Epson Perfection V800 Photo Color Scanner is rated4.58 out of5 by24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my needsI dropped my rating by one star just for the following reasons.1. The 35mm film holder seems flimsy and I wonder how long it will last2. The clips to secure the film holder rails easily become un-clipped with noticing resulting in less than perfect scans.3. During scanning there are often long periods of "Scanner not responding" during a scan but given time things return to normal.4. The Epson scan software is a bit basic.5. Even though the included Silverfast scanning software is free and offers more features, I feel this is a poor product and has great difficulty recognizing the negative areas in the 35m film holder, every image needs to be manually adjusted.6. Using the ICE dust and scratch removal system results in scans that are way to long, increasing scan times by almost 400%Otherwise a superb scanner for the price

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome scannerI am more that pleased with this scanner. I am scanning old neatuves and slides that are many sizes .. Some of the older odd size slides and negatives I was able to made fit in slide trays or trim them. Yes I am an amateur an only want my photos for Sentimental Reasons and a few photographs for an album I am more than pleased with the results they are very good quality after touch up with my photo software easy to use. It would of cost me much more than the cost of the scanner to developer all my negatives . Some negatives that I scanned I had no idea if I even knew who the person or place was and was happy I did not wast a lab fee to develope some of them.. I would definitely recommend it ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent scanner. Produces great quality scans.Pricey but you get what you pay for. Included Epson software is good but not great. Included Silverfast software is very good but not user friendly. Takes effort to learn how to use but once you figure it out, it produces great scans. Would rate it a 4 because of the software but there isn't anything better out there. Tried Vuescan: not as fast nor as good as Silverfast. Could have bought the less expensive model but it just didn't have the features, software was not as good and the scans were not as sharp. This is the one to buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disapointed with the V800My V470 finally needed replacement - so I got the V800. The scans are much more difficult than the V70 was. The film trays are awkward to handle, and with 35mm strips it is very difficult to get a sharp image. The focusing nibs on the sides of the film trays do not give a sharp image when the default position (the arrows) is used. I have adjusted them to the other settings without success. I had better scans with my V470.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullOpened box, found skimpy directions in four languages, followed set up instructions 1 thru 5 as pictures showed and accomplished initial scan. However I cannot get the scanner to do the next image...seems like there is no power to the machine, checked connections several times, downloaded info from startup disc and basics. Connected to a new 27" iMac bought 3 mths ago with Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scanning photos and negativesI bought this to scan negatives - nitrate, safety film, and glass. It works fine once I figured out all the settings to adjust but it is really slow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Scanning 35mm SlidesI bought this to scan my old 35mm slides. It exceeded my expectations. I was able to capture the color and resolution of the originals and now have them preserved digitally.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome scaner for Glass Negatives !!!!!After reading numerous reviews about different scanners for digitizing glass negatives, this unit was highly recommended. I have used other scanners in the past but this unit is by far the best. Working on a new book and this scanner is perfect for my needs. Scans are quick, easy and perfect!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from V800Overall, the V800 is a great scanner that fits my needs but the film trays/holders on my older Epson scanner were much easier to work with and didn't attract dust like a magnet the way these do. The poor design of the film holders takes away from the overall experience and I find myself having to re-scan my negatives because of the presence of fine dust particles caught in the film tray.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Capable UnitThe V800 installed easily and without issue. Unlike a few of the Epson printers I've bought, it hasn't had any issues. Let's hope that continues.
