Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very handy power source We bought one of these and like the portability so much that we bought another on the open box deal. We now have these two and two larger power stations. Using them every day to save on sky rocketing utility bills. And they will be good for camping and power failures in an emergency. Wonderful pieces of equipment!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sure came in handy I bought this in preparation for a backwoods camp trip. Before I could use it in that capacity, a major storm left me without power more than 4 days. With my yeti, I had my phone, internet, lights and even hot coffee. So glad I have this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from YETI 500X Unreliability As much as I liked the older generation of Goal Zero which I still have several pieces still going strong, I can’t speak well of their new products. I’ve had 2 separate 500X battery packs die on me. The latest one I had for less than 3 months. Goal Zero won’t honor their warranty which sticks me with an expensive brick. Shame on Goal Zero for reducing the quality of equipment. I’ll NEVER buy another Goal Zero product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 700$, won't charge cellphone Do not buy this. Will not charge a phone, will just connect disconnect over and over while plugged into either usb c port. Leaving you to charge with the 120 outlet, and now it doesn't even do that. SERIOUSLY SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS?!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far I am really liking it! Just received this unit today and it feels well constructed and it looks great. Everything works in order and so far all the outputs work great. I am quite excited to have it and I know it will be invaluable to me. The user interface is nice and I appreciate the additional settings it provides to calculate wattage, voltage, current, etc... It is little heavier than expectorated but that is negligible to me. Cons are that the cost is a bit high, but not so bad. Also the AC outlets are only 300W max but that is not actually a big deal because with a battery this size, I wouldn't be using more power than that. Anyways I am a happy with it and will be great for camping.. PS: I know the battery longevity is estimated to last a long time, but I really hope GZ will give you the option to change the battery for those who are teck savvy and capable of doing so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Two Yeti 500Xs Failed in Identical Manner To the best of my ability, this review is written in an unbiased manner with only the facts as I observed them. I originally purchased a Yeti 500X and Nomad 100 solar panel on 3/27/20. It worked perfectly at first—the solar panel and power station are super intuitive to use, it charged quickly, and delivered power reliably to all the desired peripherals. However, after 3 weeks (maybe the equivalent of 5 complete discharges/charges), the power station stopped charging both via the included wall adapter and via the solar panel. The blue input light just stays solid, and there are 0W being delivered to the battery. However, I did discover that I was still able to charge the battery via the alternate PD USB-C input. At least with my adapter, it maxes out at 35W (so not as powerful as the wall adapter or solar panel in full sunlight). I called customer service, and they told me to run the battery down to around 20% and to try charging it again. I did this, and it still didn't charge properly. I was issued an RMA, and am currently in the process of returning the power station for a refund. Because of COVID's impact to the shipping business, I went ahead and purchased another Yeti 500X on 4/11/20 without waiting for the refund to be issued from my first battery. Everything seemed to be working correctly at first, but on 4/28/20, I noticed the exact same charging malfunction as the first battery. I called customer service again, and am currently in the process of returning my second 500X. I want to like this battery so much, and when it works (for me, it was only the first 1-2 weeks), it's great. In my opinion, this is a systemic problem with the 500X model since they both failed in exactly the same way—I would find it hard to believe if it's a coincidence, but I guess there is technically a chance that it might be. Goal Zero is a reputable company, and I'm disappointed that this latest model seems to have this problem after presumably going through some sort of internal QC process. Furthermore, the second time I called customer service, I asked to talk to someone in engineering because I thought they'd like to know of this problem. I was told that all technical issues are already forwarded on to the engineering department, and that they would be notified, but that to date, no one was aware of any problems with the 500X. Based on what I was told, it seems like there might be a disconnect between customer feedback and the technical departments at Goal Zero, but admittedly, this is based on my very limited amount of data. I hope the problem gets fixed soon! Like I said, I love the battery when it's working, but I have to give it 2 stars based on my personal experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for CPAP I bought this to be able to camp with my CPAP. I’m so glad I did! I use my dc cord on my CPAP and after 2 nights the battery only dropped 20%! The yeti 500x has by far exceeded my expectations. I don’t have to worry about where I camp anymore. I also don’t worry about power outages either. Thank you Goal Zero for this awesome product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truck Camping with 45 watt fridge. So far so good but we haven’t tested in the real world yet. We bought this for our camping trips when we Boondock in our truck. We tested it inside in 70 degree home to see how long it the battery would last charging our 45 watt fridge. It had to cool the fridge first too. At 12 hours we still had 50% batter left. We haven’t been able to test the solar panel charge of the battery so we will see. Looks like solid construction and we’re looking forward to using soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Charging problems? Or inconvenience? Bought the 500x in the height of pandemic 2019, used it about a year and the charger went on the friz. Called gold zero and they sent a shipping container for ground. Cannot ship air. Lithium batteries. Any ways, shipped to gold zero. Got it back 3 or 4 weeks later and happy to say I have used it regularly for 2 years now to keep Dometic 55 fridge running in back of 4Runner. Will run light when camping. It will keep fridge cold over night while in hotels on 12v and charges back up12v when on the road. Slick set up. When on the road fridge runs on 120v power outlet. Would love to have a 100w solar panel to keep it charged, but don’t know that I would need it. Overkill. Perfect size for what I do. Battery still charging to 100%. After 2 years of continuous use camping and hotels I am a happy customer. Charging problem was a small inconvenience. Ever went camping and it rains? Inconveniences. Great product Gold Zero. Thanks HT

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have four of these I have four of these. One has some display function issues, but nothing serious, and it still functions well. One of them will no longer charge by solar, I bought it when they first came out. It still charges by USB-C cord and functions fine. The other two work as if brand new and without any issues whatsoever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worthless! Like the other poor reviews... I have only used this battery only three times and now it won't charge. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the receipt so now I have a very large, expensive paperweight. I will never buy another GoalZero product again. Buyer beware!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is my 2nd Goal Zero Yeti The first one stopped holding a charge, so i replaced the battery and keep it for backup. That yeti was purchased many years ago, and was not a lithium battery. I purchased this new Yeti because it is a lithium battery. However, after making my purchases I saw that the Yeti 500x only has a 500 cycle lifespan. When compared to Yeti's competitors this is 1/2 of the lifespan of other comparable products. So, I am disapointed that i bought into Goal Zero again because, on paper, this Yeti also will not last long vs its competitors w/ 2x the life. other wise, yea, its a nice unit. great features and well built.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value Bought for camping, but am done camping for season. Am running small household items on it and am pleased with its working. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another unit that won't charge. I thought that this unit was going to be great and it was for a couple of months and then it would no longer charge. After reading other reviews, the problem is common. I bought this to power my CPAP unit while I was camping and now I just have a boat anchor. I am still waiting to hear back from customer service. I have tried all of their reset to no avail. It would have been the perfect product, if only it would stay working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Power in a Small Package I love this little guy. Works great for camping and any type of small portable power, very light too with the lithium battery. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very high utility value I tested the unit with a Dometic portable refrigerator using either a Boulder 100 BC panel or 12V Yeti charging cable. It worked very well for about 300 hours of service, then the unit would no longer take a charge. It was charging from the 12V cable at the time of failure. It no longer takes a charge using any device. GoalZero hasn't responded to my e-mail request and I'm not going to sit on the phone waiting for tech support. The GoalZero stuff (I have a lot of it) is well built and well packaged for travel. All of it is exceptionally useful and very portable. Its expensive but I don't care about the price. I think of it like climbing gear, I just want it to work when I need it to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OK Unit With Some Annoying Flaws This is a good unit, but it has some irritating flaws. 1) When plugged in and fully charged, the charging and usb-c output port "flap". The battery goes in and out of a charging state, and the usb ports turn on and off. Perhaps I have a defective unit? One can work around this limitation by using the 12v port, but what's the point of having a usb-c port if it doesn't work well? Isn't this terrible for the battery? 1) Documentation is really sparse. The actual maximum voltage is not documented anywhere, but is somewhere around 30v according to support. This really expands the range of panels that can be used with the product and it's frustrating that it took 2 calls to get this information. 3) Input voltage range is really low when compared to other mppt controllers on the market. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this unit to someone, given the plethora of other discrete mppt / bms + battery + voltage conversion options. You're paying a premium for what should be compact and well-integrated components. It's unfortunate that the unit doesn't deliver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Followup on Previous Comment (eric999) This is a follow up to my previous comment, describing the charging issue I had with the unit I received. I am happy to report that there was indeed a general issue with the programming of the units, which has now been fixed by Goal Zero. My unit, among others, was used to identify the cause of the charging problem, which led to a reprogramming of all the Yeti 500Xs. I got the replacement unit last week and it now works flawlessly. I was also pleased with how Goal Zero handles the problem ant the quality of the customer service. I love this power station and it was worth the wait.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Destroyed my tablet and phone!!!!!! Don’t get this! There’s something wrong with the USBs. I was charging my little tablet off of it (usb to micro usb) and suddenly, it was dead, like, wouldn’t charge, wouldn’t turn on. Odd because it’s always been a reliable device, but it was on the older side so I shrugged it off Then, just a few minutes ago, it DESTROYED MY BOYFRIEND’S PHONE! It was a newer device, the Oneplus 6t, he loved it. Was charging it off of the USBc in the Goal Zero and suddenly it died. Won’t accept a charge, won’t turn on, no indicators on the screen that it’s charging. It’s just dead. Exactly like my tablet. I’m just glad it hasn’t done that to my iPad. This sucks because we’ve been wanting to get goal zero stuff for forever as we’re big into off grid life and just got this as our first one. We’re beyond disappointed and now under a lot more stress due to having to get a new phone for my boyfriend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Goal zero 500x Solid product. So far so good. Seems to charge best of solar and good sun. Holds charge fairly well but does seem to drop a bit over a week or so. charges phones very fast. Runs my 4wheelcamper lights and vent fan all night and charges phones for 3 day camp trips while only taking up about 30-40% of the battery so I often just make sure it’s charged before a trip and not worry about bringing solar panel etc

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Failed on second charge I bought the Yeti 500X this week and really like the design and features. It charged to 100% when I first charged it with the AC Adapter. After drawing about 20% of power and charging again, it only charged up to 89%. I tried to charge/discharge several times without success: the unit shows that it is charging for a few seconds then it stops charging. I called customer service and we did a reset but this did not work. I am now awaiting the returned packaging for an exchange of the unit. I see another review from a customer who had the same issue on two units, which makes me concerned that there is a flaw with this model. If I we can update reviews after posting, I will update this review once I get the replacement unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's about perfect for me... except.. I really like this unit. It's about shoebox-size which is perfect for my needs and the amount of power is about right for what I'm looking to do. I like that: - it's small - you can charge it from USB-C or the supplied power input - 300W A/C out was going to be plenty for my needs - It has both USB-C and USB-A ports for charging. I think, in the next 5 years, we'll view USB-A ports for charging as simply the "old way of doing it" - I like the display It really is a great unit to sit in the back of your car and use for day trips to power a fridge or maybe power some lights if you're hanging out in the woods at night. If you need to go a little longer then one of the other, larger units would be better suited. The problem: I had two units and each suffered from the same flaw: Worked great for a week and then, after about 7 days, would no longer charge through the normal charging port. No idea why. I did the whole reset process with them with customer service (called customer service on the first one, then took that one back and bought a 2nd one - same issue and I went through the same steps to try to solve the no-charging problem before giving up and taking it back). Now I think I'm just going to wait for the 1400 to be back in stock (the USB-C ports are on it and the WiFi may be helpful in the future).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Promising Disappointment Was really looking forward to the 500X as it has features that many competitors do not offer. Unfortunately, I have had two different units now and both have failed right out of the box. I make a habit of testing every feature of a product the day I receive it to ensure all features I have paid for are available and functioning properly. The first unit would not charge or provide a charge via the 60W USB-C out of the box. Worked with support and walked through a couple potential fixes the provided. No dice. I went ahead and exchanged it for a different unit. The second unit also had an issue with the 60W USB-C. It would charge via the port, but would not provide a charge. While walking through the steps with support, the unit appears to have "died". The screen is now blank and the unit is no longer responsive. As this is the second unit to have similar issues, I will be returning the unit this time and looking at alternatives to Goal Zero. As stated at the beginning, this is a real bummer as the 500X showed a lot of promise and offered features that other products do not offer. I simply cannot take the risk on another 500X after having two fail right out of the box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for keeping the gadgets going. Have had more power outages the last few years and have a own small gas generator for powering household items. Decided that getting a 500X would be good for clean power for my digital stuff (laptops, iPad, phones, etc...). Love it so far, provides plenty of power for my family's gadgets and I purchased the Boulder 100 panel in case we have extended outages. Very good build quality and am very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not best Lithium Ion chemistry Too bad uses Lithium NMC rather than LiFePO4 like BattleBorn. There's a HUGE difference in charge cycles life, I'd expect Yeti to use premium chemistry and I'd buy if this was remedied. I like the design is portable and self contained.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disapointing introduction to Goal Zero products. I am really glad I bought this through REI. The only redeeming factor of this unit was the customer service the retailer provided. I went through two of these batteries within a month due to the battery suddenly become incapable of accepting a charge from either solar or AC. I only got to use each battery a few times in my house while I was testing out different loads (all under 150 watts, well within the rated amount) while using Goal Zero panels to charge the unit (nomad 50). When I contacted Goal Zero (after a 40 minute hold) they informed me it would be well over 4 weeks to see my battery again. REI accepted my return without question. I love the look of Goal Zero products, too bad the quality didn't match up. I will be shopping elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very very happy with my Yeti 500x Purchased my Yeti 500x through Best Buy, and I am very happy with it. Although, I wish the price was lower, I would rather pay a little extra for peace of mind and a high quality product, with an outstanding costumer support. I use it to power/charge my laptop, phones, cameras, drone, Nintendo Switch, etc. And it does a fantastic job. The integrated MPPT charge controller is a beast!! I have a 175w solar panel and charges the Yeti 500x in NO TIME! It truly blows my mind how cool solar energy can be. Yesterday, we had a power outage (at night time) of a little over 5 hours and ran my wifi/modem with the Yeti 500x and had plenty of juice left to keep my phone charged at 100% and even ran a fan for multiple hours. I can't wait to get my hands on a Dometic fridge and run it with the Yeti 500x with the new regulated 12v port.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 years plus and yeti 500X still going stfrong I received my yeti 500X on 8/12/2020, I have used my yeti about 3 or 4 times a week. I read about the charge cycles and then spent time at the Battery University regarding the battery used in the Yeti 500X. The day I received my Yeti 500X I charged it to 100% just like the instructions indicate. Then after it was charged up I used it until it was at 17%, and then I charged it up to 85 to 87%. I have cycled my Yeti 500X over several hundred times at maximum charge 87% and maximum discharge to 17%. I also don't fast charge my Yeti 500X, I use a couple of boulder 100 panels to charge up my Yeti 500X. I know there were some software issues when this unit first came out. I waited a while before I purchased my own Yeti 500X. I am glad to say my Yeti 500X hasn't had any issues and has been very reliable. There are a few and I mean very few times when I charged my Yeti 500X to 100% due to some upcoming snow storms here in Montana. I will say I do wish the price point was lower but having said that I still remember what my dad told me " you get what you pay for" so I will say due to the excellent customer service I have had, I will say the Yeti 500X is worth the money. I will also say I first purchased the Yeti 200X to see how it would handle heat and cold and being thrown around in a pickup before buying the 500X. The 200X worked fine for almost 2 years and then one of the USB ports quit working, I was about a month away from the 2 year warranty so I called customer service to report the issue. I had saved my box and after speaking to customer service I followed the instructions and sent my Yeti 200X back to Goal Zero. Soon thereafter I had a new 200X. This isn't the first time I experienced great customer service from Goal Zero. I had to recently contact Goal Zero as a new Yeti 1000X I had purchased from Costco for a really great price, wouldn't even turn on, battery was wasted or so I thought. The guy at Goal Zero customer service gave me some advise as to how to get this dead Yeti 1000X up and running. I closely followed his instructions and after a few charge and discharge cycles it is working like it should, and so I wish to say to the people at Goal Zero customer service a big THANK YOU. I am truly pleased with my Yeti 500X. Keep up the good work Goal Zero. Just my thoughts from the banana belt of central Montana

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 year review I have owned my Yeti 500X for 2 years. I have tried several other brands of power stations and each one has some limitations which I have yet to find in the 500x after multiple camping seasons. Most power stations will shut off when they have a low energy draw. I use this for My CPAP machine and when it's running, it would never pull enough to keep the other power stations from turning off forcing me to reset the power station multiple times per night. I have had ZERO issues with the 500x doing this. I can run my CPAP for 2 nights with no problem. The other feature that most do not have is you are not able to charge them while in use. I connect a 100-watt solar panel to the 500x and while it is charging I also use it to charge my phones and tablets. While there is a bit of a cost difference between Goal Zero and other brands, the added cost is worth the features you get. 10000% recommended. I will be adding a Yeti 700 here soon to add power to my overland van build.
