Delivering the highest level of reliability and performance in a 1U form factor, an IOLAN SCS offers robust security, flexibility and next generation IP (IPv6) technology, ideal for managing remote equipment via their serial console ports. comes in 16 port size, the IOLAN SCS series has the right fit for your advanced console management application needs.

IOLAN SCS console servers enable administrators to securely access remote serial console ports on equipment such as PBX, servers, routers, network storage equipment and security appliances through an IP network. Data management information is protected through standard encryption tools such as Secure Shell (SSH) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Access by authorized users is assured via authentication schemes such as RADIUS, TACACS+, LDAP, Kerberos, NIS and RSA Security’s SecurID tokens.

By using encryption technologies, an IOLAN can protect sensitive and confidential data from a serial device such as a credit card reader before being sent across a corporate Intranet or public Internet. For compatibility with peer encryption devices, all of the major encryption ciphers such as AES, 3DES, RC4, RC2 and CAST128 are fully supported.

The IOLAN SCS has built-in fault tolerant capabilities to ensure secure and reliable access for managing important mission critical equipment. Dual Ethernet interfaces on the IOLAN SCS provide a backup network path while dual AC power supply models ensure that console management is available even if the primary AC power source fails. For remote administrators that require access from home, on the road or in the event of a total network failure, an optional IOLAN V.92 modem card delivers a solid, integrated solution with direct phone line attachment via its onboard RJ11 jack.

With support for Next Generation IP (IPv6) the IOLAN range provides organizations with investment protection to meet this rapidly growing standard. Demand for IPv6, which is compatible with IPv4 addressing schemes, is driven by the need for more IP address. With the implementation and rollout of 3G cellular networks, a robust method is needed to handle the huge influx of new IP addressable devices on the Internet. In fact, the US Department of Defense has mandated that all equipment purchased from 2005 be IPv6 compatible with full implementation by 2008. In addition, all major Operating Systems such as Windows, Linux, Unix and Solaris, as well as routers, have built-in support for IPv6.

It is therefore important for end users and integrators to select networking equipment that incorporates the IPv6 standard. The IOLAN line with support for IPv6 already built in, is the best choice in serial to ethernet technology.

All Perle IOLAN SCS models are backed by the best service and support in the industry including Perle’s unique lifetime warranty. Since 1976 Perle has been providing its customers with networking products that have the highest levels of performance, flexibility and quality

Perle IOLAN SCS32 32-port Remote Access Server is rated 4.60 out of 5 by 59.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Provides excellent access management, is very intuitive, fast and quite flexible What is our primary use case? We predominantly use this solution for our data storage, primarily making DB backups. I'm a lead data engineer. What is most valuable? The product is easy to use, very intuitive, fast and quite flexible. We can manage access and controls using Amazon policies so it's very secure and provides secure implementation methods. All those features help our day-to-day processes and functionalities. What needs improvement? File versioning could be improved and I'd like to see some additional security features. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using this solution for five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? We haven't had any downtime in the years we've been using this product. We also have disaster recovery setups but haven't needed them. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Scalability is pretty good, we have over 100 plus users, and inherently all our applications interact with S3. We use it heavily, it's our main storage medium. How are customer service and support? The tech support is very good. We had some help with the configuration and some of our niche use cases and more complex aspects of the implementation. Apart from that, we've rarely needed any S3 support because the UI and the functionality itself are straightforward so you don't need to go beyond the standard documentation provided. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We're a small organization and previously had an on-prem solution that was more expensive for us with a lot of overheads. It didn't make sense to continue using it. How was the initial setup? It's a simple deployment once you get the hang of it. We had two people managing the deployment. You can develop your own templates for repeated actions and automate repeat jobs. It's not complex. We're currently using more than 200 terabytes. We're using three different modes so we're using the solution extensively. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We were able to reduce our licensing costs by exploring the different storage classes and different lifecycle management policies. It's a very good tool to control your costs and automate a few of the routine tasks which typically take significant manual effort when you need to write ad-hoc jobs. The storage is quite cheap although there are some processes that bump up the cost. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick and easy to deploy with good reliability What is our primary use case? We are making custom applications to the cloud. We are service providers. In terms of use cases, where a company wants to deploy their applications instead of building their servers on the premise, on the company premise. They can just, instead of buying servers and setting up networks and everything, buy space online on the AWS cloud. That way, you don't have to buy an expensive server. You already have servers online. You deploy your application. That's the main use case we are handling now. For example, if you have an in-house ERP, you want to move everything to the cloud. We migrate clients, for example. from on-premise to the cloud. If you have heavy tasks, there are computations that require heavy, powerful machines. What is most valuable? The solution is stable and reliable. It’s easy to set up. Technical support is excellent. Amazon, especially its cloud, is the best on the market. It can lower costs as you won’t need physical hardware on-site. What needs improvement? Regarding S3, S2, and E2, all I'd recommend is for pricing to be lower since we can easily overuse them. For example, if a certain resource is left unchecked, you can easily use a lot of it and drive up costs. For how long have I used the solution? We’ve used the solution for a while. What do I think about the stability of the solution? AWS is very, very stable. It's actually the most stable cloud service for S3, for all the services provided on the cloud. They're very stable. However, compared to others, they are costly. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We started this year, so we haven't gone much into it. We became partners this year. Right now, we only have one client that we have recently started locally in Kenya. How are customer service and support? The tech support is good. It's perfect. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is very straightforward. AWS is the easiest to set up. It's the best actually among the cloud providers. It’s number one compared to Google Cloud, Oracle, or Microsoft Azure. It took a few hours to set up. What about the implementation team? We are integrators. We are able to handle the setup ourselves. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Their prices are higher than say Microsoft Azure or Google. So AWS is very easy to use yet expensive. Licensing is pay as you go. The more resources you use, the more you pay, however, they seem to be more costly than competitors. What other advice do I have? We have two options for the cloud. We can choose Oracle Cloud or AWS. We take what is suitable depending on the plan and the cost implications. We became AWS partners this year. I’d recommend this and any other AWS product to others. I would rate the solution eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Amazon Web Services (AWS) Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Integrator

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable, responsive support, and scalable What is our primary use case? We have multiple use cases for Amazon S3. We use Amazon S3 for storing static data and as a static site load balancer. What needs improvement? Amazon S3 could improve the load balancers. They are very basic compared to other solutions in the industry, such as F5. It has to be able to be analyzed up to a certain level. The basic features need some improvement, users should not have to use any third-party solutions, Amazon S3 should provide those particular features. The feature at present does not suffice most of the requirements of an enterprise-class organization. The security could improve in Amazon S3. I am not seeing any value in the solution in security. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Amazon S3 for more than two and a half years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Amazon S3 is a stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability of Amazon S3 is good. However, it could be changed to make it much better than it is today. We have approximately 25 projects that are using this solution. How are customer service and support? We have 24/h support from Amazon S3 and their support has been very good. We have had quick response times. Within two to three days our issue gets resolved. I rate the support from Amazon S3 a four out of five. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? The initial setup of Amazon S3 is of a medium level of difficulty. It's not easy or difficult. There are certain things that need to change from a documentation perspective, or from an ease of use perspective. The configuration needs to be more user-friendly. The full deployment of Amazon S3 took approximately 15 days. What about the implementation team? We did the implementation of Amazon S3 in-house. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There is a license to use Amazon S3. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Before doing any project we have criteria sheets to follow, we evaluate any solution on-premise or on the cloud. We compare all the cloud solutions, such as Oracle, Azure, and GCP, and whichever solution we find better for our requirement, we design a solution using it. Our main corporate website is posted on Amazon S3 and our evaluations determined Amazon S3 was the best solution for our use case. This is why we choose it. What other advice do I have? My advice to others is Amazon S3 is a good solution. However, it depends on the use case that you have. This will determine if this solution is the best fit or if another solution would be better. The requirements of your use case have to be met. I rate Amazon S3 an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Amazon Web Services (AWS) Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very strong internet storage solution, with great archival capabilities What is our primary use case? We use this solution as readily available internet storage. What is most valuable? We find the archival capabilities of this solution quite valuable, because we can have set policies of exactly when, and what to archive. What needs improvement? We would like to see improvement in the ability to moves files within this solution. At present the process is not straightforward, and requires us to download files to our micro service service before then uploading into the solution. In addition, the transfer bit rate for the process is very slow. For how long have I used the solution? We have been working with this solution for around five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? We have found this to be a very stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? This is a very scalable solution. How are customer service and support? We have found the technical support for this product to be pretty good. What other advice do I have? We would recommend potential users of this solution to ensure they have micro-services in place, in order to carry out data transfers. We would rate this solution a 10 out of 10. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly scalable, scales well, and plenty of documentation available online What is our primary use case? We use Amazon S3 for storing documents and hosting website content. What is most valuable? The most valuable features of Amazon S3 are the performance and hibernation data options. Additionally, there is a feature that provides faster website access that is helpful. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Amazon S3 for approximately two years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? My advice to others is for them to read a lot of articles on the internet as much as possible. There is a lot of information available on the internet. I rate the stability of Amazon S3 a ten out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have 10 people using the solution in my organization. The scalability of Amazon S3 is good. We have not used a large amount of data to fully test the capabilities of the scalability. However, it worked well for our needs. How are customer service and support? We have used the support from Amazon S3. The support is expensive and could be reduced. How was the initial setup? The initial setup of Amazon S3 is straightforward. However, understanding the policies for the first time can take some time to figure out. The time it takes for the deployment of the solution depends on many factors. The process can be quick. What about the implementation team? We did the implementation of the solution in-house. There are a lot of articles and documentation available for implementation. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The cost of Amazon S3 is low. For R & D purposes there is a free option available. There is a license needed to use the solution. I have been satisfied with the storage overall price. What other advice do I have? Amazon S3 is 99.99 percent stable. We have never had an issue. I rate Amazon S3 a ten out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The solution is simple and affordable to use and the setup is straightforward as well What is our primary use case? We use the solution to store deployment logs and tech information. What is most valuable? The solution is simple and affordable to use. The solution's API Integration requests are straightforward; we just have to integrate and acquire the service. What needs improvement? They should improve in the area of metadata curation. Sometimes we open metadata via open source or ground stations in the area. They should design some features with improved performance where we can gain insights as well. It will help in maintaining the solution considering the cost. It would be great if they get a new feature with the QV mechanism. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using the solution for seven or eight years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate the solution's stability as a ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is a very scalable solution. I have 100-300 colleagues using the solution. How was the initial setup? The setup was straightforward. We had an engineer help us establish configuration between the backend and the object. We had to work on the permissions, and the rest was easy. What about the implementation team? We have an in-house engineering team. They are skilled in doing the entire setup. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? It's worth the price considering its functionality. What other advice do I have? I advise others to have a support team. They should ensure the best practices for transferring the use history from AWS onto other applications via the cloud. It's very easy to find those actions. Most importantly, they must be very careful about the solution's security. They should plan the automation model right, ensuring to maintain the surface area for security. Otherwise, they have nothing to worry about as the solution is well established. I rate the solution as a ten. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helpful for storing data, easy deployment, and useful encryption What is our primary use case? Most people who need to store files usually turn to Amazon S3. The use case for this is not only for me but for anyone building technology who needs to store files. How has it helped my organization? Amazon S3 helps to store data, such as Excel, audio, and video. What is most valuable? An important feature of the Amazon S3's system is that it offers encryption while the files are at rest. This is crucial in ensuring the security of the files being restored and addressing potential security risks. That's what I would emphasize. What needs improvement? The cost of the solution should be reduced. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Amazon S3 for a long time. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate the stability of Amazon S3 a ten out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I rate the scalability of Amazon S3 a ten out of ten. How are customer service and support? I rate the support of Amazon S3 a seven out of ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? The implementation of Amazon S3 was easy. What about the implementation team? I did the implementation of the solution myself. What was our ROI? I have received a return on investment using Amazon S3. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The price of Amazon S3 should be reduced. I rate the price of Amazon S3 a ten out of ten. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I did not evaluate other solutions before choosing Amazon S3. What other advice do I have? I rate Amazon S3 a nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from The management console helps with the filtering and returning of data What is our primary use case? We use Amazon S3 for data storage purposes. We use the stored data for restoration or backup when there is a data leakage in websites and mobile applications. For enterprise-level applications, the stored data is also used for data analytics, backup, recovery, etc. How has it helped my organization? The tool helps us with data backup storage of payment files and helps us avoid issues with clients when we miss the data. For instance, in the payment file of my Google client, you can find details of one-to-one transactions like the payment information on the file header, payment ID, payment client ID, group headers, etc. We get these details into the file format of ISO which is the accepted format at JP Morgan & Chase. Once we get the file format, we process it through S3. In S3, we do the syncing process where everything is automated as per the business logic. The data is sent to S3 after the syncing process. S3 will evaluate the data and the format and store it for backup purposes. Whenever we miss a payment, we can just recover the history from the storage bucket. So it helps us manage the features, cost, and regulatory aspects. What is most valuable? I like the S3 Lambda access point and S3 management console which helps with the filtering and returning of data. What needs improvement? Many customers use this tool. We use it for enterprise application data where we store all cloud-native application production data. You can upload any amount of data and access it from anywhere to deploy the applications. However, the tool needs to improve its performance. Clients can reach more end users if the overall process is faster. The solution can be a perfect tool if it can add more S3 storage classes and manage the authorized users to one bucket and give access to the storage usage and activity trends. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for the past two years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution’s stability can have a rating of eight out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I would rate the solution’s scalability a seven out of ten. Scalability depends on the size of the data which can be zero bytes to five TB which is the largest. How are customer service and support? I would rate the customer service and support a nine out ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? AWS S3’s setup is not complex, and in fact, manageable. The number of people required for deployment depends on the data. If it is a Single Page Application with single-page data, then one person is enough for the deployment. However, if there are payment files involved, then you need around three to four people in the team to deploy it on the cloud. What was our ROI? There is ROI with the use of the tool. Organizations can benefit from the tool with their business logic. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The tool is not too expensive considering the various pros. What other advice do I have? I would rate the solution a nine out of ten. I am not sure about the solution’s version. It should be either four or five. I have practical knowledge of the tool like its implementation. We store data on the S3 bucket and take it to present to the database. The tool is manageable and maintainable by anyone for their work. This is a perfect tool for data storage. It is good to use S3 as a storage bucket for data. Rated 5 out of 5 by from The solution's most valuable feature is its Uptime availability, especially for the cloud version What is our primary use case? We are using the solution to secure the content. What is most valuable? The solution's most valuable feature is its Uptime availability, especially for the cloud version. Its peak uptime is good. It offers 99.9% availability. What needs improvement? The Folder Access policy needs improvement. They should make it much more user-friendly, then it will be fine. The major challenge is the inability to create more than ten policies. When we want to create folder access, they provide some policy and then give the folder access. There should be an option to have a sub-folder for each folder. They should provide a distribution of access. Presently, we can't access all subfolders at a time. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using the solution for three years now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate the solution's stability as a ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability of the solution is ten out of ten. We have more than fifty users of the solution at our company. How are customer service and support? When we raise the ticket, we get a response within five to seven days. There needs some improvement. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? The setup process is simple as we are using the cloud solution. We configured the setting as per our requirements. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I rate the solution as one for pricing. It is expensive but much more secure. What other advice do I have? I recommend the solution to others and rate it as a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easiest to use compared to other solutions, and can store different file formats What is our primary use case? We use Amazon S3 for storing images and documents. We use the solution for all file formats, and Amazon S3 gives us back URLs rendered on our end users' laptops. What is most valuable? My company uses Amazon S3 by default for every single project. I like that you can use it for storing different file formats. Amazon S3 is also the easiest to use compared to other solutions. What needs improvement? The pricing for Amazon S3 needs improvement. Another area for improvement is the file size change because it has some limitations that require more time for rendering, especially if you're not merely uploading a file, but reviewing that file, too. It takes some time to receive the file back. In the downloaded format, the file gets compressed. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using Amazon S3 for almost five years on many projects. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability of Amazon S3 could be better. Though it's better than Google stability-wise, the rendering needs improvement. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? There's no complaint about the scalability of Amazon S3 because it's more of a pay-as-you-go solution. You have to pay when you exhaust your storage, and the cost is a little higher, but there's no issue scaling the solution. How are customer service and support? Amazon S3 customer support is good. The support team sometimes waives the technical consultation fee, unlike Microsoft Azure and GCP, which charge you for every consultation, even when you try to solve the issue or DIY it. Sometimes, Amazon S3 support gets delayed, but Amazon has great engineers who come up with solutions to your issues rather than wasting time. How was the initial setup? Amazon S3 has a straightforward setup. It's simple because it's just a plug-in, so it takes little time to set up. It only takes two hours to set up Amazon S3. You use the Chrome browser on your phone. It's as easy as that, so every developer knows how to do it. You deploy Amazon S3 manually. It's a simple process. You sign up, take a storage folder, and then link the folder to your project. It'll take two hours, and that's it. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The cost of Amazon S3 could be better. The solution needs to be less costly. As the number of data increases, you'll pay more for Amazon S3. It's around $200, which is okay, but my company uses it less often. For a file storage solution, Amazon S3 is expensive, though it would still depend on the project. It's more of the storage charge that needs to be lowered. Usually, Amazon gives you up to five TB free. Suppose Amazon charges you $200, that's fine, but it doesn't feel very justifiable, though there's no question in terms of the abilities of Amazon S3. There's no extra cost for Amazon S3 except for personal storage. What other advice do I have? My company has hundreds of customers using Amazon S3. I recommend Amazon S3 to others because Amazon has an IT cloud-first approach. It has microservices that could benefit your organization because, development-wise, it's outstanding. It has more reliability and stability. Amazon S3 boosts performance, which saves you time. Though it comes with a premium price, with the time saved, the solution can help grow your business faster. Before you even start using Amazon S3, I recommend seeing the available microservices and looking into what Amazon is trying to improvise and build so that you can use it for new projects and save on time and cost. My rating for Amazon S3 is eight out of ten, but if the rendering speed, stability, and performance based on file size are better, I could give the solution a higher score. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Implementer

Since the solution is used for data storage, it is not scalable. Its availability is very good. I rate the availability a ten out of ten. How was the initial setup? It is very easy to create a bucket in S3. The option to create buckets is available to the users right when they open the S3 console. We can just create a bucket and start using it. What was our ROI? We definitely see an ROI on the solution. We can store terabytes and zettabytes of data in S3. We pay very less for it. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The product has one of the best pricing in the market. It is very cost-efficient. The cost depends on the data we access. If we access a particular data regularly, we must pay for it. If we know that we will need the data after three to five years, we can store it in the archives, which will cost us less. What other advice do I have? The product has no specific version. We can create buckets and use them. It is a data storage service like Google Drive. I have not used all the features of the product yet. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good cloud infrastructure, good technical support, and is scalable What is our primary use case? We are using Amazon services to create the SSX and other services. What is most valuable? Cloud infrastructure is the most valuable feature. What needs improvement? We are already utilizing cloud services, and Amazon is providing us with an abundance of options. As we move forward, we must ensure that we are obtaining the best value for our money when it comes to pricing. The price of Amazon S3 has room for improvement. The current solution is not ideal, as it requires us to log into multiple dashboards and technical services. To improve our centralized monitoring or central idea, we need to create a single centralized system that can provide access to all services. The stability of the solution has room for improvement. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I give the stability a seven out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I give the scalability an eight out of ten. We have 50 people using the solution. How are customer service and support? The technical support team is good. How was the initial setup? Most businesses have different needs, so the solutions we use vary depending on the context and requirements. We can utilize different approaches based on specific circumstances. The initial setup depends on the environment. What other advice do I have? I give the solution a nine out of ten. I believe that cloud-based services such as cloud computing and cloud security from Amazon's pipeline services are becoming increasingly popular. These services provide a great technological infrastructure for us and I have no doubts or reservations about them. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Suitable for different use cases, simple implementation, and cost effective What is our primary use case? We have a data warehouse and a data lake using Amazon S3. Additionally, we use it for application streaming. We have our computer systems that have storage but we do use the cloud storage available from Amazon S3. However, it depends on the type of data we have and whether we use the cloud or not. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of Amazon S3 is its flexibility as a solution to suit many different use cases. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Amazon S3 for approximately six years. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Two third of our company use this solution. How are customer service and support? The support is better than other cloud providers but sometimes it takes a while to have a resolution to our issues. I rate the support from Amazon S3 a seven out of ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? The initial setup of Amazon S3 was straightforward. I rate the initial setup of Amazon S3 a ten out of ten. What about the implementation team? We have a few developers that we use for deployment. What was our ROI? The solution is worth the money and we have seen an ROI. However, it is not our primary goal. We are trying to optimize different areas. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a reliable solution for application logs and other read-only data What is our primary use case? We use S3 buckets to store logs from the application side. The logs stay on the server for seven days. After that, we transfer them to the S3 bucket, depending on the application, and the logs help us correctly troubleshoot problems. We can also host web apps in the historical bug bucket. If you have a domain name from Route 53, you can create a bug bucket over there and whatever is in the web applications folder. About 40 people at my company use S3. What is most valuable? You don't have to specify your clone, availability clone, or your locations. Everything's over there. They have a receipt for the instance where we have to select the exact location of what we are clicking. The S3 storage capacity is high, and the price is reasonable. What needs improvement? The free web and DB hosting could be improved. It could be faster when you download huge files from the S3 bucket to your local system. If the S3 bucket availability and performance could be improved, we would consider hosting our database over there. For how long have I used the solution? We have worked with AWS for two or three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate Amazon S3 nine out of 10 for stability. How are customer service and support? We usually don't need much help unless we experience some technical glitches. Amazon has helped us in those instances. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? You can deploy the solution in under 10 minutes. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The price is based on the size of your files and how long they will be retained. If you want something like a grade 2 segment and 10 GB of data transfers, it's around $0.5. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We use S3 because all of our applications are on AWS. We have to use everything on the same cloud platform. The cost will be too high if you need to configure things to work across multiple cloud providers. It's highly complicated and expensive to set up cross-routing. What other advice do I have? I rate Amazon S3 eight out of 10. It's highly stable, scalable, and cost-effective. I recommend S3 depending on the customer's requirements. It's good if you need to store a large amount of read-only data. It isn't for block storage that you need to edit, but it's good for storing application logs. Rated 5 out of 5 by from An always available infrastructure that is easy for users with minimal technical knowledge What is our primary use case? Our company uses the solution to store data from our analyses. More than 90% of our employees use the solution because our whole system and services are on the cloud. How has it helped my organization? The solution and all AWS products have improved our productivity because the infrastructure is always available. You just pull a service and start using it. What is most valuable? The infrastructure is always available so use can start using services immediately. The solution is easy to use for anyone with minimal technical knowledge. What needs improvement? There are some scalability limitations. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for awhile. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable with no issues. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We know there are some scalability limitations but we have not yet reached them. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We previously used an on-premises solution. How was the initial setup? The setup is easy but it depends on what you would like to handle. There are different policies and selections but all of it is definitely easy. What about the implementation team? We implemented the solution in-house. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Rated 5 out of 5 by from It has versioning and pre-signed URL creation features What is our primary use case? My use case for Amazon S3 is storage, particularly for unstructured data. What is most valuable? What I found most valuable in Amazon S3 is its versioning feature. I also like that you can create pre-signed URLs on the solution. What needs improvement? The query size in Amazon S3 has room for improvement because it's limited. Querying on Amazon S3 is also expensive with Amazon Athena, so that's another area for improvement in the solution. For how long have I used the solution? I have two years of experience with Amazon S3. I've been using the solution continuously. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Regarding stability, I'm rating Amazon S3 eight out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? My rating for Amazon S3 scalability is eight out of ten. How are customer service and support? I didn't encounter any issues with Amazon S3, so I have yet to contact the technical support team. How was the initial setup? Setting up Amazon S3 was very straightforward. What was our ROI? The ROI from Amazon S3 is good. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing for Amazon S3 is reasonable, so price-wise, it's a seven out of ten. What other advice do I have? In my company, one person deployed Amazon S3. That person is also in charge of maintenance. There's a possibility of increasing Amazon S3 usage in the future. Still, that depends on how much GB my company uses. It depends on the use cases. I advise anyone planning to implement Amazon S3 to stick to the basics and follow the documentation to learn how to set it up. My rating for Amazon S3 is eight out of ten because it's a very good solution. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Availability, with High Performance, IAM access control, and server-side encryption at a low cost What is our primary use case? The primary use case of this solution is for the storage of large amounts of data. It's a public cloud deployment model that anyone can deploy. There is no need to upgrade as they don't have versions, it's a managed service, it's hybrid. There are changes that we make internally. It's Amazon S3. What is most valuable? The most valuable features are the high availability, high performance, IAM access control, and server-side encryption. What needs improvement? Some of the areas that could be improved are the dashboard, and to have a richer functionality. Because there are so many services offered by Amazon, they can do anything. If we were to add anything it wouldn't be anything inside of it, but services on top of it. There is a concern with security. In one of our main use cases, we prescreen, but we have to create a gateway or layer on top of it to access the data in that particular case. Because the user accesses the data, they to be authenticated before doing so. It indicates that the users of our systems need to gain access to this data. Amazon allows access with this mechanism called Presigned URL. We need to share files, so we upload the file and request a link from Amazon, which allows you to share with anyone. The link is signed, which is the reason it is called Presigned. However, this sign is not compliant with internet regulations. In our company, we are concerned with privacy regulations. In the United States, there is a law and regulation that is called HIPPA. It's a regulation on how to keep patients' data private and how to protect it. Amazon S3 is eligible for HIPPA compliance, but not with the Presigned URL. This is very important and because we cannot use the Presigned URL, we have to build the layer on top of Amazon S3. As a result of having to do this, we lose performance, availability, and we lose some benefits of Amazon S3. A feature that should be included is to find and provide a HIPPA compliant solution for the Presigned URL. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using this solution for five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? This a stable solution. We are not aware of any technical issues. We are a large company and everyone uses this solution. Approximately one hundred users in different areas made up of developers and administrators. While we have a small technical team, there is almost no maintenance with this solution. It's fully managed. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? This solution is scalable. How are customer service and technical support? Technical support is very good. They are very professional and they respond quickly. If they don't have a solution, they will contact they development team in Amazon and provide you with a detailed response with a solution to resolve the issue. They are very thorough and I really appreciated it. They helped me. I am more than satisfied with the support and would recommend using the support. If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch? We have not used any previous cloud-based solutions. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward. The download is very easy and can be used in seconds. What about the implementation team? I performed the implementation of this solution. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? This solution has reasonable pricing and a low cost. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We didn't evaluate other options. Amazon accounts are straightforward. There is always a choice on whether or not you will use the cloud. If you make the choice to use the cloud then you can choose if you are just using Google or Microsoft. When you already have an account with Amazon, your choice is Amazon S3. There are other solutions, but for us the choice to use Amazon S3 was clear. What other advice do I have? It's difficult to offer advice as it depends on the use case and what this solution is intended for. This solution is managed fully, and there is no need for upgrades or anything. It's cloud-based. If you just Gmail, you don't upgrade Gmail. I would recommend this solution for companies of any size. It's good for starting up because you only pay for what you use. It's internet-capable, making it good for any company. I would rate this solution a ten out of ten. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helpful technical support, good reliability, and capable of expanding What is our primary use case? Most of the files and some of the services connect, using the Amazon service. Our application foundation is on that and we are writing our solutions right now. After that, we will begin to sell it to other customers. What is most valuable? The main aspect we like is that it's been easy to use. The solution scales well. The solution is stable. Technical support has been helpful. What needs improvement? The pricing and licensing are pretty complex. It needs to be simplified. They have no development environment. That means that even during the development time, we are paying. The initial setup can be a bit complex. It would be helpful if there were more templates available. For how long have I used the solution? Our application is still new. We are just in development. Our testing environment is on Amazon S3. Most of the files and some of the services connect, using the Amazon service. Our application foundation is on that and we are writing our solutions right now. After that, we will begin to sell it to other customers. We've used it maybe for about a year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. Up until this point, we haven't had any issues. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The product can scale well. It's very easy to do. We have around 6,000 people using the solution currently. How are customer service and support? Technical support is okay. If there are some problems, we can contact them directly. Most problems are on our side as there are some configurations and other things we did wrong. We've noted our issues and have fixed them going forward. However, it's on us to fix them, not Amazon. How was the initial setup? The initial setup can be a bit complex. That said, my company is an IT company and therefore it's not hard for us. If there are other people that maybe aren't in IT, if they use the Amazon service, it could be complex to them. In terms of maintenance, sometimes if there is some problem, right now we have only three engineers. It's a little bit hard to maintain it with just that small amount. That's why we're hiring some professional companies for that. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We pay for the solution on a monthly basis. We use a basic license and any additional fees based on usage. It's complete licensing. It's not simple at all. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We did look at an option from Google, however, there were some restrictions and we decided against using them. What other advice do I have? I'd advise new users to read the documentation before deciding on using the solution. I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten. We're pretty happy with its capabilities. The stability is very good. It's an easy solution to set up. What needs improvement? Maybe it could be a bit cheaper. There are many people using it or willing to use it, and the data size is increasing. It is reasonable at the beginning, however, then it is starting to get a bit expensive as the data size is increasing incredibly. It is getting more expensive. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for maybe a few months just to understand the product how it works. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The product is stable. The performance is good. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable. How are customer service and support? I've never contacted technical support and have never dealt with them. Therefore, I cannot speak to helpful or responsive they would be if a person needed help. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I did not previously use a different solution. I did not use a cloud before. How was the initial setup? We have found the product easy to set up. It's simple. it's not too complex. It took about one week to set everything up. What about the implementation team? I handled the implementation myself. I did not need the assistance of outside help from integrators or consultants. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution started off reasonably priced, however, it is getting more and more expensive. It's a free service for one year. What other advice do I have? I'm an end-user. I'd rate the solution a nine out of ten. I'm pretty happy with its capabilities. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Secure, scalable, and easy to manage and understand What is our primary use case? I am managing the S3 storage solution from Amazon. From Microsoft, I'm managing the Azure administration. I handle that. As a part of that, I need to create the virtual machines, a point to site to VPN and Azure AD, AD synchronization with Windows server, a database server, mail server, and web server. I administrate all that. We use Amazon S3 for storing files and documents on the cloud. I fill out the user whenever the files they use are downloaded. That is fully automated. After a few days, it can delete it. I've done the policy for the automated deletion. Amazon S3 is great. We are using it for storage solutions. How has it helped my organization? Due to using S3, our data documents are safe and easy to access. It is better to keep them in the cloud as opposed to in our internal drive. You can access them from anywhere. Especially during the pandemic period, we are able to access remotely, as well. So it's good. What is most valuable? We are using the basic S3 bucket. It is easy to manage and easy to understand. What needs improvement? We need the mapping to Windows. That feature is needed in S3. That feature is in the Azure cloud where we can map it like a drive. We can map the cloud storage to the effort driving our Windows PC. But Amazon is not providing that feature for the S3 solution. In the next release I would like to see mapping on the Windows machine. In Windows, there are drives right in volumes. We need to map these Amazon S3 storage to the Windows. That usually is available in the Azure. I would like to have that in the Amazon as well. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using Amazon S3 for just six months as of now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? In terms of stability, it is good and has no issues. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We can scale Amazon S3 for storage. We can increase or scale up and we can scale down. It's easy to manage. I'm happy where I'm at right now. If we need more storage, we will implement. We'll scale it up. How are customer service and support? As of now, I haven't needed to contact support. It is really easy to manage. Even for the small issues, we can just Google the issues and find the solution. For complex issues, we may need to contact them, but as of now, I haven't needed to. I haven't faced any issues like that, so I didn't contact support. We have found that there is enough online documentation regarding S3. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We switched because of the security and scalability. It is highly secure because nobody can access it. Before we had solutions using an FTP and SFTP. That protocol is different and we are now using the S3. We need a shared key and an access secret key to access the particular storage. Without that, we cannot access. We cannot do anything. So security is more important. That's why we switched to Amazon S3. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is simple and easy to manage. It's not actually a deployment. It is a simple step. Within five minutes, we can deploy it. Our implementation strategy for the solution is based on the user's document files and how much GB they want and how they want to access that particular story's solution. Based on that scenario, I create the S3 bucket on the cloud for the particular users - whoever wants to access that particular S3. I created that particular IM user, the user access for that particular storage. I make an access policy to that particular storage. What was our ROI? Our ROI is good based on our usage. We have multiple users who are accessing this S3 storage. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? It's a monthly pricing. We are happy with the pricing. What other advice do I have? Amazon S3 is a great solution. My advice is to have an implementation strategy based on the user usage. On a scale of one to ten, I would give Amazon S3 an eight. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nicely integrated with AWS and is available on the AWS console What is our primary use case? Our primary use case of S3 is as an online storage solution. For example, in one of our projects, we were working on a document management system, so there were some documents that we processed and then stored on S3. We also used S3 to store some logos and images. This is a service on AWS, so it's cloud-based. What is most valuable? Some of the most valuable features are how convenient and easy to use S3 is. It's nicely integrated with AWS and is available on the AWS console. What needs improvement? It could maybe use more integration. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using S3 for about three years. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Since this service is on AWS, you can scale it for storage and performance. There are a few thousand users, in my organization, using the AWS platform. How are customer service and support? I don't remember us having a case where we needed support on S3. How was the initial setup? Since it's cloud-based, you don't really install it. You may need some certificates to access it, which need to be installed locally. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I know there are certainly monthly and yearly licensing plans, but I'm not sure which is more preferable. The yearly ones could probably be more affordable, but that's just a general suggestion. What other advice do I have? I rate S3 a nine out of ten. I don't want to give it a perfect ten, but it's very close. For the purposes of online storage, it's pretty good. I would definitely recommend Amazon S3 to others because it's easy to use, quite powerful, and does its job very nicely. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beneficial automation, useful CLI, and simple implementation What is our primary use case? I am using Amazon S3 mainly for daily backups. How has it helped my organization? Amazon S3 has helped our organization because the daily backups can be done automatically with automation. We do not have to spend time on it and I am confident with Amazon S3 in its ability to recover our data. What is most valuable? Amazon S3 is easy to use and it is beneficial to use the CLI to make the backups. Since I use the CLI I do not have to do it on a web portal which is a big advantage because everything can be automatized. Automation can be done very well in Amazon S3. What needs improvement? The solution could improve by having a simpler way to have the detail size of a file in the CLI to be read or understood easier. Today, it's a little raw in the way the details are presented. You have to make some scripts and some modifications to be able to see the information properly of the size of a given bucket or the size of a file. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Amazon S3 for a long time. I used the latest version because the CLI is normally updated. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability of the Amazon S3 is good. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability of Amazon S3 is great. We are a small company and we have approximately five developers that use Amazon S3. We use the solution on a daily basis for hourly backups. How are customer service and support? I have used the support from Amazon S3 a long time ago, I have not needed much help. When I did have contact with them there were times it took a while for a response. I would rate the technical support of Amazon S3 a three out of five. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? The main difference from other solutions I have used is Amazon is the leader, and it has a very large number of zones and capacity, while others can be smaller and can have different options. Not all the options that are available in Amazon S3 are offered by other competitors, but for the main features, most of them are working fine. I have been evaluating two different solutions, one from a French cloud-based company called Scaleway, and the other is peer-to-peer storage. How was the initial setup? The installation was simple. Creating a new bucket and deploying it is very straightforward. To make the script deploy a new bucket takes approximately one hour. I would rate the initial setup of Amazon S3 a four out of five. What about the implementation team? We did the implementation ourselves and we have two developers that do the maintenance of the solution. What was our ROI? The return on investment has been very good because the backups of our database are critical for our business to operate. I would rate the return on investment of Amazon S3 a four out of five. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The price of the Amazon S3 is reasonable. There are not any licensing costs, they have a pay-as-you-use model. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I have evaluated other options. What other advice do I have? My advice to others is to separate the buckets project, not to put everything in the same bucket, and be sure to implement IAM rules to avoid problems between users and not to lose any backups. The implementation process is important. I rate Amazon S3 an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful life cycle policies, highly stable, and simple setup What is our primary use case? I am using Amazon S3 for storing all the organization data, which comes from a data pipeline. What is most valuable? The most valuable features of Amazon S3 are the accuracy and the life cycle policies, which help when moving from Amazon S3 to Amazon Glacier. What needs improvement? Amazon S3 could improve some of the features, such as indexing, or we should have more information about all the data stored in a single place. This way we can see what data resides where instead of going in different buckets, file locations manually, or searching. An index would be nice, allowing us to directly go to a location to use the date. For how long have I used the solution? I have used Amazon S3 within the last 12 months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Amazon S3 is 99.99 percent stable. The solution is highly stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability of Amazon S3 is good. If we want more storage we only need to pay extra. All the workloads of the whole company go to Amazon S3. As our workloads increase, the data increases, and we will use more storage in Amazon S3. How are customer service and support? I have not used the support from Amazon S3. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have not used another solution similar to Amazon S3. How was the initial setup? The initial setup of Amazon S3 is not complex. We are only using it for a storage layer and there were not any complexities. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The cost of Amazon S3 is good. The pricing model is based on the usage of the solution. What other advice do I have? I would recommend this solution to others, it is one of the most used storage solutions. I rate Amazon S3 a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low latency, reliable, and simple to maintain What is our primary use case? We use Amazon S3 for data extraction because a few of the source information for our organization requires us to rely on it for any data point input. Because it was only mined for the purpose of data extraction. What is most valuable? I think it is reasonably good. What needs improvement? It's difficult to say because I've only been working with it for six months. The installation could be more straightforward for inexperienced users. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Amazon S3 for six months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Amazon S3 is a stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We were limited to two people because pricing is a consideration. I'm not sure, because as a team, we use it, but I'm not sure how many there should be in the company. We have four on our team. How are customer service and support? We have not contacted technical support. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is moderate. It's neither easy nor difficult. It is reasonable. Because it depends on the individual, I suppose, but my usage is moderate. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I am not sure about the pricing. I have seen the pricing on AWS, but I believe it's a discount price for organizations. I wouldn't know because that is something confidential between the company and AWS. What other advice do I have? My advice is to use it. The storage factor and data extraction are faster because we can use Redshift for extraction. It has very low latency. I would rate Amazon S3 an eight out of ten because we are on the cloud, and again, from an organizational standpoint, it is beneficial even for data maintenance Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easily connects with the cloud, hardware, or other services to move data What is our primary use case? Our company uses the solution for backups, data pumps, files, and logs. Our projects connect to the solution rather than individual users connecting to it. What is most valuable? The solution is within the Amazon architecture so it easily connects with the cloud, hardware, or other services to move data. We do not need to connect to direct services to download data. What needs improvement? The solution requires you to buy and use Amazon services. The solution could be more auto functional. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for one year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability is good so I rate it a ten out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable. It is easy to add gigabytes or more users and is more a question of budget. How are customer service and support? I have not needed technical support. How was the initial setup? The setup is very easy. Every junior Dev Ops can set up the solution and use data storage. What about the implementation team? We implemented the solution in-house. There is no deployment because it is a data storage solution. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution is very inexpensive at 50 cents per gigabyte, per month. Some packages or discounts are available. Big companies can use the solution for free. Which other solutions did I evaluate? You can use the solution for projects that are within the Amazon architecture. You cannot use the solution if you have your own services or data centers because it is dependent on the Amazon architecture. If you have a service such as Azure in Amazon, then you can use the stream but not the solution directly. What other advice do I have? The solution is great for data and cloud storage. I recommend the solution and rate it an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for data storage although upload speeds are sometimes slow What is our primary use case? Our primary use of S3 is for storing data. I'm a senior associate. What is most valuable? This solution is valuable in that it helps us store all types of data. It's also easy to delete data when necessary and it's very user-friendly. What needs improvement? The upload speed for data and documents is sometimes slow and it would be helpful if that were improved. The other issue is that downloading data is quite expensive. For how long have I used the solution? I have used this solution for the past three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? We occasionally face stability issues with respect to upload speed but it's very rare. How are customer service and support? The customer support is good but it could be improved. When we raise a ticket, sometimes we have to make a follow-up call because we haven't heard back from them. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? The initial setup was easy. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I find Amazon to be more efficient and more scalable compared to other solutions on the market. What other advice do I have? I find this solution good for both structured and non-structured data, as well as data access and encryption. It reads more requests per second than other solutions. I rate this solution seven out of 10. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Offers high availability, fault tolerance and scalability What is our primary use case? We use this solution for storing the input-output of our processing. We are customers of Amazon. What is most valuable? Version control is great, it means we can store incremental data, and get high availability and fault tolerance. If we accidentally delete something we can recover it by using S3. It also enables the option of reverting to old files. What needs improvement? The read drive speed is not as fast as it should be. If we want to access data, we should be able to do it quickly. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using this solution for five years. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable, there are no limitations on storage. There are around 10,000 users in the company. How are customer service and support? Amazon provides good documentation for this solution so we've never contacted technical support. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is easy. It just requires logging in to AWS, and it's available. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? This is a pay-as-you-use, on-demand service. It's not very expensive. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We went with S3 because of its high availability, fault tolerance and scalability. Those are the three main reasons we chose it. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deploys in minutes, easily scalable, and extremely stable What is our primary use case? We use the solution to put our static web pages on the backend servers when we use Cloudfront if a transformation is required. When a request reaches Cloudfront, we have to mask some information in the response by transporting it. The solution masks or transforms the request so the backend can understand them. For example, We have a proxy server in between the NGINX engine, and when a request hits the NGINX engine, it has a different format. The NGINX engine converts and secures the information before hitting the Cloudfront. We use the Lambda function which is a Python program so the code body stays in the Amazon S3 bucket and when a response is returned from the backend server we can mask some of the information, keeping only the required information for the end response. I also use Amazon S3 for batch processing. Two gigabytes is a lot of data, especially if we are adding or updating information. If we have a Java application, it can take a long time to process two gigabytes of data. I split the data into multiple 50 or 30-MB files to make it easier to process. I created a manifest file that specified which rows belonged to which files. Then I used the solutions batch processing with Lambda to create a pipeline that performs batch operations. I use the solution for life cycle management. The information goes from the standard storage to the infrequent, and after 30 days it is moved to the glacier. How has it helped my organization? Amazon S3 provides us with a ready-made server. We have the option to secure our case from public access, We can give access to the targeted audiences only with the signed page and signed requests. A signed request is also provided to the target audience so that they can use the link for requesting the object to be seen by the Amazon S3 bucket. We have a cloud formation template that we restored into Amazon S3 and during the launch of the AWS services, we only needed to execute the command from the Amazon S3 bucket. With the solution, we can simply provide our resources and files to Amazon for the code references using Lambda functions instead of keeping tiny scripts in the Amazon S3 bucket to restore codes. What is most valuable? The integration with Cloudfront helps in fetching the static phase and default phases in case our actual service is down. Instead of our customers receiving a response that something is happening in the background and trying the site later, we can redirect our page from one page to another, using the Amazon S3 bucket links in Cloudfront. What needs improvement? I would like a batch downloading option added to the AWS console. If we have a bucket in Amazon S3 and for example, we have 50 files that we want to download locally on our system, we need to download them one by one. We can batch-download the files with the command, but from the AWS console, we cannot select all the files and download them into a folder. An option to delete multiple files at one time would be a nice feature to be added to the AWS console because we currently have to specify the individual file names. For example, if five files are present, and we want to delete them, then each file name has to be entered separately. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is extremely stable. I give the stability ten out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scaled automatically because it is cloud-based. Whatever our demand is the solution has no limitations or restrictions. I give scalability ten out of ten. How are customer service and support? We have only had the need for technical support three times using the solution and they were not able to resolve two of the issues because they were not supported by them. In most cases, we are able to resolve the issues using the information found on forums. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Previously, we used our local hard disc and the local remote service. We were facing a lot of problems that cloud solutions have solved, like availability, and down servers or IP not reachable. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward. At the time of our deployment, we had one issue with our targeted audience not being able to access specific pages even after we followed the guidelines and video tutorials from AWS. This was three years ago and has probably been addressed. The deployment only takes a few minutes depending on the context. We just run our command from either the CLI or the AWS console and the smart configuration is complete. What about the implementation team? Most of the time we work with our customers and they provide us with their network settings and all the AWS services that will be hosted in their network. Once a customer has created their accounts, and has applied their security and network settings, they provide us with the working space and using that information, we can deploy Amazon S3 to their network. What was our ROI? There is a 70 percent return on investment when transferring from external storage to Amazon S3. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The cost is based on the amount of storage required and if we exceed the data transfer rate across regions. If we use an external encryption key and not the one included by AWS, the data transfer between the key server and our Amazon S3 server will incur a charge. What other advice do I have? I give the solution ten out of ten. The solution is a web service that is hosted on the cloud only. Even if we tried to deploy it on-premise, we couldn't because AWS has the outpost service. Outposts are a way to create an AWS cloud environment locally, but some services are not available. S3 is a regional service and has to be serverless. Amazon S3 doesn't require any maintenance except perhaps one or two people for identity access management and a way to validate users. All of our AWS developers use Amazon S3 including our migration people who have to take a backup using the solution for all the projects. Amazon S3 is the perfect service for all applications for personal use. Anyone can use this solution regardless of their location with an AWS user account. The solution offers good web service and is perfect for anyone that wants to set up a minimal startup static web page for information purposes easily. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Amazon Web Services (AWS) Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:partner

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent features, hearty scalability, with varied use cases that fit almost any client What is our primary use case? We are very flexible with our use cases and it fits most clients. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature is the automated replication of the data. You can store things and they automatically replicate somewhere else. So if you have an issue, you have a backup, and that is very good. You can set up how often you want it backed up, and I find that extremely useful. What needs improvement? I would like to see the API for beginners improved because it is hard to understand. It is based on the idea of a container when most programmers just understand directories and subdirectories. For a beginner, the API is a bit confusing. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with Amazon S3 for the past four years What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is very stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability is definitely present from hundreds to thousands depending on the client. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have used other solutions in the past, but none of them are as scalable. How was the initial setup? The initial setup If you have the experience is fairly simple. If you do not, then it is fairly complex. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I know it is very inexpensive compared to other solutions. What other advice do I have? I would basically recommend that individuals just follow the guidelines AWS as they are very good. I would rate Amazon S3 an eight on a scale of one to ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Rated 5 out of 5 by from A beneficial solution for data blocking and analysis with good virtual machines What is our primary use case? We use the solution for data blocking and analysis. It is also used as a storage solution, gene access and maintaining access. What is most valuable? The most valuable features are VNet, virtual machines, and Elastic Kubernetes Service. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using this solution for eight years and are using the latest version. It can be deployed anywhere. We can use a console and data from and on-premises. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is a stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is a scalable solution because it is low latency. We have several users and plan to increase usage in the future. How are customer service and support? I rate the technical support an eight out of ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable, easy to set up, and inexpensive What is our primary use case? We primarily use the solution for file storage. What is most valuable? It's a very good solution that makes it easy to save. It is easy to set up, and it's cheap. We have to pay as long as it's used, however, it's not so expensive. The product can scale. It's reliable and stable. What needs improvement? My company is in several regions with some offices in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Sometimes we have to concentrate networks to a certain location, like the EU, for example. Therefore, if we set S3 in the EU region from the Middle East or Africa, the latency is an issue and we find it hard to connect to that S3. If we could have a much faster connection, it would be better. While the price is pretty cheap, it could always be less costly. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for about three or four years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It's very stable and reliable. I'd rate stability almost ten out of ten. There are no bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have a team of ten on the solution right now. We may increase usage in the future. It's a scalable solution. I'd rate it eight out of ten in terms of the ability to expand. How are customer service and support? I've never used support. I'm not in a position to ask for AMazon support. Therefore, I cannot speak to their level of service. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We were only on-premises previously. We've never used a different cloud solution. How was the initial setup? This is a very simple product to set up. It's not overly difficult. The process is quite clear and straightforward. The deployment times vary from project to project. Sometimes, you can deploy everything in a day. Sometimes it takes a week. Checking sessions usually take some time. What was our ROI? We have witnessed an ROI while using the solution. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing is very reasonable. We do not find it expensive at all. We pay a monthly licensing fee. I'd rate the pricing five out of ten. What other advice do I have? I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. I'd recommend it to other companies or users. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Object storage service that provides comprehensive security and MFA that prevents accidental deletion of data What is our primary use case? We use Amazon s3 to store objects like data in my environment. How has it helped my organization? In one of my previous environments, I was brought in to help with the challenges they were facing resulting from a data breach in the S3 bucket. What I noticed in that environment was that every user had full access into their S3 bucket, and accidentally deleted data without a trace. They did not know how some of their data was missing. One of the first services I suggested was enforcing access control by applying IM best practices, such as granting list privilege permission to our users to avoid overpowering them. I created a single group and then applied specific permissions to that group. All users added to that group were able to inherit the same permission and privileges. Versioning was enabled which keeps multiple variant of objects in the same bucket and also safeguards against accidental deletions. I also enabled multi-factor authentication which prevented accidental bug deletion by requiring the user who initiate the delete action to prove physical possession of an MFA device with an MFA code. What is most valuable? The versioning of this solution for accidental deletion has been most valuable. What needs improvement? You need to fully understand the solution's best practices to get the most out of its security features. What do I think about the stability of the solution? This is a stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? This is a scalable solution. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward. What was our ROI? We have seen a return on investment with S3. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I would rate the pricing a nine out of ten. Pricing depends on a particular class where you want save your objects. There are different classes when it comes to storage in S3. What other advice do I have? I would advise others that this is a scalable solution that offers comprehensive security. I would rate this solution a ten out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Global availability, resilient, and excellent support What is our primary use case? I am using Amazon S3 for our retail portal sites and data scientist users are using it for analytics and Athena. What is most valuable? The most valuable features of Amazon S3 are the global availability, resiliency, and ease of access control. What needs improvement? Amazon S3 could improve the performance reports. It would be a benefit if they were more comprehensive. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Amazon S3 for three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Amazon S3 stable is very high. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability of Amazon S3 is very good. We have approximately eight to 10 concurrent users using this solution. How are customer service and support? The technical support is good. I rate the support from Amazon S3 a five out of five. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I previously used Blob Storage in Microsoft Azure. We had a multi-cloud strategy, and we had both solutions available to use. For some projects, we used Amazon S3, and for the others depending on what services they needed to use, we used Microsoft Azure. We got Amazon S3 and Microsoft Azure for different projects. How was the initial setup? Amazon S3's initial setup is easy, and simple to work with. I rate the setup of Amazon S3 a four out of five. What about the implementation team? Once Amazon S3 is set up, the developers use it for doing analytics and there isn't much in the way of ongoing maintenance. What was our ROI? We have received a return on investment using Amazon S3, we find it inexpensive. What other advice do I have? Amazon S3 is straightforward, scalable, and globally available and there are some good security features for making sure control over access is taken care of. I would recommend this solution to others. I rate Amazon S3 a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from A stable solution that provides data transfer acceleration, enabling fast, easy, and secure data transfer What is our primary use case? Amazon S3 is used for storage service. It's designed for 99.9% durability; hence, our data is highly protected against failures. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of Amazon S3 is the data transfer acceleration because it can enable fast, easy, and secure data transfer. What needs improvement? The solution's cost should be improved. The solution's performance needs to increase for small objects. Amazon S3 is excellent for large projects, but its performance can be comparatively slower for fewer small objects. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Amazon S3 is a stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Around 2,000 to 3,000 users use Amazon S3 in our organization. How was the initial setup? The solution's initial setup is easy. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? While storing data in Amazon S3 is relatively inexpensive, there are costs associated with retrieving or transferring data across continents. Connecting Amazon S3 with real-time applications can increase data retrieval costs. What other advice do I have? Amazon S3 is deployed on-cloud in our organization. Our company decided to use Amazon S3 because of its global availability. AWS has multiple data centers around the world. If you're using the public cloud, using Amazon S3 combined with Amazon S3 Glacier is correct. The data will be stored in Amazon S3 storage, and the cost will increase. Instead of keeping the data in Amazon S3, putting the archive file in Amazon S3 Glacier is better. Overall, I rate Amazon S3 a nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cold storage helps you save money by storing unused data What is our primary use case? Currently, I am a cloud solution architect. I consult with developers and set up the architecture needed to deploy a solution. If a solution needs to be deployed within AWS, we sit down with the client and discuss the services that are most appropriate for that solution and design the architecture, which is given to the review board for approval. The AWS services we consume are dependent on the solution. Users from various departments will use the solution, depending on what's being deployed there. What is most valuable? We have cold storage here, and I think that's useful. When it comes to commercialization, it's cheaper to put data that you won't be using into the data storage. You only use a little bit of the data needed each day for your transition, so you pay less. What needs improvement? There could be more flexibility in configuration to allow more ways to connect to outside the PPC. For how long have I used the solution? I started using S3 at my previous company, so I have been using it for five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? S3 is very stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Amazon S3 is highly scalable. How are customer service and support? I rate AWS support 10 out of 10. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? Setting up S3 is straightforward. At first, it was difficult because I didn't know how to use the solution. Now it takes less than five minutes to deploy S3. A solution architect needs to create a plan for what needs to be deployed, and the developer will deploy the solution. Most of the engagement happens before the deployment when the architect and the developer come to an agreement about the approach. One person procures the services, and others will test them and put them into the live environment. What about the implementation team? We deployed the solution with the help of a consultant, who helped us implement some of the heavier stuff in the data lake. However, we did the basic stuff in-house because we've got the VPC to do it ourselves. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The licensing cost is not bad. However, you need an understanding of the solution you're deploying and the services running. You will save money by shutting down some of the services when they're not in use. What other advice do I have? I rate Amazon S3 nine out of 10. It's an excellent product. I'm also working with it for my personal use. I'm putting my documents and pictures into the S3 bucket. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has good auto-scaling features What is our primary use case? The primary use case of this solution is for storage. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of the solution is auto-scaling. What needs improvement? I would like to see an easier setup that doesn't require as much training. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution auto-scales so it is easily scalable. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward as long as you are familiar with the cloud services. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The cost varies based on the type of subscription you chose. Currently, I use the solution for my phishing server and I pay $15 per month. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Before choosing the solution I evaluated DigitalOcean. What other advice do I have? I rate the solution nine out of ten. I suggest if you are interested in using the solution you should also use the other services offered by Amazon such as AWS, and EC2 so you have access to everything in one place. Auto-scaling is very costly if you don't manage to control it. You need to have good training and understanding of the solution. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable with high usage What is our primary use case? We are using Amazon S3 for storage. This is a Cloud solution. We have developed a new application which has partly been released to the end customer, but not the complete solution. In the housing market, we have a lot of buying and they use the application to manage their lectures and receipts. This is what we are using Amazon S3 for the storage. What needs improvement? Amazon S3 can improve by decreasing the overall costs. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Amazon S3 for approximately one and a half years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Amazon S3 is reliable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have not used Amazon S3 extensively, but the usage has been very high. We have approximately 40 to 50 people using this solution. There might be an increased usage. How are customer service and support? I have not contacted the technical support form Amazon S3. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have not used other similar solutions to Amazon S3. What about the implementation team? The implementation of Amazon S3 is done by a third party. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The price of Amazon S3 could be less expensive. What other advice do I have? I rate Amazon S3 a nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install with good security and helpful support What is our primary use case? One of our clients required certain files to be processed and stored. As another separate service, they wanted a separate integration to capture those files or pull those files. As a storage location, we used S3. It was cloud storage between two services. It was an integration between two services. What is most valuable? Security-wise, it's very good. The scalability and availability are great. The installation is easy. It's a stable solution. The multi-zone replication is great. Technical support is helpful. What needs improvement? We would like Amazon to reduce the price of storage. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for eight months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is very stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It is reliable and the performance is good. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution can scale very well. Almost all of our clients use S3 for different requirements, however, I have gotten involved for about eight months with one client. How are customer service and support? Overall Amazon support has been very helpful. When we have queries, when we have challenges, they were responsive. I'm a happy customer of Amazon support. How was the initial setup? We found the initial setup to be very straightforward. There is not any cumbersome configuration. It's very, very straightforward and easy to implement. The deployment took a few hours. That includes handling the security configuration. You only need one or two people for deployment and maintenance. What about the implementation team? As an implementor, I can help a client with the setup. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Amazon should work to revamp its pricing structure so that pricing comes down. What other advice do I have? I'm an implementor. I'd rate the solution ten out of ten due to its scalability and availability. It also allows multi-zone replications. I would recommend this to customers - especially those that are geographically diverse. Companies like this should consider S3 as shared storage or for integrations required for file transfers and between multiple zones. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from User-friendly with an easy setup and good pricing What is our primary use case? Usually, I use it to make deployments and service solutions in the cloud. How has it helped my organization? I don't have to waste time buying some computer or buying some external list or whatever they want. I can buy S3 in one minute. I don't have to spend time going to shops or anything like that. The payment is really good, easy. I save a lot of time and money with contract people that have to format the computers and install all the applications. I can do snapshots and recover data very easily. What is most valuable? It's a very good solution. It is very user cool and very user-friendly. I don't have any problems with the solution. It's issue-free. I can get a lot of information and data out of the solution, which is critical for me. It's able to keep diversions quite well. The product provides for an easy initial setup. What needs improvement? The solution needs to improve test recognition. We need bots to test that are better. It's just not as good as Google, for example. My main issue is security. If a code is entered incorrectly, it could leave you vulnerable to attack. I'd like to see more connections between EC2 and S3. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for two or three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is very stable. I never had any problem with S3. It's good. The only problem for me is that it is very easy to put in code that might have some mistake, and, in the end, everybody sees your information. You could have an attack or a hack in as it is very easy to change the entire software. That is a big issue for me and the guys. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I don't have any problems with scalability. I have not run into any limitations, however, there may be limitations in terms of the number of folders. That said, I've never seen any scalability issues. We have ten to 15 people working with the solution. However, it depends on the day. For example, sometimes I am using S3 to produce some information for e-commerce. In e-commerce, I have all the images and all the information that I need on a pdf. However, I'll have some websites where 1000 people are basically connecting. How are customer service and support? Technical support is inefficient and poor. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I am also familiar with Google products. I previously used some solutions based on MinIO. How was the initial setup? The solution is very easy to set up. It's not difficult or complex. How long it takes to deploy depends on each project. Some might just take minutes. Others may be longer. How many people you need for deployment also varies according to what's needed. What about the implementation team? Sometimes we handle it in-house and sometimes we have others handle the initial setup. What was our ROI? I have seen an ROI. Previously, I needed a lot of people to store, deploy, maintain. Now, I have only a couple of people to work at all this stuff. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing is pretty good. We don't have any issues with it. I spend $20,000 more or less every month. What other advice do I have? We are a customer and end-user. We sometimes use the latest version of the solution, however, it depends. They normally update users on the direction of the product. I'm not sure if we have the latest right now or not. With this product, you can manage your distribution and manage all the different hosted data and who is able to serve or write on the backend. If you make a mistake, you can return to the previous iteration. It's good, even though sometimes it can be a little slow. The price and the quality are very good. I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Amazon Web Services (AWS) Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A cost-effective and flexible solution that provides high storage What is our primary use case? We use Amazon S3 to store source files. We load the data we ingest from the source system into the solution, which is then consumed on Snowflake. What is most valuable? Amazon S3 is very flexible and provides high storage. What needs improvement? No direct connector is available to connect Amazon S3 with other tools like MicroStrategy. So, I have to use a third party and connect to it. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Amazon S3 for three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Amazon S3 is a stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Around 50 users from the infrastructure team are using the solution in our organization. How are customer service and support? The solution's technical support is pretty good. Although the support team's response time is a little slow, everything else is fine, and they are resolving our issues. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? The solution's initial setup is comparatively difficult because only someone with cloud knowledge can use Amazon S3. What was our ROI? Amazon S3 works on a pay-as-you-go model, and it is worth the money if used to its potential. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution is cost-effective because it is based on a pay-as-you-go model, where I can purchase and use it according to my needs. What other advice do I have? Our organization chose Amazon S3 because of its scalability, security, and encryption. Since the solution is used for storage, it provides a higher transfer rate to transfer files from one location to another. Amazon S3 is a good choice for someone with a lot of files and needs a lot of storage with easy computation, scalability, and backups. Overall, I rate Amazon S3 a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Is stable, scalable, and has multiple types of data detection What is our primary use case? We use it for static website hosting, storing data, and second data of some of the websites. We can then easily sync the data whenever we have the need to do so. Some of our websites are 2 or 4 pages and have static content. We can simply host it by creating a bucket, putting the content of the website there, and making it available to the public with the Make Public feature. What is most valuable? Amazon S3 has multiple types of data detection. You can store data on a monthly basis, yearly basis, and long term basis. You can choose the Glacier feature, create a life cycle policy, and store it. This is one of the best features this solution has. It is stable and scalable, and the installation is very straightforward as well. What needs improvement? The only pain point is migrating the life cycle policy because if someone is a newbie, they cannot easily create the life cycle policy. This is because there are multiple, additional ways. If I want to store data for one month, they have the option to Glacier over it. With Glacier, you have addition policies for one year or four years. The option will not be there. So you would need to use a UI process over it. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using it for almost the last four years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I think the stability of Amazon S3 is good. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is scalable. We currently have 40 plus users. How are customer service and technical support? Amazon Protect Support has been been quite responsive. How was the initial setup? The initial setup was completely straightforward. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The licensing is pay as you go, and I'm happy with the pricing. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We didn't evaluate other options because there's no such available feature in the market at present that can compare all the things in a bucket, like S3. What other advice do I have? If you are a small scale enterprise that wants to host websites or data, you should go for it and use Amazon S3. I would rate Amazon S3 at nine on a scale from one to ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flexible with good pricing and a straightforward setup What is our primary use case? We primarily use the solution in order to share static files among web applications and mobile applications. What is most valuable? The ability to have everything in the cloud is the most valuable aspect of the solution. It allows me to only pay for what I use. Therefore, the pricing model is very useful. The initial setup is straightforward. The solution has been stable so far. We've found the scalability to be good. What needs improvement? I don't really have any pain points with this product. There isn't really anything to complain about. It does what we need it to do. Technical support could have a faster response time. They are a bit slow right now. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for three or four years or so at this point. It's been a while. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is fairly stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable and its performance is good. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability is good. If a company can expand it, it can do so with ease. Mostly, we implement this solution for small businesses. At this point, neither we nor our clients have any plans to increase the usage. How are customer service and technical support? Technical support is okay. They aren't good or bad. They are somewhere in the middle. Our main issue is the fact that they take too long to answer questions. Sometimes you need to wait up to two days to get any kind of response from them. They need to provide answers in a more timely manner. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is not difficult or overly complex. It's very straightforward and easy to implement. A company shouldn't have any issues with the process. The deployment times vary according to the company and its requirements. It could take anywhere from days to weeks. You only need one person to handle the implementation process. It doesn't take a big team or a lot of people. What about the implementation team? We are an implementor and can implement the solution for clients if they need us to. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing is very fair. It's actually pretty inexpensive. We only pay for what we use. We don't have to pay for anything else. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We did not evaluate another product before ultimately choosing this solution. We went immediately to Amazon. What other advice do I have? We are implementors. I would recommend the solution to other companies. it's a very flexible product. It's cheap. You pay for what you get. It's just a cloud. AWS has a really good cloud implementation. I could not compare it with any other -such as Azure or Google - as I have not tried any of those. Users who would like to look at other options should check out Gartner's Magic Quadrant. However, any company can go easily to AWS straight away and be sure that they're going to pay a good price for a good service. I'd rate the solution at a ten out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective for storing data, provides inexpensive storage, and stable What is our primary use case? We use this solution to store the historical data of the customer. Additionally, we are creating JSON format data while running our application and we are pushing this JSON format data to the Amazon S3. What is most valuable? This solution is good at storing historical data and we were using it for other purposes. What needs improvement? When we need to find the queries there is no user interface, it is the only textual format that is bulky. If we need some data we will use Athena for queries and we will get results. When comparing this solution to others, such as DataDog, they provide a wonderful UI, and user-friendly dashboards, and many other features that this solution is lacking. We have found that the query takes too much time to process and it is quite difficult to receive the data. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for approximately three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I have found the solution scalable. How was the initial setup? The initial setup was quite complex. We needed to create some endpoints but with a little effort everything turned out alright. Additionally, we use Kafka queues and we send them to the S3 bucket. With the help of shell scripts, we run one script and we receive the data from Kafka queue, topic by topic, and we send the data to the S3 bucket. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The cost of storage is cheap. However, the cost to have a better interface can get expensive. We are using Athena for this purpose and if we did some heavy queries the cost will start adding up. When the Athena query is running, it will scan the bucket and they charge for how many GBs we are going to scan. The function of scanning has a lot of costs attached to it, this is a negative point. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I have evaluated Datadog and Kibana and we are planning on moving away from Amazon S3 and S3 Athena because the other solutions provide the latest technology. What other advice do I have? We should not use this solution for the purpose of the logs. We realized if we need to track the logs and a few other things we should use a good log platform which would have been better. We plan to keep using this solution in the future but only for a specific set of purposes. We are moving away from S3 to a different solution, such as Datadog or Elasticsearch because 80% of the usage is only for storage purposes. We will keep on doing the same thing in the future. Only 20% of our usage we are planning to move from S3 to a log platform. I would advise others if this solution fits the use case or expected usage for the end-user then I would recommend it. If they can afford everything that is involved, such as storage and usage fees, then it would be a good choice. They have to consider how frequently they want to access the data from the storage, how many heavy queries they want to run, and are they going to manipulate the data or retrieve the data. They should consider all these scenarios before they make the decision to implement the solution. I rate Amazon S3an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sharing capabilities, particularly content sharing by multiple users What is our primary use case? I work as an integrator of Amazon S3 What is most valuable? Normal file system storage is very limited when you want to store additional objects. The concept of S3 is to give you the option to have sharing from multiple users. They can share content among various users in a file system. It has the capacity to scale and to accommodate more files than a normal file system. This solution can really scale according to demand and you pay according to your consumption. What needs improvement? Whatever enhancement they could include in terms of object storage and limitations, would be an improvement. There is a five terabyte limitation size, and in today's world with the data size doubling all the time, anything extra would be helpful. We really need a very, very huge file system, a big data system to accommodate all this content. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is a scalable solution, the product has content encryption and nobody can access it. Amazon has very good security when it comes to securing the S3 buckets. You can keep the content secure and the user can have the encryption key and even Amazon doesn't have access to it. It's very secure. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward. If you want to use it as a target for backup, you redirect the backup software to store data to it by using an API to talk to the S3 buckets. Depending on the application you want to deploy, integration is also easy. Amazon provides good documentation and if you have an IT background and go through the documentation, you can integrate. What other advice do I have? Other companies are trying to reach them but they've been ahead of the game for a long time. As an object storage product and in comparison to what's available on the market, I rate this solution a 10 out of 10. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not reliable First of all - pay for the service contract. Without it, you are in for a bad day. Configuration is not straight forward for the GUI, and it is cumbersome at best - slow at worst (despite being connected to 2x 1 gig full duplex ports). You need additional cables if you plan to use this with most Cisco devices as the provided ports will not work without them. This adds to cost greatly. There is no clear way (if a way exists at all), to log into 1 or more consoled devices at a time - and if you try, the web page hangs and stops working for about 5 minutes. If you exit the one session you have open in the device you are consoling into, and try to log back in again, you get a "Select Hunter Group Busy", and it hangs for about 5 minutes. Simply put - in an sev 1 outage, this is the worst possible device to have as an out of band/console connecting device bar none. As far as network gear goes anyway. Might change my mind if they start updating the documentation better because what they have now is less than helpful unless you helped design the thing and know what you meant.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unlimited uploads with secure and instantaneous data movement What is our primary use case? Our company has 30 staff members who use the solution for data storage. What is most valuable? Uploads are secure and occur instantly. The solution provides good data movement from Snowball to the S3 bucket. What needs improvement? It is difficult to retrieve files in an emergency because the public cloud has data limits for immediate downloads so they often take twelve hours. We need better, immediate control of our content. The cloud and on-premises solutions should sync all data. Infrastructure services could be improved to provide free education related to the solution's features. For example, developers who do not have experience building games could learn how to do so with free support. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for nine years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is very stable and I rate it an eight out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable and there are no limits on data uploads. We upload four TB of data a day. How are customer service and support? Technical support can be challenging because we have to work through account managers. For urgent situations, our tech team contacts support to get assistance. I rate support a four out of ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? The initial setup and creating buckets are very simple. What about the implementation team? We implemented the solution in-house. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Not many products in the market beat the solution in terms of quality or price. The solution charges for data downloads. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We currently use the public cloud but want to use a private cloud because there are speed issues when retrieving files in an emergency. For example, retrieving emergency video files might take twelve hours because the cloud will not allow immediate downloads. A private cloud will allow us to retrieve files immediately without a data limit. We are in talks with GreenLake, Atlassian, and Dell to find the best solution that optimizes our cost. There is a retrieval cost associated with the public cloud so we want to optimize these costs and switch to a private cloud. The solution offers great quality and price. We are closely evaluating the cost of other solutions to determine if it is worth it to move from a solution that works well for us. Cost is a primary concern because we manage three petabits of data. What other advice do I have? I rate the solution an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's more stable and high-performing than its Azure counterpart What is our primary use case? I'm a consultant who provides services for companies of various sizes here in South Africa. Our company is still small, with only about 20 clients. I use S3 for hosting my websites and other storage services. S3 can be used for static and dynamic websites as well as file storage. In terms of dynamic websites, I use S3 in addition to other technologies in a computerless environment. In other words, I don't need a virtual machine to have a dynamic website hosted on Amazon Web Services. What is most valuable? E3's most valuable feature is CloudFront. What needs improvement? You need to do some things to make the files and updates immediately accessible. If you don't know those steps, you will wait forever for your updates to take effect or be seen by the public. That is the only area where a newcomer might get frustrated with hosting on S3. The files are available immediately when they are first deployed, but it takes some time when they make changes if you don't understand the simple procedure you need to follow for it to happen immediately. The process needed to show updates immediately is a problem. You have to go somewhere to delete whatever is propagated and restart the propagation somehow. That is the only issue that I think they could fix with hosting on S3 as far as websites are concerned. I would also like S3 to have the ability to do dynamic websites without the need to do reconfigurations outside of S3. You should be able to switch on dynamic websites in S3, and then it works. I shouldn't need to go elsewhere within Amazon Web Services to get a dynamic website to work. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using S3 for about three years What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It's a cloud service, so our scalability is good. I haven't had any issues. At the same time, I haven't had a situation where a client needed to expand the footprint of their site tremendously. I don't have massive clients like Netflix. How are customer service and support? I was never in a position where I needed to request AWS tech support. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I've also used Azure's tool, and S3 is far more stable I haven't seen the same issues on AWS that I'm having on Azure. Amazon CloudFront is way faster. The websites are loading way faster than when you do it on Azure CDN. Another advantage of S3 over CDN is the fact that I can deploy my websites on Amazon S3 with the root domain and the sub-domain loading the website. When using CDN, you cannot load the website with the root domain. How was the initial setup? In the beginning, it wasn't easy. S3 was a little cumbersome when I started using it. With updates, it became easier to set up static websites. However, deploying dynamic websites in S3 is still difficult. You need to take notes on what you're doing so you can do the next dynamic website. The deployment is quite fast. You upload files, and that's it. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There a no license fees. E3 is a cloud service, and you pay as you go. Your encryption licenses are free, so you only pay for the storage you're using. It's extremely inexpensive. What other advice do I have? I rate Amazon S3 10 out of 10. S3 is highly cost-effective, so I would definitely recommend it. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
