LSI offers a family of MegaRAID battery backup units (BBUs) and for use with the high-performance MegaRAID controller cards. The battery backup units protect the integrity of the cached data by providing power if there is a server failure or complete AC power failure.
MegaRAID intelligent battery backup units (iBBUs) are add-on modules that offer all the features of the BBUs with the added functionality to automatically charge the battery pack and communicate with the host system the battery status, such as voltage, temperature and capacity.
