Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as described. This scanner is just what I needed for me being an independent contractor. The problem I've had is with my Pavillion not having a CD option. I cannot download via internet. Customer service is all automated which is frustratingI downloaded on another laptop (different make) and it works fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this scannerOur office scanner/copier was being replaced and I had to purchase this to hold us over. It really delivered. It is compact, quick and has all the features we have on a larger printer/copier/fax. I highly recommend this machine and may be purchasing this for each of our office stations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst scannerI have owned a NeatDesk scanner and a Fujitsu ScanSnap. This HP scanner is horrible. Paper jams. Slow scanning. If I scan 10 pages at once, it stops every 3 pages while scanning, then restarts, and the very last page stays halfway in the scanner while it is finishing up. This scanner is so slow. I bought the NeatDesk in 2008. And here 10 years later, this HP doesn't even compare/

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the jobWe bought this scanner for one specific purpose - to scan checks for deposit directly into our bank account for our business. It works perfectly. Quite pleased.I will say, however that the CDs that it came with that had the drivers on them DID NOT work forcing us to go on-line to download drivers. We figured it out, so it was OK, but it would have been nice if the CD driver had worked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product description is accurateThis is my preliminary impression of the HP ScanJet Pro 2000 s1. This device was purchased to digitize and convert to editable files several pools of records. The images to be scanned include old typewritten pages, ink and pencil drawings, digital and analog photos, receipts, 3x5 card records, printed E-mails, pages from technical manuals, mechanical drawings, notes, and sketches. The device was unpacked 24 hours ago. It took an hour and a half to set the machine up. The setup documentation was skimpy. The scanner was cabled to a notebook-style computer which runs Windows 10. There were problems getting the scanner to talk to the computer ("Unable to communicate with scanning device"). The interface problems were always resolved by re-starting the computer and the scanner. With some trial-and-error probing of the system, it was easy to get editable text from type written and computer printouts. Scanned images of old papers printed on a spirit duplicator ended up with many edit requirements. It is understandable as the vegetable dyes fade over time. It was possible to get editable receipts by sending them through the scanner inside two clear plastic sheets. Using a transparency envelope is the way to digitize sheets with strange geometric shapes, sizes, and printed on flimsy media. By the end of the day it was clear that this was a really smart purchase for me. It will help me archive old records. Maybe some day in the future there will be a reasonably-priced scanner to take images from bound manuals and books.
