The only improvement is that I would like is for it to create an OCR'd PDF. I was spoiled working with high end scanner applications, Excellent PDF's for the price

Rated 5 out of 5 byA Road Warrior from It works, but fails to calibrateI purchased a "refurbished" unit, it and the software work and are simple enough to use, but it consistently fails to calibrate. I have had to experiment with brightness and contrast settings to get a nice image without print through on double sided documents. The case I ordered for it is nice, semi-ridged and has a webbed pouch for the USB cable.

There are a number of scanners available that will scan both sides but most of them are very expensive. This Brother 720D works great and actually scans fast than my large scanners. The fact it is portable is a real plus. Definitely worth the price

Rated 5 out of 5 byMemeP from Love it!!small, lightweight, fast. Since it is powered via USB you can keep it in a desk drawer and just take it out and plug it in when you need it. In my opinion the resolution is good enough for photos, I haven't had any problems with paper jams, it scans little 1.5" x 1.5" as well as a full sheet, just line the edge up with the guide and it catches the paper, hit the scan button on screen and it feeds right through.

Rated 5 out of 5 byjava from 720D ScannerThe scanner is very good. I like the duplex function. The software could be a little better and less cumbersome though. i refer mainly to BR-Receipts. The lack of support for the software is a real negative as Brother and I have heard that you won't allow uploads of BR-Receipts in Canada. Its a shame because the hardware is very good. BR-Receipts could be a lot more flexible in the database dept. Better recognition of the various fields would be a good place to start and adding extra fields (columns) for ref#'s etc. so users can customize it to their needs would be a huge plus!After all, whats the advantage to scanning receipts if you have to enter all the data and correct every one anyways.Overall, gave it 4 stars as it does scan very well in both duplex and one sided modes. Paperport is so far the most useful piece of the software bundle as it is flexible and easy to use.

When I drag images into the software, its accuracy in reading the scan is about 50%. The other software that comes with the scanner also doesn't work w/ my mac. this includes the receipt software and normal scanner software. Whenever i scan anything over 400 DPI i get a blank image. I expect better from brother. I spent hours online trying to find new or updated software/drivers/firmware to make it work and got nothing

When I lost the disk, Bothers had helped to get the program back. Have had it for over a year and no complaints.
