The 3922 features a cost-effective 24 Gb/s switching fabric capacity, supporting two 1/10GbE and two 100M/1GbE fiber ports, and two 10M/100M/1GbE copper ports.

The compact, open, network edge platform is powered by an external AC power supply and designed to fit two 3922 platforms in a single rack to support a variety of deployments.

The small size and customer-friendly aesthetic design enables the 3922 to be deployed in small offices and home offices, as well as traditional office environments. The fanless design eliminates noise, allowing the 3922 to operate even in the closest of quarters - and it comes in a metal-housed variant, too.

Ciena's 3922 is a carrier-grade platform based on the Service-Aware Operating System (SAOS) used in all Ciena's Routing and Switching Platforms to deliver a consistent set of benefits, including interoperability between platforms, improved efficiency of operations, and service consistency among applications. The 3922 supports applications such as business services Network Termination Element (NTE) or demarcation devices for retail and wholesale, as well as managed Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) or Layer 2 Virtual Private Network (L2VPN).
