Lack of options forced me to buy this basic item (I prefer commuter boxes, which provides a bit more protection. It's basic black, which is fine. Due to the construction it's a bit hard to use volume and power keys. Not quite enough coverage for camera for me. Working as advertised.

I just wish the Samsung A42 5g box was available in the defender series. This one does not have a protector screen with it, but can purchase screen separately. This box was a bit pricey so I really didn't want to spend more money. Otherwise, I know Otter boxes to be a very quality item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lacks the clip, hard case and screen protector My S21 was stolen last week, had to replace with a less expensive A42 (not insured told the Verizon sales rep, to give me the best OTTERBOX case, assuming it would be like my S21 case... it’s not, no belt clip, no hard shell, no screen protector very disappointed ... just looks cheap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not what I hoped for. I had to replace my Samsung Galaxy S7 in June. It had an Otterbox Defender Realtree case. In fact I had just bought a new replacement 10 days earlier. I replaced this phone with a Samsung A42 5G and the Verizon rep sold me an Otterbox Symmetry case. I immediately noticed how hard and slippery the case was. I found a case very much like the Otterbox Defender at Walmart for $ 16.95. It doesn't have a screen protector but that isn't needed on the A42. The case has a textured back and soft corners. I wish that I hadn't wasted money on the Symmetry case.

OtterBox cases fit perfectly, protect completely, and are reasonably priced. I would highly recommend ordering your new case directly from OtterBox their customer service is fantastic.
