Note… It is not Apple or Mac friendly when setting it up. He will need a Google Chrome browser not Safari in order to set it up. After that it works beautifully!

It was a little complicated as the directions on the app aren't all that simple - at least not for me. But overall, I was able to get things up and running. Looking back, it really wasn't as bad as it felt in the moment. :-)

It worked fine as a network switch, but wireless was awful, and the signal was worse than the free wireless router with my ISP. I didn’t see any value in purchasing the Netgear armor software product either. I think that was a waste of money from now on. I’ll stick to Free or rent equipment from the ISP.

Then tap the IP in the search bar sign in with your admin password enter DumaOs and play with whatever settings it is it you need! I am enjoying it and if you don’t, 30 day return policy I find the bit defender the VPN and the security suites come with to be nice and work great I do have a gig down 1000 Mbps 25 Mbps up everything works great OK

The Blackhawk XR1000 is an excellent choice for people who want to stream data with as little packet loss as possible, specifically for gaming and streaming. Game downloads are blisteringly quick, and upload speeds and performance are perfect for streaming. The management interface is simple and effective, and I could get to what I needed easily. The Blackhawk XR1000 is on my list of equipment that I could highly recommend to just about any gamer!

Since hooking it up we have enjoyed much better speeds and no clashing. Streaming movies/TV shows, music, gaming online, and all at the same time with 3 people doing multiple at a time. I myself usually have music or a streaming service going while I'm playing online. My roommates will usually be playing online, using discord, and streaming music at the same time. I've wanted a Nighthawk since they first dropped and I have not been disappointed. It works so well, it makes me feel like the Emperor Palpatine; GOOOOOOOOOOD. Everything is proceeding exactly as I have foreseen. lmao

Unfortunately I’ve been running into huge problems with stability or paywalls for options that should be included with the hardware. I chose Netgear for their reviews on reliability, speed, power and warranty. It’s only been installed for a week but I’ve not had to reboot once. Not once. Better throughput and power. Only 1 device required to cover as much as what I needed 3 mesh devices to cover previously. Such an improvement.

Constantly drops the wifi signal to various items throughout the house (gaming systems, cell phones, tvs.... I run the diagnostics and it says it is running fine than roughly 5 minutes later it drops the signal again. For a $350 price tag and attached to a very high-end internet connection you would expect more from Netgear and the Nighthawk XR1000 Gaming Router.

It has a triple core CPU but it shows only two cores being used at 100% usage and 1 core at 0%. It kept dropping connection even to wired devices. I returned this product after 3 days. Completely unusable junk.

From a gaming aspect, the geo-filtering is challenging to setup but works exactly as described. I am able to get into the lobbies that match my skill set while keeping me within my region so I have the lowest ping I can. Along with getting a gig speed when wired, I am just floored with the benefits specifically for gaming. I will not buy a different brand router going forward.

Which seems to be doing good at preventing my neighbor from hacking/stealing my wifi. I labeled every device connected to the system and found two unknown devices, blocked immediately on the “device manager” map. Previous router could not do this. At times loading the router settings dashboard is very slow, other times it’s fast. Download speeds are over 300mps. Overall, seems to be a great router. I’ve only had this for a week.

But, lose power and everything disappears... no password protection, all the things youset are gone, and now you have to reset because rebooting changes nothing. It might tell you that it has the latest firmware but you better check because mine didn't and if the power ever goes out then you'll have to redo the firmware and your router will never be the same. I'm beginning to think I should have returned it. But wouldn't you know time was up yesterday. Tech support is helpful but it took me past the time of returning the router. For some reason my proof of purchase disappears too. I've uploaded it twice now. I advice people to shop around.

I was able to redirect traffic, prioritize it in certain devices, and designate a certain percent of usage for each IOT aspect. The software is not as slow as people make it out to be in the other reviews, atleast for Me. All I need now is a new computer and I’ll be top 1% in most of the video games I play

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't work If youre playing on Xbox and have AT&T Fiber (cant speak for anything else cause this is how i was using it DO NOT BUY! Latest firmware does not allow the basic router functions let alone DumaOS operating incredibly slow. Ive had a Nighthawk R8600 for years now and has worked flawlessly, decided to upgrade to the XR1000. Strict NAT on my Series X no matter what i did. Tried for 10+ hours to resolve the issue and nothing would fix it. Port forwarding, DMZ, oh and the UPnP doesnt even work, neither does NAT set to Open under WAN Settings. Kept getting Double NAT, DMZ would fix this but then it would still be Strict cause UPnP doesnt fuction. Latest firmware wont even allow you to turn it on, downgrading to a previous firmware allows you to turn it on but it still doesnt work. I mean that literally, tap shows it on but it doesnt work, might as well still show off. These are the basic functions of low end ISP gateways and a "Pro Gaming" router cant do it. My old router runs fine and gives me an open NAT, with only UPnP and NAT Open under WAN Settings, nothing else needed with that one to get things working correctly.Returning this garbage for a full refund, from what i could tell in the forums is that they are aware but its been months sense the latest firmware with no dates on a fix listed. This thing was put out as a finished product and came standard with DumaOS 3.0 but it appears its still in beta as you will see developers for this software can only trouble shoot with people online, forcing you to take hugely inconvenient steps just to get basic functions working. I didnt volunteer to pay $300+ to be a beta tester. Do your research before buying and make sure everything is worked out before purchase, this review is from September 2021. I will give it to the other functions, my wireless signal was stronger and faster than its ever been and my hardwired connections were also extremely stable and fast. Those were the only positives that got heavily outweighed by the negatives

RAX35v2 gets my full 1,000mbps but the XR1000 gets 450 max. My 4-5 years old router out-performs this newer gaming router. Anywhere access is nowhere access. Don’t even hope that it’ll connect to the router even being directly connected to it. Don’t waste your money.

Also, they added a large suite of cool features to the router, including a bandwidth tracker along with visualizations of bandwidth allocation. Things like port forwarding and other advanced use cases are also very easy through.

When I called for assistance , the one thing everyone forgot to tell me was to activate it on my computer, which i eventually figured out my self. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super fast I had an Eero wifi system set up and would get 70 Mbps on my PS5. Now that I use this router, I get my full 200 Mbps. It is incredibly fast and does not drop my signal to my phone when I move around the house. It's expensive, but now there are no more headaches when it comes to my wifi. Just don't do the smart connect setting where it automatically selects the 2.4 and 5 Ghz for different devices. Some devices can't chose the correct setting. For example, my kids' Tonie Box doesn't support 5 Ghz. I had the smart connect setting on and it would not connect. I turned it off and signed in directly to the 2.4 Ghz setting and it connected.

But like I said when it is working it works wirelessly Amazing. I get around 400 down and 450 (mbs when wireless. Their are some issues wired. But my guess is that the firewall on it slows the download and upload a little. And my guess for why the WiFi is intermittent is probably because I use anywhere access option and that might be the reason. I also just got this router so I’m working out the kinks. If you don’t know what your doing with settings of a router it will be a maze at first but it helps you out in the duma os quit a a bit. But I do think this router is very good if you know what your doing.

It used to take me half a day to download a 90 gigabyte game with my old router from my provider, but with the nighthawk pro it only takes around 20 minutes with wifi. I just about never lag in my games anymore even with like 5 devices being used at the same time. My old router used to shut off randomly so it was very frustrating.I'm very happy with my purchase and I'll check out netgear for anything else I'll need when it comes to internet.

This router begs to differ. We are a gaming family and the ability to adjust QoS, Ping and Traffic was just what I was looking for. No more dead zones or lag. A few simple adjustments and we are just as competitive as the next gamer. Thank you Netgear for such a great router.

I live in about a 600sq ft trailer and our router is able to get us amazing speeds and reach throughout the house. It's safe to say this is one of the best gaming routers out there right now! I get great internet speeds at about a stead 100mbps (It can handle faster internet speeds but that's what my internet is currently capped at.) and really low pings even with 12 devices connected to it at once. The geo filter is amazing, I can specify which server I connect to for better lobbies and can completely disable certain servers with ping too high. Overall a fantastic router. 10/10 highly recommend!

Power went out and it lost my names for my devices which hasn’t happened since so can’t say if it’s an ongoing thing. That is really the only downside. Amazing performance and worth every cent.

So far, I haven’t noticed a significant increase in my ping at all. Gaming seems to be about the same as it was with my old router. (Linksys WRT 1900 ACS) WiFi speeds are faster to all my devices, Ethernet cable is about the same. The nighthawk xr1000 seems to be a reasonable deal. It’s not over priced, it does it’s job, and is worth a try. Don’t expect it to magically make your ISP better. I have charter and I believe your ping only ends up being as good as your isp will give you.

The online software is amazing too and the router is very easy to set up... except for the antennas with are labeled 1..2..2..3 instead of 1..2..3..4... lol. Overall this was an amazing router and well worth the money!

I can definitely tell a difference when playing online not only with the load rate and connection with game servers but also with the ping rate with FPS online gaming. This router so far, has been working fine. However, I’m not the biggest fan of DumaOS. Many features and setting I would normally find in the main GUI are non existent in duma and the QOS has been nothing to write home about. The speeds promised are just not there. This includes wired connections. All of this of course is a “so far” opinion. I’m looking to get a little more hands on and see if I can work some of these issues out myself. Netgear might still have a chance at blowing me away.

My audio is choppy and cuts in and out. My roommate complains about his WiFi signal constantly and his high pings over WiFi 5G. All stuff I never had with my old Linksys router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I’ll be using this for a long while This router definitely performs! I have it bridged with my modem-router and it couldn’t have made my Internet anymore faster! Only thing I may sometimes have issues with involving the router would be moments in which it doesn’t connect to the internet after enabling wireless AP. But that only ever happens late into the night when I should prob get some sleep. Video conferences go really smooth with the bump in speed and it has amazing coverage! Even separated by a whole floor, my PS5 stays connected to the 5Ghz frequency no problem! To anyone looking for a good quality gaming router at a relatively great price, the search is over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great but could get better over time This router is an extremely good upgrade compared to my previous router, albeit it has some downsides such as delayed updates due to multiple testing phases and some minor bugs after firmware updates which I trust will be improved on and fixed over time. However other than that, it preforms it’s job extremely well and offers a multitude of gaming focused features such as Geo Fencing to help select which servers you prefer and want to use to QOS features that help optimize how much bandwidth usage you want to allow per device and has improved my overall gaming experience significantly.

The router was very simple to set up, following the instructions was easy and flows step by step. The router has worked phenomenal and I have not had any interruptions in my Wi-Fi service since installing the router.

I called technical support for assistance to protect guest access and they were fantastic to complete the setup process and ensure everything was working properly and secured.

The online interface has a large amount of customization option, the signal strength is close to what is advertised, it can handle all of the devices I have connected to it, which is close to 50 devices, and the range is so good that I can connect to it from my local park sometimes. That being said, I have had to do a hard reset on it about 3 times on an average week. My tv will randomly not be able to connect to it, or the mbps will slow to a crawl, and the only way I have discovered to fix these issues and others is to do a factory reset on it. The online interface is also very slow even if you take down add block. My overall advice to anyone who reads this is to have at least some basic networking knowledge if you plan to purchase this router.

One thing I will say though is that the cpu usage seems to be between 50-75% even on small loads. Currently have 1gig internet and have yet to max it out to see how it performs but after seeing high cpu usage at 100-200meg loads I question if it can handle full 1gig service. Otherwise it seems to be performing quite nicely for now. May upgrade to the ax11000 later.

The duma os is also really nice for monitoring the traffic on the network to figure out the optimal band width. The only small complaint is that even with the large range the router struggles with a small portion of the appt (due to thick walls) but the mesh extender should fix that. Overall satisfactory.

My home built PC appears to be happy as I boot up for some stress-releasing games. Have encountered no issues, don't expect to have any. We are on Spectrum so 1GB speed is what we pay for but we're luck if we get 500/200 /100 during the day while doing school. It's frustrating that the kids have such slow speed during the day they are unable to download school work.

Although that gave me the telephony connection that I needed, the new cable modem wasn't integrated with a router. As a result, I needed a router. The specs I was looking for were matched by the Nighthawk XR1000 Gaming Router that I bought from Best Buy as a Totaltech customer. I couldn't be more delighted with the performance I now have and the price I paid to get it.

The installer said that the signal would not travel through walls and into my another apartment two apartments down, and then they said it would not at travel across the driveway to another apartment. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Range Average Performance In terms of network performance the device performed on par and in some circumstances worse than my similarly specced ASUS router. I had varying issues with wired device connectivity that made it hard to make this a solid consideration. It may have been my unit and I’d be willing to test with another if this was a faulty unit. Wireless performance could not and would not surpass roughly <600 Mbps even when connected within range to a compatible WiFi 6 capable unit even over the 5Ghz band. 2.4 expectedly produced worse results. Software wise, the software experience is refined and simple to use. Most other router OS systems do not provide a robust mobile and web interface so this was much appreciated. My only discourse with this was I constantly had issues where the app would state router not found even when I was directly connected to the network on either 2.4 or 5Ghz bands. Eventually it would connect and function as expected. Without going into too much detail I think overall the product had a solid broadcast range when positioned properly and allowed a whole home connection without issues. Device integration across bands occasionally experienced higher latency than typically experienced before. The software experience is well integrated and easy to navigate but has as expected normal hiccups. I think the total package as a whole produces average results. It feels like it could be a solid contender but falls short where it matters the most.

Have 8 different devices that connect at different times and its completely random so devices can't even find the router. Can find the 5g but not 2.4 band. Or one device has no internet and have to restart the router. Then ever so often rebooting wipes the router information and you have to start over. Lot of issues for such an expensive router

Consoles are particularly threatened by DDOS attacks, and I’m no exception having been under attack using my Comcast issued router. Without hybrid VPN capability at the router level, my IP address is exposed. Your equipment is not compatible with leading VPN subscription services like Nord. Fix this Netgear, it’s a major gap in the market as Norton only makes products for PC Gamers, console gamers are exposed!

Signal strength is generally strong aswell. I unfortunately have the issue of needing to restart the router on occasion due to losing 5ghz connection (stops showing up on all my devices, so router problem) all together however, which can be frustrating.

Don't do it with the phone app. Connect it via ethernet cable to whatever device you feel comfortable with. I suffered the same problems others were having when reading their reviews. The one thing I discovered during setup was the Time Zone. It comes set to Pacific Time by default. Insure you set it for your specific Time Zone

It doesn’t miss a beat, its strong broadband field surrounds my entire home without any problems. I can do anything from streaming movies to playing video games no buffering or dead spots. The advantages of this is there is also a built in capability to see your actual real time ping to all of the servers from the game you are playing. You can choose to block the servers with high ping and allow the servers you want. You can also draw the areas where you would like you connect to, anywhere outside of this barrier it will automatically deny those connections. Another great built in feature is the “Ping Heatmap” that you can select many of the top popular games out and ping ALL server locations and your real time ping to them to help setup the servers that you want to connect to. This router also has all the normal Netgear router user interface, all in all this router is one of the top tier routers built for gamers on the market. The only draw back is the price, but if you are a serious gamer it’s worth the investment.

I game on PC it it works great. I have not used it on a console. Consoles do work differently as for how they connect to their platforms server then the games server.

Use of the router includes varied WiFi and hard wired devices. Mainly used with gaming on the Xbox Series X. Easy to follow instructions for setup. The best part of this purchase was the Duma OS 3.0. All the options and apps available improves on-line gaming capabilities resulting in higher level of gaming enjoyment. This 3.1 router was such as improvement over the 3.0

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buggy frimwares Q0S and UPnP are broken with the latest firmware as of right now. Congestion control, Bandwidth allocation and traffic prioritization doesn't work for upload. Bandwidth allocation for devices doesn't work unless attempt to update distribution multiple times. NETDUMA team have acknowledged the issues in the forums long time ago, since they are aware of the issues, I had decided to wait for a new firmware to release but they still haven't rolled out a new firmware update as of right now, i made a post on Netgear's forums, they said the upcoming firmware will fix those issues, it's been almost a year since XR1000 got it's last firmware update. I am maybe dumb for not extending my warranty when i bought it a year ago and not filling for a claim while I still had my hardware warranty then waiting for them to release a new firmware. They may or may not have fixed the issues with XR1000v2

Notably, it has issues with maintaining connectivity. Mine would continuously just drop connection over and over again with the only temporary fix being resetting the router and hoping I can play through the next match. If it was updated with more reliable hardware I’d say it’s a must have but until then I’d consider other devices

Some games I even pull host. The geo filter is amazing. I can specify which server I connect to for better lobbies and can completely disable certain servers with ping too high. Internet browsing response is worse than dial up. I have checked and rechecked the settings and all network settings are drawn from ISP and propagated. I keep getting random "no internet" on 5G connections. Also the user interface response time and saving of settings is abysmal, it is slow (wired or wireless. Overall the performance of this router is extremely disappointing. I don't know if it's defective or not but I need this device to support teleworking and its not meeting the expectations of >$300 dollar investment.

The Xr can't seem to let several apps stream movies/shows. Plug the old one back in, good to go. Yes, I tried to chat with tech "help" but after about 15 minutes one tech "professional" bailed out and another took over just to start over with the basic questions even though I was specific about Amazon Prime, Disney and other apps on my Roku not working. My old one has no issues. Yes I changed various settings and all have the same result. Anyone want to buy a very lightly used XR1000?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The XR1000 has potential I’m one to adopt the latest and greatest in technology and yes WiFi 6 is great for many reasons, including being able to support a maximum of 9.6Gbps and WPA3, but market adoption has been painfully slow. I mean sure, the latest iPhone supports WiFi 6 but gaming consoles like my Xbox don’t (neither will the next-gen Xbox) and yet their rival Sony with their upcoming PS5 will. So I am stuck with compromising because not everything will support the latest and greatest that 802.11ax has to offer. The XR1000 is a high-end gaming router for which, currently, only a few of my devices can take advantage of. My biggest complaints, however, are that the admin portal uses the unsecured HTTP protocol rather than the more secure HTTPS and that the previously named remote management feature, which I personally wouldn’t use, has been renamed to anywhere access. Honestly, it is generally a best practice to secure your router by limiting access because you don’t want to end up with a compromised route

I looked up more information on various forums and sites, and it seems like many people are having this issue. My ping would go up to 100 and I have no idea why. My in game ping is usually 10-20 and when I run a ping test through speedtest and through Duma it shows 20

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a let down! My XR700 died and I got this one because I was very happy with the XR700. This was a set backwards. It doesn't seem to have the same range. It also drops connections and the speed delivered to my devices is no match to what I had on the old router. I'm 24 hours into using it and I'm already feedup. I've been in IT over 3 decades so its not like I'm a newbee to this. I'm giving it 24 more hours of trouble shooting and if it doesn't improve. I'm sending it back.

I’ve been a gamer for as long as I can remember and competitive play has been no strange to me but when you live in house with so much bandwidth draining usage it really slowed me down. When I purchased the NightHawk XR1000 you could say It was game changing. There QoS service allowed me to control the bandwidth usage giving me that extra edge while my family are still able to use there devices with out any down side. I would recommend this router to any anyone either be a gamer or not.

It had been a while since I had upgraded, but wow I discovered what I was missing. I get consistently >600mb over wifi, which makes ps5 gaming feel much more instant, with the amount of downloads that have to happen to play anything.

The router OS is easy to use and offers tons of features for adjusting bandwidth to each device and geofiltering makes quick work of laggy gaming servers.

When I reconnected the old router, the Wi-Fi went right back to working. I tried to go back to this router and the Wi-Fi immediately stopped working again.

Was only getting 30 Mbs, after manually setting the correct channels for each band. I'm now getting 600-900 Mbs per device. If it was configured properly at start 5 stars. This new router seems to have a better DumaOS router dashboard, but I think the old router had more dependable internet connection. I have only used it for a few days, but will have to wait and see how it works in the long term. Keep those firmware patches coming!

Everything was nicely packaged inside and setting up was very easy. The app is so convenient and makes life so much easier. Setting up was definitely a breeze. I also love how the product looks, just a nice futuristic style to it. Connecting it to my cable modem was no problem at all, even have a Netgear Cm1000 modem that I purchased with the XR1000 and im very very pleased with both. This has increased my wifi speeds tremendously, use to have very laggy wifi when streaming movies or even when playing games it would be laggy. When switching over it changed everything. Everything runs super smooth in my house now and even my mom notices it. The features on the app are great but when accessing DUMAOS it blew my mind. There’s so much to do with this product with all its helpful features. Don’t want to get to deep in this review but im 100% 10/10 satisfied with the product. I recommend it.

Anyway, I mentioned this Router to my fiance and she got it for me for my birthday (as well as a new NETGEAR modem. My old one was no longer supported by Xfinity. and it came sooner than expected! Beautiful beast of a router for upgrading your WiFi network. Once my network was setup and going, I immediately noticed a huge difference on my Galaxy S10 phone (which DOES support WIFI 6!)! This Router is simply the greatest out there!

Going from 70-100 ping lobbies down to 40-60 ping just from hooking it up. The DumaOS is the best software I’ve seen to further enhance my gameplay making sure I don’t get stuck connecting to a server across the country. Best router I’ve owned and should stick around for many years to come!

I decided to go with the XR1000 Nighthawk Pro Gaming Router. So far so good. Pulled 630Mbps over the wifi from my iPhone 12pro. My wife is also happy, she can social media, surf the web and stream without any issues. The app makes it easy to navigate through the routers menus and speed test your internet. So far it has been great.

Biggest thing is you have to go to their website to get an software update before using the new router. After that it is pretty easy. Make sure you position the antennas in the proper position. They are labeled so you can see where they each go

With three gamers in our household, the dedicated wifi connections are a must have. Plus we all have phones, an iPad and laptops. It is definitely worth the price even though it is more expensive than others. I would not buy it if you use mainly landlines or do not need the wireless speed.

When I access the router settings on the website, it only allows me to do some things. The geo fence has not worked once and the “heat map” (I think that’s what it’s called hasn’t either. I’m a little upset with that.

The product constantly drops my wifi signal amid gameplay sessions and performance was average for a full fledged gaming router. The confit interface is very unresponsive and slow and there are major compatibility issues with my plume mesh wifi system. Overall not a good product and dumaOS is overrated

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I’m puzzled by all the positive reviews I bought this the 1st week of April and was excited with my purchase, I replaced a Linksys 32x gaming router with this one, and I assumed that it was an upgrade boy I was wrong. The Net Duma software is glitchy, fails to functions, and struggles to do the advertised functions. I figured I needed a firmware update and I believe it did a total of 3 but no improvement. I had the router reset itself to factory settings multiple times just for hitting the reboot option, devices lose connectivity and not connect for up to 24 hours later. All my cameras became unresponsive to view and ironically lags in matches. I hit up customer service via web and they wanted to do the basic troubleshooting usually done with people clueless with tech. Left me hanging for a few days while they “sent it over” to another department to resolve. Yea no pretty easy to jump in my car and buy a competitor. I’m sorry but check the Netduma forum and look at all the issues and people claiming its an expensive brick. Its pretty basic netgear sell a product that you plug in and works. I bought a Linksys comparable in value and guess what it works flawlessly. Defective Radio?May be doesn’t make up for the glitchy software.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s an improvement over the last one Easy enough to install and works well. Had an improvement in Gbps speeds. However, Providers make it very difficult to self install! In this case, Comcast. Yes, it works, but we’re getting no where near the download and upload speeds we pay for! Buying your own WiFi system is getting to be a lose/lose proposition! The equipment is getting more and more expensive and the service providers are making it more and more difficult to connect and get the speeds you’re paying for! Was getting about 90 Gbps download and 20 Gbps upload with previous equipment (Netgear CM500v Modem and Asus RT-AC68P (from 2013. With this new router, speeds have increased to 120-150 Gbps Upload (depending on time of day/traffic) and 30 Gbps Upload. Not the greatest considering the cost of almost $700 (including the Netgear Nighthawk XR1000 Router and CM2050V modem). According to our ISP (Xfinity) we should be getting 900 Gbps - That’s what we pay for, at least. Considering returning and just renting Xfinity’s equipment. Typically, modems with routers built in do k no it have the range needed.

Coming from the XR300 which was pulling about 150mbps download, the XR1000 managed to net me over 300mpbs LAN. Wifi was snappier with 5ghz range really being the star if the show. Speed tests were in the high 190s on an Iphone 12 Pro with a 300mbps plan. My computer, which was equipped with a wifi5 card, managed to pull 240ish one floor above the router, even past a steel beam. 2.4ghz band performance was just ok - pulled 85mbps from one floor above and about 15-20 feet away from the router. I think 5ghz performance is where this router really shines. Totally worth the upgrade it if you are paying sub-300.

Should be atleast 2.5 gig atleast. Sometimes the features with the router interface seem to be buggy as well. Sometimes certain things work well and other times features have issues. This router needs the 3.2 duma OS also. Some of the features could really help gamers that 3.2 comes with.

Very strong signal - covers 3700 sq ft home with no problem. 2.4 signal usable outdoors on good portion of a 1 acre lot - even through the brick walls of my home. Transitioning from the basic Xfinity all-in-one modem/router, to this beast of a machine has really opened up my eyes to how much control I can have in regards to my web traffic and gaming! Ranging from the built-in-browser default gateway configurations you can do on the fly, to Ping Heat maps, QoS control for every device connected to the router, to segmenting each device into their own domains is amazing to say the least! I highly recommend this router for any fellow gamer, or avid video streamer who wants to have more control over their devices' connections to services such as gaming, netflix, hulu, prime video, etc. It REALLY puts you in control of so much more than the basic cable boxes that ISP's provide. 9/10!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works but… Our Nighthawk has been good. A little difficult to get setup but has worked well until…there may have been a firmware up date…all the setting went back to factory. This too was a bit of a challenge. I know this wasn’t just mine because I had to get my mother’s settings back to the correct SSID and passwords as well. Working well again. I think this was a NetGear issue not the XR1000.

Latency is significantly lower than before while playing online multiplayer games. Would suggest this router to anyone who competes online.

I upgraded to the xr1000 and it was a pleasant. I like the the option and futures it has. Router does not come that very hot at all and been good since the 1st day. But it you won’t regret it!!
