Rated 5 out of 5 by from Weak Signal and didn’t work long We bought this as a replacement for our outdated version from AT&T that was several years old. The setup was easy but that has been our only positive experience. The range is limited compared to our older model and the signal strength is weaker also. The unit only lasted about 14 months before it crashed, now it will power up but shuts back down as soon as it connects to service. We replaced the battery but we are still having the same problem so now we’re on unit number three. We live in a rural area and this is our best option for WiFi or we would look for other options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't get your hopes up I really wanted this product to work. At first it worked great 10-20mbps download which is fine for what I need it for. The sad thing is every hour or so it disconnects from service and you have to restart it for it to connect again. It instantly connects once you reset it but that ruins any possibility of playing games or watching a video. You can't even do work that requires internet for more than 1 hour without it just disconnecting. "Mobile Broadband Disconnected" is what it will say and as soon as you reset it works fine. Completely unacceptable when a $50 throw away smart phone can hold a connection better than this. It's not the service either because it works fine for all phone hotspots and has never done this.

Primarily use this to to create a Wifi zone in my car for the kids to use their devices instead of connecting to my phones hotspot. Really a game changing solution for my requirement from a brand I have learnt to trust. My only complaint would be the SIM card tray, when you fit the micro SIM card in the provided tray and squeeze it through it kept popping out, I was able to get it in after 4 or 5 attempts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from straight forward lte hotspot my mom bought this, and she only used it for 2 months, then she cancelled her internet. i was using a mr1100 and since she paid over $200 for it when it first came out, i bought it off of her and used it. it's really nice, and it works well. i have been able to play Playstation Now and Stadia on it fairly well. i am saving up to buy a 5g hotspot down the road, just waiting for Price Drop

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Trip to Mexico We have property in Mexico and while it was not ideal to travel during a Pandemic, the last renter destroyed our property and we had to inspect the damage. While we have AT&T as our mobile carrier, we really needed a hot spot so that our laptops can stay connected. My brother graciously loaned the 797 to us and we charged it before flying into Guadalajara. Once in Guadalajara, we went to the TelCel store and bought a chip, installed it into the back of the 797 and followed the easy steps to get it working. Within less than 5 minutes the WiFi was up and we were able to log on without issues. The signal was strong and we really liked the the display screen on the 797 as it showed the signal strength and the number of devices connected. We used the 797 during our entire stay and it performed with awesomeness. While we are not planning any more trips at the moment, we will definitely borrow the 797 for any trips in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrible - get a better device I have own this device on cricket for over a year. At first it was nice. able to connect a few ipads and it worked ok. not great but ok. It gradually has gotten worse and worse. i have 3 or 4 bars but cant get a strong enough signal to run facetime and a game. Maybe it is just cricket but i have not had a problem when i hotspot off my phone with the same service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Well I wanted a portable hotspot for travel, and this fit the bill nicely. Setup was reasonably easy. I use Visible. The device automatically installed the Verizon apn, so I had to access the device's web interface and manually install Visible's apn. Speeds were acceptable and varied completely by quality of signal. up to 30mbps down at home, but only 5mbs at my office. Enough for me needs with either.

Of course it did not work in the mountains where no one has coverage. The rest of the way she was engaged and I was driving in peace or listening to YouTube videos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for travel yet not ideal for desktop Most devices easily connect via WiFi and fir this the hotspot is perfect. For desktop PC it’s more complicated. Tethering (via cable) works well but you’re limited to one pc. Some desktops connection with Wi-Fi is either much harder or impossible.
