always use original HP ink!
The HP 972X cartridge IS expensive but with the PageWide Pro MFP 477 it seems, as with all of the HP 'XL' cartridges, to last 'forever'. Never had a problem with any HP OEM cartridges.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not work in the 377 page wide printer The site says this is different than the 972a because it prints out more than twice as many pages for less than twice the money. That sounds great but when you place it into the printer, and it fits just fine, the screen says the 972x is not compatible with this printer. So now I am afraid I am stuck with this and another color of the same cartridge. At over $125.00 each I am not happy at all about the lousy description on the site.
