer service and support? I would evaluate customer service and technical support for HPE Zerto Software as good. Any case I've opened, they've been very responsive. I would give them a ten out of ten. They're very responsive and knowledgeable. They've helped me with all my issues. How would you rate customer service and support? How was the initial setup? I found the deployment to be easy. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? My experience with pricing, setup costs, and licensing for HPE Zerto Software was great. It was not overly expensive, and deployment was easy. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Before selecting HPE Zerto Software, I considered Rubrik, which has orchestrated recovery plans, and we've tried using those. HPE Zerto Software was much easier to use. What other advice do I have? The solution has not helped to reduce downtime in any situations. The advice I would give to other organizations considering HPE Zerto Software is to do it. If you need a good recovery product, HPE Zerto Software is fantastic. I rate HPE Zerto Software a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Hybrid Cloud Disclaimer: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
What is our primary use case? My main use case for using the HPE Zerto Software is disaster recovery. How has it helped my organization? The ability to fail workloads over between data centers has benefited my organization significantly. HPE Zerto Software's continuous data replication is very important to my organization. What is most valuable? The features I appreciate the most about HPE Zerto Software are the automated failover and orchestration, and then the journal for point-in-time recovery. I don't use HPE Zerto Software directly; it's used by my team, however, they're very complimentary of it. It's easy to use and does what it says. HPE Zerto Software has impacted my RTOs or RPOs, and the recovery speed has improved significantly compared to other disaster recovery solutions I've used; it's been really good. An example is that our snapshots were only every 15 minutes, but with HPE Zerto Software replication, our recovery times are in seconds, not minutes. The solution has helped to reduce my organization's DR testing. I do not know by how much. We haven't reallocated the time saved to other tasks; it just allows us to do more DR testing and recovery, enabling us to go faster in that space. I am currently using a cyber vault solution for immutable data copies to ensure recovery from a cyberattack. We have multiple solutions: we use Commvault, Cloud MRR, and we also use safe mode on all of our pure storage. When considering a cyber vault solution, cost is probably the most important factor first, and then simplicity to implement. What needs improvement? To improve HPE Zerto Software, I would suggest that the upgrade process is a little bit average and challenging at the moment, rather than necessarily adding features. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the HPE Zerto Software for two and a half years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I assess the stability and reliability of HPE Zerto Software as being fine. I only had one small issue a while ago, and that was fixed eventually; it was just one small issue. It didn't cause an outage. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? To date, HPE Zerto Software has scaled fine for the growing needs of my organization. I have expanded usage. The expansion process was very smooth. How are customer service and support? I evaluate the technical support for HPE Zerto Software as okay, about average. On a scale of one to ten for technical support/customer service, I would give them a seven. How would you rate customer service and support? Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Prior to adopting HPE Zerto Software, I was using another solution that addresses similar needs: storage replication. The factor that led me to consider a change was capability. How was the initial setup? We didn't really go through an evaluation process, so I can't elaborate on what stood out in that regard. What about the implementation team? We used a partner to support us, and it took us a while to get it working. Now it's embedded and it's working. What was our ROI? I have not seen a return on investment with HPE Zerto Software, and nothing specific comes to mind. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? My experience with the pricing, setup costs, and licensing has been fine. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Before selecting HPE Zerto Software, I considered just standard backup solutions. What other advice do I have? My advice to another organization considering using HPE Zerto Software is to go for it. Overall, I would rate HPE Zerto Software a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
What is our primary use case? Our main use cases for HPE Zerto Software are primarily to provide our customers with their DR solutions and to facilitate migrations, either from on-prem to the cloud or data center to data center migrations. What is most valuable? The feature of HPE Zerto Software I prefer the most is the test feature, which allows you to test an environment in a bubble without having to affect production. It allows you to test your DR strategy without having to actually do a full DR test. These features have benefited our organization by allowing the customers to really be able to write out their runbook, test it, and make sure that they're meeting compliance, whether that's every six months or a year test. My impressions of HPE Zerto's near-synchronous replication are that it's an amazing feature that customers love. Even though it's set at five minutes, it's actually typically lower than that for most environments, and customers love the ability to have failover capabilities within seconds. The ease of use for the solution is pretty straightforward. What made us stick with HPE Zerto is that it is just a fantastic product and was a great product to add to HPE's portfolio. The solution has helped to reduce downtime in situations; it gave us the ability to roll back a bad change that was made. It was days' worth of changes that had been made. That amount of downtime would probably have cost the organization tens of thousands of dollars. HPE Zerto Software has impacted our RTOs and RPOs effectively in a positive way where other solutions take longer; the board is happy with the speed for us to be back online. The solution has definitely helped reduce our DR testing and automate it, although I do not know those numbers off the top of my head. What needs improvement? With the current updates primarily on the Azure side of it, documentation could be improved. That's not necessarily Zerto's problem since Azure is constantly changing things; Zerto will put something out, but Azure then will change it, and sometimes it's hard to follow that documentation. HPE Zerto Software can be improved by keeping up on top of the Azure changes happening there, trying to smooth that process out, because there are many steps that you have to take in Azure, and that's not necessarily HPE's fault, it's just how Azure functions. For how long have I used the solution? I've been working with Zerto for more than ten years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability and reliability of HPE Zerto have been great; I haven't really faced any major challenges, and when we have, support has been really great at helping. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? HPE Zerto Software scales with the growing needs of our organization as a great scalable solution; the only concern I have for really large organizations would be the cost. However, you have to start looking at the soft metrics that CFOs don't necessarily take into account. How are customer service and support? Every time I've had to talk to support, whether it's been pre-HPE or during HPE's acquisition, the technical and customer support has been pretty good at resolving any issues that have come up. I really appreciate the stateside support. How would you rate customer service and support? Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Prior to adopting HPE Zerto, we were using different solutions. Looking at recovery solutions for the capabilities, RecoverPoint was there, which is what Zerto was based on. We considered the capabilities they offered versus solutions such as Veeam. How was the initial setup? In an on-prem environment, when it was the Windows deployment, it was pretty easy to deploy. Now, once it went over to Linux, it's still been pretty easy on the on-prem side. Once you start getting involved with the public clouds, it gets a little clunky. Again, I don't fall down totally on the HPE side. It's the public cloud that may be at issue. What was our ROI? Customers have definitely seen a return on investment from HPE Zerto Software. They can automate their DR testing, test it more often, and in a worst-case scenario, they could have a help desk person literally hit a button to help them come back over or come up in the cloud or in another site if they need to. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? My experience with the pricing, licensing cost, or setup cost has been such that I don't have to deal with the pricing side of it. The setup, primarily in the Azure space, has been a little clunky, and I don't necessarily fault HPE for that. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Before selecting HPE Zerto, we considered other solutions such as RecoverPoint. They would look at Veeam, even though Veeam's not in the same category, but it was something that people would use as a recovery solution. What other advice do I have? For the capabilities and what it does today, I rate HPE Zerto Software a ten out of ten, and it's a market leader in that category. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Hybrid Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Microsoft Azure Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.Partner
What is our primary use case? Our main use cases for HPE Zerto Software are disaster recovery and replication to the cloud. How has it helped my organization? Zerto features benefit our organization by protecting us in times of need. I work in Louisiana, so in case of any natural disasters, we have the protection that we can fail over to the cloud quickly if needed. What is most valuable? The feature I appreciate the most in HPE Zerto Software is the move or the failover buttons. It protects the data without requiring a hard cutover or failover. It shuts down the server and ensures all data is protected before moving it from on-premises to the cloud or back from the cloud to on-premises. It's easy to use. It's simple. You just put the server you want in a VPG and make sure it's replicating and moving to the cloud and you hit protect. The solution helped reduce downtime for DR testing. It would have cost my organization significant downtime as we would have had to find alternative methods to fail servers from one data center to another data center, and we would have needed more help. We probably would have had to bring in consultants if needed. HPE Zerto Software has impacted my RTOs and RPOs with amazing results; they're in seconds. Compared to the other DR solutions I've used, the others seemed slow, manual, and clunky. HPE Zerto Software is fast, simple, and fits in our hybrid cloud model. The solution has helped to reduce our organization's DR testing time. DR used to take hours to fail over servers. We fail over 800 servers for our DR test, which would take hours with older or legacy DR solutions. Now, it takes minutes. We can leave it up there, get our test smoke test in the isolated environment and it just works. I have a really good impression of HPE Zerto Software's near-synchronous replication. It works very efficiently. Sometimes it gets choppy, but once implemented, it's fast. Replication is fast and the journal copy allows picking minutes and seconds for failover timing. Near-synchronous replication is very important to our organization. In the healthcare industry, there are three main things: care, claims, and trust. If you can't process claims or do transactions, the company is in a bad state. The solution has saved us time in data recovery situations due to moving from on-prem to Azure. I have not experienced any downtime, crashes, or performance issues over the last three months. However, over my eight years working with HPE Zerto Software, I have experienced some downtime and crashes during upgrades. What needs improvement? HPE Zerto Software can be improved for automation. I would appreciate more integration with vCenter in the next release and how we can protect our production servers and automatically get them put into a VPG. That's what I'm working with right now to try to build automation for it. If HPE Zerto Software has it built-in where we're going to vCenter and you click on it, it will build the VPG and indicate configuration requirements, that would be amazing. For how long have I used the solution? We've been using HPE Zerto Software for about eight years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I would assess the stability and reliability of HPE Zerto Software as very stable. We had a rough patch during the migration from Windows to Linux. Now it's great. It's very stable and easy to use, and it helps me whenever I'm in a bind. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? HPE Zerto Software scales with the growing needs of my organization very efficiently. If you need to add anything, either memory or CPU, you can shut down servers while everything continues replicating in the background. As long as you have your VRA set up correctly on the host, you're good. We have expanded our usage significantly. We have about seven servers on-prem, and we have about 15 servers in Azure. Before that, we had four. We just had to add three more recently to keep up with what the firm wanted. How are customer service and support? I would evaluate customer service and technical support as having had a rough patch. Since the beginning of this year, it's been amazing. I would prefer more customer service focused in the Azure realm. I've found there aren't many cloud, Azure, HPE Zerto support techs. Other than that, it's been great. I always get help. Someone always knows what to do, and if I have any issues, I bring the issues to them. How would you rate customer service and support? Negative Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Prior to adopting HPE Zerto Software, I was using VMware to address similar needs. It came down to performance, cost, support, and scalability. HPE Zerto Software handled all of these factors. How was the initial setup? I would describe my experience with deploying HPE Zerto Software as easy. Going over to the OVA, setting the IP address, and going straight to the webpage to start building your VPGs is straightforward. If you have a server on Windows, you can install the OVA on Windows as also. The OVA setup process involves putting in your IP, setting it up, getting your IP address, putting your subnet mask, and proceeding from there. What was our ROI? I can't speak of return on investment with HPE Zerto Software. My understanding is it has provided value through helping with our disaster recovery testing. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? My experience with pricing and setup cost for HPE Zerto Software is great. I've had help with Sean, Avishai, and Ashton Meyers. They have been tremendous with helping with the licensing and pricing. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I've looked at many different DR solutions before selecting HPE Zerto Software. I've used solutions from Microsoft and VMware, and HPE Zerto Software has been the best so far. What stood out to me in my evaluation process were the speed of recovery, cloud flexibility, and the way that it can keep up with the changing pace of my company. What other advice do I have? Any company looking for a disaster recovery solution should give HPE Zerto Software a try. The ease of use and multi-cloud capabilities with AWS, Azure, Google, and private cloud integration are valuable features. Now that they're with HPE, they remain hypervisor agnostic. Companies should conduct a POC to see how it works and how easy it is to use. I rate HPE Zerto Software nine out of ten.
