I bought this after a cheap Amazon surge protector didn't save my gaming PC from an outage. That was very expensive. First thing I did was a lot of research and buy these Tripp-Lites for our expensive electronics. Outstanding build quality and much higher joule rating has given me good peace of mind, and has me wanting to get one of their whole home ones that you plug into the circuit panel.

My brother gifted me a Tripp-Lite Isobar 8-outlet surge protector and a Tripp-Lite 2-outlet direct plug in when I moved into a new apartment a few years ago. I use them for all my electronics--TV, wireless modem, landline, laptop, etc. During a few, brief outages due to severe thunderstorms over the years, the Tripp-Lite surge protectors did their job of protecting my electronics. BTW, my brother has also used these products for several years and is very happy with their performance. I recently invested in a dehumidifier and an air purifier. I want the same protection for these items and purchased another Tripp-Lite Isobar 8-outlet surge protector. I feel secure knowing my investments are protected for years to come, and additionally, are covered by Tripp-Lite's $50,000 Ultimate LIfetime Insurance.

The reset switch started to flicker so we purchased this Isobar unit. Whe we plugged it in all lites showed normal. Plugged in our componets from the rack and nothing worked. Tested the duplex outlet and the tester showed correct wiring. Test this unit outlets. 1 showed reversed hot and nutural and another showed hot - ground reversed. We currently use 2 other Trip-Lite units and anther brand battery back up unit for our computers, monitors, mosumes, and printers. I can't tell you how disappointed we are and yes we sent it bck to amazon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! I purchased the isobar8 outlet surge protector with 12' cord to remedy what I felt was a dangerous extention cord/power strip rig that ran under my bed. It was used to power a CPAP machine, a box fan, a lamp and a phone charger. The isobar8 is a great length and has a right angle plug that sits flat on the wall, feeding the cord down and slightly off to the side so it can be plugged into the top or bottom outlet. The unit comes with outlet protectors to keep dust out of unused outlets and that's great. The unit is legit heavy duty and at 3840 joules protection I feel very safe having it in the bedroom as well as having our high priced CPAP running off of it. I will only be buying the isobar units moving forward. Safety first!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellect clamping voltage spec with 4 isolated filter banks An audio professional recommended this surge protector for my home theater, to protect my AVR, subwoofer, TV, PS3, Nintendo Switch, etc. His recommendation was based on two factor: clamping voltage (RMS) of 140 volts (hard to beat that spec!) and 4 isolated filter banks. Top-quality construction and plenty of space around each outlet are also beneficial, as is the touted Tripp Lite support team. So far, so good - plenty of peace-of-mind now, and protection against virtually any surge (short of a direct lightning strike!).

I am also very happy about the fact that my devices feel very securely rooted in the outlet strip, and the plug of the device is relatively flat and plugs very securely into the wall socket. There is virtually no chance of it getting knocked out of the socket, even if you were to back a chair into it. This device cost more than I have ever paid for a power strip before, but this is no ordinary power strip!

This thing is a work-horse and since I started using it I have had no surge-related equipment problems whatsoever! Since I live in a thunder-storm prone area, this is a real accomplishment. Among the features are the generous spacing of the 3-prong outlets, allowing to use cube-type transformers for small electronics and the phone-line protection. This was such a good piece of equipment, I specified it for installation at my work station, and have a second one for other equipment not located near my computer. Highly recommended!

We actually include them in our shipping and storage cases. Although the cords are very durable, I only wish they were more flexible to make them easier to coil in a small package.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great as a RF Filter This was recommended by a professional HDTV and Internet installer to block signals from a local ham radio operator that lives nearby. Since it was installed, We have had no interference with RF signals bleeding onto our line.

Works great, easy on-off control, lots of outlets for everything, including computer, printer, modem, router, telephone, and more. Easily mounted on the underside of desk. Very nice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Just Does Not Get Any Better. This product is the best. I have used this product family for over 30 years. It was amazing and protects my equipment very well. In the past, one gave up its life in protecting the computer equipment behind it. Tripplite stands behind this product as well. The ISO product was replaced by Tripplite. What more could anyone ask for. Excellent company and excellent product. It does exactly what it is supposed to do and does. I always protect my equipment whether it be televisions, media rooms, computers and anything electrical. Tripplite stands behind the products 100%. Good deal, good company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy the Tripp-Lite again. I had been using $180 Power Conditioners for years and years. I looked down at the one protecting the computer one day and the purple light was out, meaning the unit was supposed to be sent back to factory for repair. I had talked to them previously and was told of all the great benefits etc. of the $180 unit, and the lady said don't worry about the lights, just reset the button and all will be okay. I reset the button and still the "OK" light did not come on. Then I saw a YouTube video where this very high-tech guy had a bunch of meters hooked to the $180 (from Amazon) unit. He was checking for noise since they claim that if was a power conditioner and would filter out EMI and RFI. It did neither. The meter read the same no matter what signal he applied. So I said why should I pay them $180 when I can get a high quality Tripp-Lite for $60? That's what I did. One week after it came from Amazon I had it hooked up and we had thunderstorms all night long. Tripp-Lite protected computer, monitor and all the other electronic devices I have on huge table with no problem. I recommend the Tripp-Lite.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly surprised based on the amazon reviews, my main concern for the purchase was spacing b/w plugs since both rows of plugs have the ground part orientated at the same direction. at least for my use case, this was not an issue, maybe for bigger plugs than what i have? so far my only complaints are 1) i wish this 8 outlet came with a shorter cord similar to the 6 outlet version(at the time of purchase the 8 outlet was a couple of dollars more expensive than the 6). 2) I wish they included a mounting/drilling guide inside the box or to download.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed surge protectors The two 8-outlet surge protectors I purchased replaced two sets of daisy chained power strips. The hazards of the inexpensive power strips is becoming all too well known through disasters resulting from overloads and inferior construction. In addition, we recently had a power failure with our local utility. The power went out twice in fairly rapid succession and in the process somehow caused a software issue with my computer that required repair by my IT service. Tripp-Lite is known as a manufacturer of quality products, and I'm glad to have the protection and convenience of combining all my loads directly through the two new surge protectors. The outlet layout was spacious enough for all the transformers and two and three-pronged plugs, and all my wiring basically disappeared with some creative routing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just another in years of purchases of Tripp-Lite products. Been using Tripp-Lite products for years--always top quality, always works as advertised--never a single complaint. Bought these to protect our church's audio-visual equipment. Only a few dollars more than the cheap imported "no specs you can count on" units. There is no reason I can think of to use knock-off or cheap import protection for sensitive equipment. Buy the good stuff!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You CAN buy peace of mind when it comes to your electronics Love this surge protector power strip so far, along with the peace of mind that my electronics are protected in more ways than one. The overall build quality and external housing of the isobar is pretty outstanding. I don't think I have ever owned a power strip or surge protector that was built nearly as well. The one thing I could see being an issue for some, but not currently for myself, is the spacing and orientation of the plugs. Other than that one thing, the Isobar is a top tier multi-outlet surge protector. For the price you would be hard pressed to find a product with better build quality or that offered better peace of mind when I comes to the protection under the lifetime guarantee.

I have an 8 outlet Isobar strictly for my wife two sewing machines. They are high end/expensive computer controlled machines. I have another Isobar unit connected to medical equipment in the bedroom. This last purchase of an 8 outlet Isobar was made to protect a new computer and multifunction printer/scanner/fax. The Isobar is very robust and heavy. There is nothing flimsy about it. Compared to what is available at office supply stores, the only common sense approach I could make was to choose Isobar from Tripp-Lite. Our electronics deserve the best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Features We are exploiting all the features of this unit at the soundboard booth at our church: the 12' cord (11' needed!), the rear mounting holes (we mounted on a wooden backplate for easy install and removal), the durable metal construction (it may get kicked under the table, even though it's 2' off the floor), the number of outlets and the relatively high protection (joules) for the price. I've used similar TrippLites for years, never disappointed! One improvement could be provided by TrippLite: ship a paper template of the mounting screws! I had to make my own with a "pencil rubbing". Works, but annoying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tripp-Lite ISOBAR is the best; well worth the price. I own 5 Tripp-Lite Isobar surge protectors in 4, 6, and 8 outlet sizes. They are the best. The surge protection has higher capacity (more Joules) than most. The diagnostic LEDs include detection of proper grounding as well as polarity check and protection status. The heavy duty on/off switch is illuminated and includes an overload/short circuit breaker. MOST OF ALL, the case is metal, and the outlets are independently mounted sockets, which means that risk of fire due to faulty appliances or internal circuit failure is greatly reduced. The plug is right-angled, so it allows safer clearance in front of the wall socket. These may cost more than the competitors, but they are worth the price.

Doing much research I found that this product was the best surge protector for the money. Perfect for my expensive electronic devices. Don't make the mistake of trying to save a couple dollars, this item is worth much more than the price paid. Solid construction and great features, one of them being the extra long power cord.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excelant product that I recommend I purchased this to protect my smart TV and associated accessories that I use with it, it is well constructed and has sufficienet outlets spaced far enough apart to accomplish everything I needed. I have used Trip Lite Isobar products for years to protect sensitive electronics, such as a LG smart front loading washing machine which uses a computer to control all it's functions and should it burn out through a lightning strike or similar cost a fortune to replace. In my opinion they are well worth the investment for all of your sensitive electronic products

The 286 is long gone, but that isobar remains in service. Anyway, I bought this one because it occurred to me that my current setup is very expensive and should have some sort of power filtering and protection above what a cheap power bar could provide - isobar was the only name I trusted, and this one quietly gives me confidence that my computing investment is protected. It also prevents AC noise from the PC from going back into the house circuits, which caused sensitive LED lights to sometimes flicker...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unusually well built without being overpriced I'm using my Isobar Surge Protector to provide power to a home entertainment system. The outlets used are of high quality, and grasp an inserted plug very securely, which is an important safety feature. Normal power outlet strips use very poor quality outlet hardware, which aren't even real outlets if you open up the unit. These can eventually result in loose, wobbling connections, which are a fire risk. As a retired electronic technician who performed component level repair on a variety of computing equipment, I've seen the damage caused by overvoltage events. While nothing can protect against a direct lightning strike, the Isobar should proved good protection against most overvoltage problems you'll likely encounter.

The only problem I've ever had was on one unit that I switch off and on regularly: after 20 years (or was it 30?) the switch failed. Tripp-Lite replaced the unit at no charge. Great service!

I works great and I'm comfortable with my electronics plugged into it as we have a lot of power issues around here. I've replaced every surge protector, power strip in the house with Tripp Lite Isobar outlets. I also use a Tripp Lite line conditioner for my computers. All are very well build products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protection Well Worth It Used Isobar products back in the day when I was a IT network admin in NYC. Now I live in heavily wooded area between steep hills lined with trees. The trees come down on the over head power lines and my computer gear is subject to full outages, bouncing yo-yo power, and major spikes. Got the Isobar 8 to protect against the dangerous zaps. Like the sturdy build, indicator lights and it's roomy enough to fit all my plugs. It's a great value and well worth it to avoid the nightmare of replacing a fried router & other mission critical gear. It gives me great peace of mind.
