They're plug and play with Windows 7 and we have yet to see a failure. They're likely not the fastest, but have been trouble free based on our experience.

Sometimes you get a disc snd need a disc drive to play,read and record on. This one “fits the bill.” Easy set up and install with application options.

I have little hope I'll be adding a star though as it certainly seems pretty cheezy and cheaply made, and the software that came with it is absolutely atrocious, failing miserably on both attempts.

The screen shakes on its own volition, the screen expands on its own, and the keys on the keyboard are difficult to see!! Horrible, poor design. I need to return this and get a refund or a new replacement.

Was able to create a system repair disk for a gaming computer that had no internal CD/DVD. Write speed was exactly as identified in the system specifications. Great purchase for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multi Disk Drive I have Windows 10 so I did have to download additional software but this drive answered all the items on my check list, it is small enough it doesn't take up a huge amount of space, travels easy with my laptop and I can watch movies on my desktop from my dvd collection now. I would recommend this item.

So, there was no longer a need for this product. I am sure it would have been excellent though, so I am giving it four stars.

I'm having to remove the CD/DVD and re-insert it to get it to restart where it left off. Love it when it works well, but not happy with the starting and stopping.

Have done everything to try and get it to open, short of smashing the thing. So the transport is Cheap and Flimsy it is not worth the portability of the unit. Don't Waste Your Money, get something better

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a bit disappointed though The packaging indicated it was for Mac, and it plays media but the software CD included is for PC only so I had to go to a website and download some software which will only let me duplicate 5 minutes of a DVD. I have limited computer skills and so I need to maybe go to the library to get help with the copy process. I would have liked more user friendly assistance than being directed to a couple websites. I plugs in via USB but there are no drivers to operate the device with my LG 60" LED TV. Bought based on the merit that is was TV Connectivity featured.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This drive workson some laptops This drive works fine on two of my computers, but will not install on my Asus T100TAF Transformer Book. Windows 10 on all computers, it will show up in file explorer, but does not show in Device Manager, and when you try to open it you get a warning that there is a read security problem, I've try every vender involved and none have any idea what to do, other than that, the drive works fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trust in LG products, especially these devices. This LG DVD Writer wasn't bought with the intent on making backups. I bought it for installing operating systems on machines I work with frequently. It is a life saver! I have used it as a write since and have zero issues. It's solid and portable as well as working with older and newer systems. Overall, this portable handy helper makes life a lot easier!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not work on 27" iMac! DESPITE saying everywhere on box and online that it works on OSX, my iMac doesn't see it, even after restarts etc.! Also, it does appear very solid isn't very solid. For example, the lead just ell out of the back socket when I lifted the device and its isn't very robust feeling. Not a happy customer at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Software issue I have purchased 2 of these over the last year. I thought that I must have damaged the 1st one as it quit working almost immediately. Recently, I purchased another one only to have it quit the day I brought it home. It seems that when you install the included software, it automatically checks for BIOS updates and begins installing without asking and giving you time to shut down any other programs. I don't know if this is only an issue with Windows 10, but if you buy one, DO NOT INSTALL THE LG TOOLBOX or you will wind up with a throw-a-way.

Windows 10 is a huge problem with writers in general and this one is working fine for me. The device tray is like the provided with any laptop (not mechanical). It's ultra light and small. Rated 5 out of 5 by from This DVD burner is quick and works great. I bought this unit to work with my little ASUS 2-in-1 that didn't come with a DVD burner. It works great with it, very quick to search a disc and get the results. Using only one cable makes it easy to use with a laptop/tablet that only has one USB connection. As a bonus, it reads all of the old cds/dvds that could not be read on the original drive that created them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. Exactly what expected I wanted an external DVD drive for my ultrabook, this was one of the cheapest options with good reviews, so I bought it. It is exactly what you would expect from a DVD drive. It is thin, light, works with both USB2.0 and USB3.0 with Windows 8. At first I though I need drivers for it, because it wouldn't work, but then I realized I was being stupid - I didn't push the USB cord all the way into the port. It sits tight there. After I connected it properly it started working immediately. To some people who complain about the speed - come on, it is a DVD drive after all. Work as fast as any DVD.

Any system. Anywhere. It also successfully burned Wii games. One of the few that do it. If it does not work for you... it is USER error. Things can not be more simple. I wish I would have done more research instead of just assuming that all LG products were adequate quality. Now I have to go and get another one today to do my taxes.
