Easy installation, great performance
It just worked, right away. I replaced an 8 port switch with this 16 port device, and the whole installation took under half a minute. Communication was established with all clients and upstream devices immediately, without the need to reset anything. Easy peasy.

Needed more network connection points
I really didn't know what I was doing. I needed more connection points for devices in my home network - more ethernet cables to connect different rooms in my house and sources. I started searching the internet on home networks, learning how to connect things. I have used Netgear equipment for a long time, routers, modems, etc... I found the 16 port gigabit switch and bought it. I placed it in a central electronic cabinet where all the ethernet cables pass - determined which cable went to/came from, connected them up and the home network was born. This 16 port switch has worked flawlessly and passes the internet to/from my pc at almost 900 mbps. Wow - thanks Netgear! I heartily recommend this switch to all. Thanks Netgear.

Puzzled by internet speed
Bought this switch to replace an older one, hoping for better performance. Internet speed test on old switch was around 90 Mbps, on the new switch it is around 38 Mbps. I don't know why it is worse.

Great quality router
excellent options especially for home office. I work from home, and a wired network connection is required. Also wiring most of my devices that can be wired helps free up Wi-Fi. This device is perfect for that aspect.Super easy to set up, easy to update the firmware.

Good product
When rewiring my home network this switch was a clear choice, easy as plug it in and go. I have used NETGEAR switches at my job for 15 years and have always been dependable the one time I did have a failure they were fast in replacement.

Quit working
The switch worked perfectly until it didn't. After a couple of months of usage, it just stopped working. The lights still flash as you would expect, but no data is being transferred.

Consolidation of items
Does the job of consolidating all of my ethernet connections in one unit. Had multiple units daisy chained and made a mess of the area. Enabled me to clean up area and have plenty of space for more items.

Simple to use network hub
I have a number of various types of servers in my basement all on a flat home network. Rather than daisy-chaining several smaller, older hubs together to provide enough ports, I decided to upgrade to this 16-port auto-negotiating hub. Plugged everything in and all is working fine as expected.

Could be better
Thus was recommended to work with my system. However, some devices did not push thru. I intended to have 9 devices commented to this and do away with an extender. I can only get 4 devices to work and had to keep my extender. Definitely not worth the money spent.

Truly Plug and Play
There's really not much you can say about unmanaged switches. You just plug devices into them - think of them as the multi-outlet end of an extension cord from your router. There is nothing to configure so just plug it in to power and plug in the network cables.

It just works
Open the box . connect all your ethernet ,devices, no need to worry about crossover cables etc, connect to your router. Plug it in and hey presto it all just works, perfectly. Cal be wall mounted if you want. Mine just sits neatly behind the tv. Smart looking, small and neat.

We recently finished installing Ethernet in our home and the switch was a primary element. It has enabled us to eliminate serious delay on our wifi system and enabled us to efficiently use our 40 GB Internet service. It was a godsend.

Very Good Switch
I own a NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 wireless router already, and really like it, I needed some switches to help with setting up a home network, and decided to go with NETGEAR again, and get the GS316. So far it has not disappointed me, it works real well, and does what I need it to do. It seems to generate very little heat, and since it is in a small space this is good. I have not had any network issues with this switch yet.

Does the job!
All of the ports work. Device feels solid and the housing does a good job of keeping the temps down without a fan. Throughput is excellent, have not had any issues under heavy load. No fuss device, just plug it in and go. Using this to supplement the ports on my Nighthawk Router.

An excellent switch at a good price
I am delighted with the Netgear 16-port gigabit ethernet unmanaged switch. I have been using an older Netgear switch (GS105Ev2 for a number of years continuously without any problems but needed additional ports. The switch arrived ahead of schedule, and it took only moments to swap it in for the old one and has been working perfectly. I've owned several Netgear products over the decades and have never been disappointed.

The performance was above average. This equipment is a great value for the price. I did have an unknown failure and the equipment stopped working. The customer support was great in getting me a new replacement quickly after troubleshooting. Even though I had one fail, I still support this brand. I have 3 of theses running in my home.

Works fine, but LEDs don't blink as fast as GS308
I replaced a GS308 with a GS316 to get more ports. It works fine, but I can't tell when a port has lots of traffic streaming on it any more. On the GS308, the LED would flash rapidly on the busy port. On the GS316, they all flash slowly, so offer little indication of which port is getting all the traffic.

instructions wrong
The over-simplified instructions that are shown on Amazon and come with the unit which imply that you can connect the device directly to an internet source (modem.) After wasting a bunch of time I logged on to register the device and found correct instructions require a router. Obvious to techies but not novices. Works fine.

Exactly what I needed
I had been dealing with problems with another brand of gigabit switch. Since the rest of my equipment was Netgear and I was not experiencing any problems with it, I figured I might as well get a Netgear switch. As soon as I plugged it in and moved over the ethernet cables, things that I had trouble getting to work all over the house just came to life and became reliable. So far I have had zero problems since installation.

Not a whole lot to say about this-- plug things in and they communicate. Getting excellent throughput on 1gbs-1gbs machines on the lan. Fanless, so it's silent. No squealing from the power supply. 5 Stars

16 Port solid performer, easy setup
Bought this to replace 3 smaller switches chained together in a home closet. Pulled it out of the box and plugged it in and it just works. Lights let me know one port was only 100mbps. I swapped out a cable and it increased to the 1000 which the device was. Very happy with the price and performance.
