I use this to increase the range of my router for WiFi in my house and also to give my satellite receiver a wired hook up. I am unable to find a setting to secure the access on the Nighthawk app or the Netgear website. If the access isn't secure, we can't keep it open. I'm disappointed that there isn't an easy way to find a solution.

I live in a ranch home and the router is in the middle of the house (2400 sq ft total. I placed the extender about 40 feet from the router and it has not changed the wifi. I moved the extender to a room adjacent to the initial location and the wifi got worse! Not sure what to do now!

I have high speed service but was unable to get 2 meg download and constantly dropping service. I installed the AC1900 and used the available app on my iPad to configure it. Went smooth and in less than 20 minutes my wifi coverage improved dramatically. I now get 20 meg downloads in almost every corner of the house. I would recommend this to anyone with coverage issues and speed. Works like a champ for me.

I do have occasional drops and have had to reboot the devices about 1x/month. I’m think this is because they may get warm and need to cool down once in a while. The app works great and comes with tools to resolve most issues or assess performance. I would definitely recommend these.

I am so happy I heard about this extender and since I bought it, I can now have my kids doing their homework somewhere else beside right next to the modem. If you have a large house, you can put your modem in the center of your house and an extender on both sides. This is the best thing ever. If in doubt about whether or not it will serve your situation, amazon will allow you to return it, making it worth the purchase. Now, it allows us to run our security cameras, smart tvs, kids streaming shows and 4 kids doing virtual school, me teleworking and everything else that needs wifi...so worth it!

It disconnects from the host WiFi regularly and has to be reset nearly every day. Would not buy it again. When it does work it is fine and has good range but it’s problems are outweighing it’s benefits.

It took a while to find the right spot for the extender but when I did, VOILA problem solved. I also picked this model so that I would have the same Wi Fi as my home instead of a second WiFi just for the gate bell. The instructions on how to set it up were also well written, as I am of another generation. I was able to do it myself! Thanks NetGear.

As an access point I can plug a CAT5 cable in and use my laptop with a wired connection. As a wifi extender it adds significant range to my network. Set up was quick and easy just by hitting my WPS button on my router and was able to get everything going within 10 minutes. It also has both 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz since some of my newer Ring cameras can now connect to 5.0Ghz which is the main reason why I bought this WiFi extender too. I have been using this for a year and it’s still holding up strong. Never had any problems or interruptions with my WiFi extender.

We got the net gear extender and now our wifi works better than the kids upstairs. Would recommend 10/10 times to anyone in need of better connection.

I ended up downloading the Nighthawk app to perform the set up. I still had issues, but eventually l got the extender set up. We set-up an desk for her in a room that is the furthest distance from the wireless router. I installed the AC1900 with the hope that it will extend the Wi-Fi; I have never used an extender before so I was not sure of the performance. After performing the easy set-up to connect to the Wi-Fi, I tried a few location for the AC1900 and found one that worked perfectly. Confident and fast connection every time. Highly recommend.

Ive tried multiple locations and it just doesnt have the throughput we need. The menu is pretty easy to manage for most people, advance options are less friendly but unless you need to really tweak things its fine. If you have a fairly small or open space, I would recommend it. If you have gamers and heavy streamers, I may go with something that has external antenae.

My biggest complaint is that it takes a moment to set up, but after set up, it does a remarkable job of providing an extended range for my wifi with similar speeds. My 3 year old son has stomped on it while in the wall on several occasions but it is built like a brick and has survived many stomping. I would highly recommend.

I will say though at one point that it started acting up to the point that the internet would absolutely not work or be worse than 3g signal. I learned that it had to be manually updated and luckily I was able to tinker with that. Anyone buying this device, be aware that it may not work and you'll have to fix it or send it in to get it updated. After it updated, this extender became smoother, better, rivaling even the router itself.

I first added 1 AC1900 to my upstairs area and it made a noticeable difference. I then added a 2nd AC1900 and spaced them out relative to the router so that they formed a large triangle. I'm not able to get 5 bar service on all devices at any location in my home and even in my garage and backyard. This was a very reasonable upgrade from a price standpoint since its a plug n' play solution. Outstanding product!

I'm not happy with the extremely long password it has and I am afraid to try to change it because it may not work afterwards. My laptop will not connect to it with this long password but our cell phones took it and work perfectly. I am going to look for a help/support number to call and get some guidance. Other than that, it seems to work awesome!

I didn't realize why I couldn't set up my new device until I called support for another company's device and they mentioned it. I was frustrated and planned to return the Netgear, but decided to see if this would work, and it did. Please revise your instructions; it may save you a customer or two. Once I figured out how to set it up. I had a dead zone on the other end of my home, where my work desktop was located. Internet connection was horrible. If you watch closely the routine is evident with lights flashing. The app times out before the device has completed the sequence of setup. This is where the end user must be persistent and keep retrying. The device is going to do what it says it will do. The gap is the app developers assume that all end users are a computer genius. My feed back would be make it as a easy as setting up Roku. I give the device a 5 the app a 3.

I had a few issues figuring out where to plug in the extender but once that was figured out the setup took less than 5 minutes with the app. If you screw up setting the app (I did just reset the extender. It is so easy and our connection is super fast throughout the whole house.

Had issues the first time, exit out of the app and logged back in and connected right away. Guess it was a glitch. But once everything loaded and connected I moved it about midway between router and camera. The signal is great and camera works perfectly now.

Our camper is there and with the Roku tv, we use it as sort of our covid weekend escape from the kids. I wasn’t too sure it would work but it goes beyond expectations in that I can pull the 5G signal from inside the house very nicely. I did not even have to set it up closer to their router (per the instructions. I just plugged it into the wall between the main house and my cottage. The EX6400 firmware was easy to update and setup for a mesh extender was simple. My router is in my shop which is detached from the house and the extender picks up the signal with excellent strength and provides wifi to the whole house which is a large 2 story. I don't often say that a product is everything expected but this one fills the bill.

WiFi velocity sometimes is reduced by 30% - 40% when using the extender compared to a direct connection with the router. It is not easy to set up, but looking into NETGEAR tutorials you can figure it out relatively quick.

First thing the app asks for with a mesh extender is the QR code. Trouble is with this model there isn’t one. That was frustrating. Once using Nighthawk to set up as an extender, instead of a mesh router it works great. Really helped WiFi signal in the basement and I really like not having to use a .ext path like older extenders required.

It has added WiFi to all of our house as we have a rather large house, don’t know exact square footage but is a two story house with 3 living rooms (2 downstairs and 1 upstairs, 7 bedrooms, a dining room, and a kitchen. I am very pleased with this device and have just ordered a Netgear usb WiFi adapter for my nephew’s pc. We have an all Netgear network and love it.

There is multiple settings and modes to fit preferred household need. I played with wired and wireless before finalizing settings and using. Both bands show great signals in an area previously lacking for camera, tv, streaming, etc. Netgear also allows the ability to install and use an app that give user tools to monitor signal, channel, performance.

The down side to it is it seems to affect my devices, or to say limit the amount of devices I can use. When the extender is unplugged all my devices work, when plugged in I lose the connection of a few devices. I will only use it when I am in the backyard now.

I plugged it into several different wall plugs and frankly think this is a box that, when plugged into a wall plug, has a lot of blinking lights and nothing else to offer. Seems that there is no difference in how long it take to access a channel, if at all, and in the number of lights that blink on this box.

Was getting double digit megabit speeds on my game system via wifi for the longest time (only option since the router was downstairs and my console was upstairs. Was hesitant about the product, but it ended up exceeding my expectations. Setup was smooth and connection to my wifi was seamless. I connected an ethernet cable to that and my system and finally have triple digit megabit speeds. No random dips, no connection resets, nothing. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

It would take forever to use the Internet if it would even work, so I was paying $60 a month for Internet that I couldn’t use and just using the hotspot on my phone. The idea of having a tv to stream movies in my room was an impossibility. I had very low expectations for this extender, but I was completely surprised. My 5G signal was boosted to full capacity in my bedroom. No buffering at all on my new tv while I work on documentation on my laptop without having to connect to a hotspot. I’m ridiculously pleased and feel so unbearably adult-ish to be happy with an Internet signal.

We have roughly 2,500sq ft and towards the edges of our house, the home router was having trouble reaching. This has helped extend the range. Would have thought it could reach a little farther, but setup was easy and performance is decent.

We added an EAX80 and got comparable speeds there. I wanted to be able to chill on our decks and hot tub so we recently installed an EX6400v2. I’m writing this review from the comfort of our deck with no loss of speed. It was easy to connect to our existing service and its compact plugin design allowed for a variety of locations. We did have a power outage recently and the unit wouldn’t restart. I received a replacement in less than a week.

After connecting and updating the firmware my phones and smart tv and firestick were no longer showing netgear as a connection option and the light on the netgear showing device connection wouldn't light up. The setup was a tad bit tricky and took me almost two hours to understand and even after knowing what I needed to do in order to be up and extended I still had to get a tech on the phone. The technical support person was polite and knowledgeable and swiftly had it working. The effectiveness of this product exceeds my expectations as I was skeptical that it would have any effect at all. It has remained working for 1 year and has been moved about the house several times. This was an upgrade from a much cheaper WiFi range extender that I was not impressed with. I give this product, price and support a 9 out of 10 and the only reasons that it isn't a perfect 10 are due to setup and price.

My Only complaint is that they have each had to be replaced one month after the warranty expired. So, my advice is to buy an extended warranty. I've never used a different brand and I'm not tech savvy AT ALL. Only other problem was that the instructions included in the box required me to call the support team to get it set up, (the instructions were for a completely different model. But I didn't hold too awfully long, but it was definitely not plug n play! The tech support girl was knowledgeable and efficient and pleasant. I just hope it lasts longer than the others did!

They were showing poor and very poor on signal strength before adding the extender and both went to very good and online with the extender up and running. Solved my problem with the doorbells.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beware Worked well for less than a year. Then a failed firmware update made the unit inoperable. Netgear provides no support what so ever. No one will speak with you. I have ended up spending hours watching outdated youtube trouble shooting videos for the issue I am having. Evidently, I need to plug the extender directly into the cpu and flash the firmware update onto the extender. Have been unsuccessful after numerous attempts. No way to get help. Will have to buy a new extender and it will not be a netgear product.

It doesn't seem to be helping my wifi range at all. My parents have the cheaper one and their wifi is greatly extended. The only good thing I've found about this one is the ethernet cable plug so I could go straight to the TV with it. Would recommend the cheaper option for better results.

How am I supposed to use internet upstairs and watch YouTube or Netflix without having that never ending circle loading symbol. I bought this at Walmart after researching reviews on Amazon and I’m glad I bought it. My router is located upstairs and the patio TV was continuously buffering and dropping the signal. Since connection the AC 1900 Mesh there are no longer any problems.

Downloaded the App, set it up and moved the extender to receptacle near the mid of the weak L. Once in place the WiFi is great everywhere in the house. Perfect solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Complicated device The extender doesn’t work and loses connection to the router Every time a reboot of the wifi or if power surge or lose power. It’s frustrating when a camera system is connected to the extender and it disconnects from the main router. You have to log into the extender and reboot it every time your wifi changes IP address. They should have it to where if this happens it automatically adjust and reboots itself. There’s times I’ll log into my camera system and they are all down because of this. So irritating. Sometimes a reboot doesn’t work and I have had to totally reset the extender to factory settings and re do everything because of this. It takes a lot of time to do so. Customer support will not help you after a couple months after purchasing either. You have to pay them to help you at that point. For spending over 100 bucks for this I expected a lot different product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliability issue for Zoom Calls I purchased this product new on Amazon in April, 2022 based on positive reviews to extend my home Wifi into my home office for Zoom calls. It worked well for two months but then started having a reliability issue. Each day it would drop the internet connection from my router, which was a problem because then my Zoom calls for work would drop. Each time I checked the internet connection from the router it was fine, so the issue was with the Netgear extender. To reconnect to the router I'd have to unplug the Netgear extender, plug it back in and wait a few minutes for the connection to reestablish, which was not practical for Zoom calls. When I contacted Netgear customer service they couldn't fix the issue so they agreed to replace the product under warranty but then said the vendor on Amazon where it was purchased wasn't approved, so wouldn't honor the warranty. After that I switched to a TP-link Deco mesh WiFi product, which was less expensive and has worked consistently well for Zoom calling.

After installing the Netgear WiFi extender, not only do we get nearly full speeds in the second floor, we get excellent speeds on the third floor where we before got nothing. The routing in my house required my main router to be in the front living room. I tried back-feeding a signal and using the router function, ultimately to decide that the range extender is enough. I have all hardwired hardware where it can be but needed just a little boost on wifi, perfectly fit my needs. Quick setup and it works, which is something to be said in this industry.

It extends the wifi all the way through our home when without it we were only able to get signal close to our router. We also stay connected outside now. Tried configuring the device as a repeater/extender, but it would only intermittently work. There were many factors involved in the installation so it may not have been this device that was the problem. It is well build and seems really sturdy. Configuring was a little tricky, but Overall it may be a fit for some other types of installations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good but Im not sure if my disappointment is with the extender trying to take over as primary router, The less than brilliant setup tool ‘Night Hawk’ app or the fact that the primary NightHawk router lets it take over at all. I have used netgear products for over 20 years i have sold thousands of dollars worth of Netgear routers to end users but I think it is time to look closer at some of the competition. I have not been this disappointed in a computer product since Lucent technologies in the late 90’s.

And I could never go back working on the net without my extender. It's absolutely a necessity for me now. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard To believe The Range After buying my Wifi Ranger Extender I couldn't believe how good the pickup was for my reception range. To get reception from my downstairs living room up stairs to my bedroom, this is a very great Item and well worth the price of buying.
