The JBL Xtreme 2 features a bold design coupled with several other enhancements to further the success of the JBL Xtreme. Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s ok To be very honest I have really wanted to return it , I have Bose and Harman kardon Bluetooth speakers that have a much much better sound the extreme 2 is ok at lower type levels, I was buying this speaker for a gas powered golf cart and had high hopes for it and really should of bought the next size up not loud enough and not enough bass but don’t think I would want to invest even more money not knowing if it’s worth it, we are lake people, and for a bunch of people around it’s not the speaker for us hopefully this helps , it’s not a bad product at all

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Utterly Superb Functionality I bought this to use on a Jetski but boy this speaker is so versatile and the sound is so good it beats ANYTHING at the price - sensible carry straps, brilliant battery life, useful integration with another speaker for stereo sound or with up to 100 speakers for parties, I cannot recommend this product enough, link to two phones - and I am a reseller of a niche brand of speakers that just cannot compete with the JBL Extreme 2.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from maybe a bit over kill... i bought this a few wks ago for a portable sound source for the patio, garage, beach... and in that regard, its great. however, i feel i probably could have gone with a smaller less expensive model as the sound does not surpass weight/size of this one. Again, it serves its purpose and if you need a water proof speaker, i totally recommend but i feel that that feature detracts from the sound quality (high and mids suffer). Also, this isnt something you want to put in a suitcase or swing on your shoulder.

Things that were important to me when choosing a bluetooth speaker: - speakerphone which I can use for conference calls from home - audio quality -- I like a balance frequency response, I like bass as much as anyone but also listen to a lot of metal so mids and crisp highs are also important - battery life for camping I'm still evaluating the speakerphone but it seems to be of a good quality speaker/mic and good connectivity to my phone. Audio quality is decent, I'd say the mids are a bit recessed but that seems to be a common trait for bluetooth speakers. It's not surprising, many genres sound best with this frequency response including pop. Anyway, it still sounds good for any genre so I'm satisfied. Can't comment on battery life yet, I'll update if I find anything unexpected there. Of course build quality is always important and this thing seems solid, premium and well built. The sound is highly directional which is not really ideal, many other speakers claim to be 360 sound (not sure how true that is but this one only really sounds crisp if you're in front of it. In most cases that's fine but could be annoying if you're moving around a lot. On the other hand, it might sound better than those other ones when you are in front of it, not sure, if I buy another different speaker I'll update with an audio quality comparison.

The bass is great just wish it was louder. Unfortunately will be sending it back due to the high price and low volume.

I always know that JBL makes 1st class speakers, this speaker is a perfect example, I use my Microsoft 650 Windows Phone to play all my tunes, even out here in the Backwoods of N.E.Wyoming (no cell service That doesn't stop me from using this High Quality speaker, weather I'm at the far end of the ranch or soaking in my Whirlpool tub. I know I have my "Escape" with the tunes I keep

Tried contacting customer support but still haven’t received any reply. Would assume a $300 speaker would come with a way to charge it. It’s a good speaker though never had an issue other than this with any of their speakers.

I ended up returning it and getting the Boombox 2 instead since the volume on that is much louder. Highly recommend this speaker for smaller gatherings and back ground music. It didn’t have the best out door volume.

If my phone got more than 3 ft away, BT quit. If I walked between speaker and phone, BT cut out. I have a Flip 4 as well, and this one blows sound out of the water! I could not link them because of BT issues, but Im betting it will be super cool when I can! Cust. Service was exceptional when I called. Walked me thru some basic trouble shooting, when that did not fix it, she sent me a return label. On to a replacement. First time I have had a refurb fail.

It loud and clarity of the mids and high are great and clear with no distortion from the bass even at maxed out volume. The exterior is solid and strong and good looking cosmetics and the best part it waterproof and can float and won’t sink. And the bonus is the carrying strap with a built bottle opener. Good job to JBL love my purchase

It's done amazing and I have had no issues with it. It's exactly the product I would expect from JBL. Compared to the original xtreme it's sounds a lot better and a lot of the battery issues have been fixed on it.

We had a house fire and we lost everything but the firemen carried this out after getting the fire under control they did a sweep. They carried out the speaker and it was in perfect condition no burns melted parts no nothing even the strap was untouched. The speaker worked perfectly fine. Worked like a charm I have pictures of all the damage and nothing was saved at all nothing not even the military coins that were earned in service but his speaker was saved.

Having a built in strap and it being waterproof if awesome for what I use it for, I use it everyday bumping tracks wherever I go, and I look good doing it too, thanks to this speaker! It’s worth it if it’s in your budget! JBL don’t miss when it comes to speakers!

Great sound - the total package! But, it just stopped working after almost 2 years of owning it. It won't turn on at all. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall good but have a couple complaints 1) EQ Sound: A: lacking highs. B: volume scaling of bass and mids is pretty rough. The bass is too loud for any volume <50% (using my iPhone bluetooth, no EQ set). I have to turn my "music app" EQ to "bass reducer" if I want the music to sound level (I usually don't go over 40% volume). However, the mids scale a ton more as the volume is increased. It is especially noticeable over 50%. I believe ~65% volume makes the bass and mids sound level (compared to my other audio equipment). Anything over that will make the mids dominate. C: the JBL app can't control an EQ for this speaker as far as I know. D: the mids are slightly directional, so they are a little quieter when the front of the speaker is facing away from you. 2) Battery: seems to last quite a while for how I use it. I haven't tried to do any "testing" of my own, though. 3) I have only ever opened the back cover panel one time, and I never want to do it again. IDK if it gets easier over time, but I had to use a big flat head screw driver to pry the cover open. It felt like I was going to break something for sure. I know it has to seal to be water-proof, but DANG! 4) Frequency response: as I stated above, the highs seem to be lacking. I didn't try a high frequency sweep, though. The bass is good down to ~38Hz. After that it nose-dives hard. That's okay - I just want people to know that detail. 5) The strap that comes with it is sturdy. 6) I wouldn't suggest carrying it around for extended periods because of the weight. That's part of the price you pay for bigger speakers and battery, though.

Took it home plyed off the barnacles, pressed the on button and connected to my phone straight away. 10/10 would buy the new one when this one eventually dies.

After two years of shear enjoyment from this excellent bit of kit I thought I should share just how good this bluetooth speaker really is... I’m not easily pleased, more often than not, i am not a happy man. However, every time I listen to music via the JBL Xtreme 2 I get a warm feeling inside. The sound is just so full of warmth and so clear that I can’t help feeling glad that I made this purchase. And after two solid days of music (and forgetting to recharge it overnight) I am further impressed by the excellent battery life ... i have nothing but praise for this great bit of kit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Won't power up I bought mine in April/May of 2019 and after a year and a half it won't power up unless it's plugged in. I rarely use the speaker outside of my home and it's never been dropped. Customer svc said they can't do anything and was disconnected while she was "looking" for a nearby service center. No call back. I probably wouldn't pay to get it fixed and will most likely purchase a different brand next time. I also own JBL headphones.

I bought the original version of the Xtreme and it lasted less than 2 years before the speaker began randomly turning off and on over and over again after about 25 minutes of playing music, rendering the speaker useless. I researched this issue and found it was a known, regularly occurring issue that had happened to multiple JBL customers. I contacted Harman to see if they could help out a long-time customer with a replacement and they refused because I was past the 1 year warranty period. In short, JBL does not stand behind their products, even for known defective products. I do not recommend buying JBL products as they will leave you hanging out to dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from “Waterproof” Failure i’ve had the jbl xtreme 2 for a while now and it just recently went into the pool for maybe 5 seconds before i took it out and it started making a clicking sound and i put it inside to dry and got all the water out and now it will not turn on. i have tried all of the trouble shooting for it and leaving it on the charger and nothing happens. i was very pleased with this speaker until last night, not that happy with this brand right now.

I like that it’s waterproof and has a handle for carrying.

It gets loud enough for what i need and the bass is really powerful. Also the desing is good and the camo is so cool! I totally recomend it! 11 our of 10!! It can easily destroy any other speakers when comparing.

I like this speaker it's a huge step up from a flip 4. I wanted to black version but I somehow got the blue one. I still like it. I think it looks better than black. In my opinion.

I was looking for something small to replace a pretty large old Sony boom box that was taking up too much space in my boat. I decided to try the Extreme 2 since I was looking for a little better sound than the Charge 4 but didn't want the bulk of the Boombox. Sounds good outside but really shines in an enclosed space. Perfect for a cruiser or yacht.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrible Battery Life-Buyer Beware I purchased this speaker less than 2 years ago and the battery is now junk so the speaker is worthless. We used this primarily in our SXS which it was great for, but since it doesn’t charge, now we no longer have a speaker for our SXS rides. The batteries are not “user replaceable” so they want you to pay to send your speaker for service for the price of a battery and service charge you are better off just purchasing a different brand of speaker that will last more than 2 years. $250+tax is pretty expensive for a disposable speaker after less than 2 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's OK. I noticed that when compared to the JBL GO, the sound is not nearly as "bright". The highs sound muffled which I suspect is a result of the waterproofing design. Waterproofing's good for those who swim with their speakers, however JBL should offer a NON-waterproof unit for those of us who don't. I'd much rather have better sounding highs. The base is OK for a speaker of it's size but again, if you like rounded sounding music, this unit misses the mark. Is it a problem specific to MY unit or is it the same for all? Who knows.

Do I need to update the software? Or is my 350$ speaker toast?

Mega sound, extremely long battery life, waterproof, and the strap is a life saver by allowing you to play your music while doing hikes, beach days, or walking the strip in Vegas. Only issue I’ve had is related to the control buttons. Hubby mashed them too hard on my last one which is why I had to buy a new one.

I have an iphone 11 pro so it isnt that my phone doesnt have the capabilities.

I have only had this speaker for a year and I wish they would make it to keep the charge. I have to keep it plugged in to play music. Kind of a BIG bummer. I will have to purchase another brand to take on trips to the beach.

My only issue is that it doesn't get quite as loud as I would like. For being as big as it is I would expect it to get louder than it does. I got it on sale for $150 so the value was good for me, but I wouldn't say its worth the $349 price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sound. Stylish design. I am not a sound engineer but i can appreciate a great sounding speaker. The Xtreme 2 is all that and much more. The highs, mid-range and especially the bass are impressive given the size. while it will not fill your entire backyard with sound, (although JBL makes products that will the Xtreme 2 will rock your world in an average room, campsite,BBQ, boat or similar setting. Waterproof feature is awesome and my unit has already been tested and passed with an A+++ rating having been fully submerged. 15 hrs of play time is very nice too. could not be happier with this speaker!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect beach buddy got this last year at a reasonable price of £200. what can i say, this speaker is great! warm deep bass with a detailed sound signature. great design, (some Bluetooth speakers look very tacky) get around 7 to 8 hrs of playback at 2 thirds volume playing bass heavy music, (bass being the biggest power drain) any higher than 2 thirds volume and the bass does start to fall away but still plenty loud enough. the carry strap is great, bottle opener could been seen as a gimmick but useful i suppose. i use it to loop back to the opposite clip to create a shorter hand carry strap if not carrying over my shoulder.

Bose ehh they’re boring to look at. ION it’s so unbalanced bass trashes the mids and distorts. I would recommend the extreme 2 over the extreme 3, you can’t answer your phone because there’s no mic.

Now it must remain plugged in at all times. It was quoted at $200 for parts and labor to repair it; basically the price of what I paid for it! It’s an older model but I bought it because of the backwards compatibility to my Flip4. Why they changed the compatibility technology became evident the first time I paired them. It gets a lot of interference and cuts out a lot if there is a lot of phone activity around the speakers. Seems like interference. Anyway it’s a great idea in theory and sounds pretty good when it works but it’s not perfect by any means. The sound is also not commensurate with the increase in size. My Flip4 sounds almost as good just not quite as loud. But the depth of sound and bass on the Xtreme2 doesn’t also increase with the volume so it’s just louder not better. I would return if I paid full price but I got a good deal so I will keep it.

I called JBL customer service and they were not help. They just said it was probably the battery and would supply me with a 25% off coupon for next purchase. You really think I’m going to want to purchase this type of product when it’s not even that old 2 years and it already has gone out. Replace the product! It’s your faulty battery.

I was going to get the Bose out of habit, but couldn't justify after listening to them side by side. It is a bit heavier than expected, so the strap I initially wasn't going to use comes in handy. I ended up ordering straight from JBL, and it did not include a manual in English, I would have loved to absorb details. All in all, a prized and celebrated possession!

The JBL Xtreme 2 is the best bluetooth speaker I've ever owned. Volume at halfway is enough to fill a large-sized room with sound, and crisp enough to still make out all the sounds on another level of my house (for example, having it play in my second floor bedroom and still hear it loud and clear in my first floor kitchen). Medium volume on this thing is equivalent to full volume on my Flip 5. Full volume makes it slightly unbearable to hear when you're in the same room with it, but that'll make it great for parties and outdoor gatherings. ;) Love the clip-on carrying strap and waterproof features. It's got some weight to it, so you won't ever have to worry about it rolling away on you. It also handles a variety of music genres (especially rock/metal) much better than my Flip 5 and Go 2, and is still better than my Charge 4. The bass radiators are INSANE and caused my BED to vibrate on 50% volume when I had it on the floor of my room. JBL definitely did everything right with this bad boy! RECOMMENDATION XTREMELY HIGH!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 times The speaker works fine, but the Bluetooth cuts out intermittently and randomly. It sounds like a cd skipping, sometimes once a day, sometimes 4 times a song. Does not fix itself after disconnecting and reconnecting Bluetooth, turning on/off, or even forgetting the device completely, all of which shouldn’t be a issue in the first place. This is the third jbl speaker I’ve had that’s malfunctioned on me (charge 3 blown speaker, charge 4 replacement turned off randomly after a year of use) I don’t know why I tried again and I will tell everyone I know to invest their money elsewhere when purchasing a Bluetooth speaker.

I started having trouble turning on the unit when fully charged about a month ago (unit is only 3 months old at the time. I have to press the power button many times in rapid succession for it to turn on. But it turns on just fine while plugged it. I reported this to support and their response was for me to charge the unit after I specifically explained that the unit was fully charged. Very dissatisfied.

Honestly, I defected thinking I'd try something different, I Iike to try new and different - and was let down. I went to return it and they were out of my 'plan B' pick, when the sales folks pointed out an amazing closeout deal on the Extreme 2. I thought, that's what I get for defecting, I was meant to own another JBL. I gotta say I'm blown away. Rather than go into depth, I will say I'm an audiophile and am picky. JBL has earned a customer for life with this one!!

I was in dreaming of buying the JBL extreme 2 many days back and got an opportunity to buy one fine day. The very next week of receiving JBL extreme, the protection flip cover on the JBL has broken. I lost the return window period as it was able to return only within 7 days from the purchase so I was unable to get it replaced. Hence reached local service center in Chennai and explained the problem. They are very NICE and mentioned that it is the COMMON problem across all JBL products and asked me to continue to use it. I was surprised, without this protection cover, how it will survive when it is being claimed as water proof. The service center people never accepted to take this for service and I don't know how it will be used continuously for long run. Suggestions????

I didn’t mind upgrading to their latest offerings.....until now. I bought the Extreme 2 after my Extreme stopped holding a charge. This has happened with all my previous JBL wireless speakers,the batteries go for 2-3 yrs and then go bad. Because of that I’ve always had to get an extended warranty to protect myself,at least for the 2 yr period. I’m disappointed in the Extreme 2,specifically with how loud it get,my Extreme was louder! Like I said if they continue to improve their speakers I’m all in but the Extreme 2 let me down big time. I don’t even want to take a chance buying a 3 when it’s available,I’ve decided to buy a Sony XB43 instead. So long JBL it was real,but you really need to pay attention to what most audiophiles want in this category...the ability to play music LOUD,so yes more watts and a speaker design to handle it,BASS,as much as you can deliver without it distorting.

So I paid full price on this $350... a LOT of money!) and ordered it from JBL. It's... nice. It has a good sound. I thought (because I could never actually find it anywhere to look at it) it would be a bit larger. Also, I thought that it would be a bit more powerful than it is. For what it is, it's great. For the price, I sort of expected a bit more. We have a couple of Bose bluetooth systems that we love. But, they're a little older so we wanted to upgrade. And this IS a bit of an upgrade... at least in volume. Would I buy this again? If it was $75-$100 cheaper maybe. I wouldn't pay $350 again for this speaker. It's got a decent sound but it's just too pricey...

Now I just have a dead speaker and a dead relationship with JBL after my Charge 3 suddenly died on me in similarly dubious circumstances.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sounds Great but, the firmware is hot garbage I've had this thing for 6 months or so. Got it for work as I really needed something loud. It sounds great and is crazy loud especially for it's size. The issue is that I just brought it home and decided to hook it up to my PC to use over my monitor speakers. The problem is that the sound kept on cutting out for a half second or longer. Couldn't figure it out and it was driving me crazy. Thought for sure it was an audio driver issue on my PC and I spent the past 4 hours trouble shooting my PC. It wasn't the PC. As I'm literally giving up I decide to check and see if there's a known compatibility issue or something weird with this speaker and that's when I find a thread someone posted. Apparently someone at JBL decided in their infinite wisdom that you can't just turn the device way up and control the volume from the input side (the obviously easy choice on a PC). Nope, running a low input signal will basically make your 300$ speaker sleepy. Constantly nodding off and cutting out the sound while it seemingly starts to sleep and then wakes back up.I didn't even believe it, it sounded so unlikely but I turned the speaker way down and cranked the input and it worked without a hitch. It's an irritating oversight/blunder that had me checking my motherboard with a multimeter. A firmware update would be nice here. Take sleep off of it entirely for all I care. I'd rather something that works how I want it to than a way too aggressive sleep timer. The fact that it even sleeps when it's plugged in is either lazy or pointless. I like this thing a lot other than that. At work on a high volume, I never even knew it had this issue. At the very least think through how your devices sleep in the future but, I'd appreciate a downloadable update. The JBL phone app is junk as well unless you want to sync a few devices or rename one. Why is Comfort a category for a bluetooth speaker?

The built quality follows JBS high standards and the volume is higher than I will ever need inside any room. I bought the refurbished version so the value/money was really good. My only comment is that this speaker is not very portable, or not as much as the Charge and the Flip. If you plan on walking around with it I would recommend getting the Charge instead, which has a bit less power but less than half of the size and weight.

I like BIG music and the JBL Xtreme 2 can handle it. I want to save up and get another so I can link them for true stereo sound in my livingroom. A bit pricey but totally worth it! There are others out there more expensive but don't sound this good as JBL Xtreme 2. It's portable, long battery life, stylish, waterproof, fantastic sound... this speaker is great!

Once the speaker is unplugged from the ac adapter the speaker has a reduced volume. I feel that JBL should inform people within the specifications that their is two different volumes whether plugged in or running on battery. Is their anyway to fix thats via firmware update? Other than that the speaker has great sound!

Also, need to be able to charge via USB port. We had to bring our converter to the cabin for a weekend of sound in order to recharge it. It’s awesome that it lasts over 15 hours, but it still needs recharging for a weekend in the wilderness, and aUSB charge capability would be icing on this cake.

I am quality engineering managment professional in U.S. Defense Industry. Technical Writing Brief: I believe the JBL Instruction Manual is too brief with just a few pictures with buttons without any words, and it lacks specifc written guidance and need to be more prescriptive to address as problem solving solutions like when pairing is not functional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Underwhelming I have several different JBL Speakers, a clip a couple Flip 5's and the Xtreme 2. They all sound good. The Xtreme 2 definitely has the fullest sound, but it is not "Xtreme" at all. It is about the same loudness as the Flip 5. I bought it specifically for the ability to be loud, for my workshop. It fills with better sound, but in my opinion is not worth the money, when compared to the Flip 5 or other similar Braven models...which are louder and have better sound. Also, if you are looking to link the speakers, the JBL speakers do a terrible job of that.

Because I have $500 Yamaha Studio monitors and this thing even brings out things I didnt notice on either my Beyerdynamics DT990 Monitors OR the Yamahas! And both of those are industry standard pieces of studio equipment lol! But the reason I actually bought the JBL Xtreme 2 was because my car got stolen recently and I fortunately was able to get it back however when I got it back the amps were missing for the trunk so for the past couple months I haven't had any music in the car at all whatsoever .. I had some store credit leftover at Guitar Center and I was in the area near a Guitar Center saws like hey you know what I knew that they sell those JBL speakers there so I was like hey I'm going to go in and I'm going to buy a speaker and see how that works it for now in the car until I'm able to put together a little bit of money to reasonably afford replacement amps for the trunk so I can get my cars sound system going again.. And I'm so serious when I say that this bad boy sitting in the passenger seat.. With the volume at roughly 50 - 60 percent it might be as loud if not even be LOUDER than the 6.5" components speakers that were running in my car prior to having my amps stolen.. The sound is so clear and crisp and honestly.. I was planning on returning it once I get new amps however it's only been one day since I got it and I'm already placing an order for a second one! Just for no reason! Just because I want 2!! This thing is so cool and the shoulder strap makes it so much cooler!

Connects easily to bluetooth (from my I-Pad or mobile phone). Instruction guide is clear. Very easy to use. I listen to streaming music and podcasts. The unit is not to big and I have it on the shelf. Of course, I could take this on trips as well if I want. Sound is fantastic. I bought this on-sale direct from JBL. If I can find the same sale price again I may get another unit (you can set-up stereo sound with 2 units). Overall very satisfied with purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice speaker--wish they were built better I bought this speaker because of its durability.. well, I had the first one for about a month or two before it became totally unresponsive. JBL was great in letting me ship it back and got a new one or they fixed it or whatever. Been happy with it. Really nice speaker. I use it in the car (my speakers are shot anyways and this way I get to listen to what I want.) Or around the house... no abuse or misuse.. I don't recall dates but I could find receipts if needed but it's not important. I'd say it's been about a year maybe a little over of the speaker going strong, but now the power button is acting up. I have to click it multiple times to get it to turn on. How long before it stops working all together? For a 350$ speaker that takes 0 abuse it's pretty sad. Im not "hip" I'm knowing brands etc but just wanted to leave a review for anybody considering a JBL speaker to probably look elsewhere. Pretty wild how poorly made these things are. When it works, it works really well. And it's nice looking.. That's the only reason it got 2 stars. But if I were you, I would shop a different brand. I will be once this one quits on me once and for all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Speaker I've had my Extreme 2 for about 1 year now and still very satisfied! Sound is crisp, clear and with ample bass. This speaker is very durable too. I've banged it around and it was accidentally left in the rain but still sounds as good as the day purchased. Battery is legit! Took it out on the lake for about 10 hours of full blast and it still had charge at the end of the day. If there is 1 negative it's that the speaker can sometimes not be loud enough in large areas. But problem solved, i just recently bought another one! Now there's plenty of volume and it's so easy to connect them both! This is by far the best speaker I've experienced within the same price point!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lasted a whole 1.5 years!!! I bought the JBL Xtreme 2 in April 2020. As of August 1, 2021, the speaker stopped working whenever I unplugged it. I submitted a claim with Harman Audio (initially hoping to for support to fix it myself), and was told that this speaker only has a 1-year warranty. That is unacceptable for a speaker that cost almost $300! At the very least, they could have given me some advice on how to fix the problem! Very disappointing. Make sure to do you research because I'm sure there are WAY BETTER portable speakers out there for the same (or cheaper) price tag.

I decided to look for another speaker to take with me on camping trip, etc. I saw the extreme 2 on sale for about 70% off and couldn’t pass it up. The sound is equal to the Bose but where it’s lacking is the lack of USB charging and software. Which is the option when camping off the grid. Also With the Bose I can connect it to my home network and play streaming services without connecting to Bluetooth. Fix those 2 things and it’s a 5 star product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best in Class Xtreme Performance I’ve been an audio enthusiast since the early 90’s and have listened to countless audio related configurations over the years with a critical ear, and when comparing every major brand within the same price range, the Xtreme 2 outclasses everything in terms of functionality, like being highly portable, waterproof with a high battery life, along with impressive captivating sound quality. The same can be said about its predecessor, the first Xtreme, as well as the Charge 3 and previous generations. Few flaws are noted, but should be mentioned to avoid any unexpected disappointments. Number 1 is it is not backwards compatible using the Connect feature for multiple speaker pairings. Anything not designated Connect+ will not pair together. Connect & Connect+ has been renamed PartyBoost on next generation JBL Bluetooth devices. Number two is not really a flaw in my opinion, but has been a complaint in other reviews. AC mode has higher dynamic impact than battery mode. In other words, using it simply on battery power, it has less “umph” than being plugged in. It is a necessary evil to balance sound output with battery life, but not the deal breaker some have wrote about. My boyfriend wanted something louder to play in the backyard while we eat and this size was bigger and the sound quality was great to fill up the backyard or play in our basement. All around a great choice.

In the shower, in the car, in the kitchen, anywhere. It's properly tough and can take more than the accidental knock. If you can afford it and want something that's good and loud, good sound quality, deep bass, rugged, great battery life that's portable too then I can't recommend this more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! (except no USB-C charging...) The Xtreme2 has Amazing sound, I'm very satisfied with that. But why, in 2020, does it use a LINE LUMP + CUSTOM PLUG charger? Seriously, JBL. Make the jump to USB-C already. Please? Power supplies are the kind of things that get lost on road trips. So I'm one "oops" away from having an expensive red doorstop because I left my custom JBL charger behind in the hotel room. I love the smaller JBL Clips, and they charge great with my cellphone charger. Please step up to USB-C for the larger gear. Apple can run a 96 watt charger (search on part# "MX0J2AM/A". Just sayin. For extra credit: "AUDIO over usb-c" would be a treat; I've used the Extreme2 for videos on my laptop, and the tiny lag from bluetooth can be *super* annoying on movies. For simple music it works great, but lip-syc delay is a huge pain.

I emailed customer service, providing my order confirmation, but never received a response. The sound was great, but the battery is a huge flaw. Read the other reviews here and on Amazon. There was no detailed explanation that "connect" and "connect +" are not compatible when I made the purchase. I listen to music all day every day and this incredible speaker did not disappoint me 11-12 hours of playtime (85% volume)the strap makes it easy to carry everywhere campgrounds, pools, lakes and barbecue hang outs. Great sound loud and clear. Great resistant material. Unfortunately I had battery issues right after warranty expired and I believe a $250+speaker should last longer than that. Only way to charge it is to carry the power adapter. Also can’t connect to Mac products and the JBL portable app is useless.

I've taken it in extreme conditions for extended periods of time and it does fine. It has a good volume for yard work and general outdoor parties. The bass is decent, and the mids and treble are well balanced.

Oh yeah, it’s also not as loud as I expected. For indoor usage it’s good but for pool party or something... just forget about it. I used it once at pool party (14 persons) and I was asked several times to increase the volume when speaker was already at 100%. Would I recommend it? For indoor usage yes.

I bought this recently and i'm very happy that i did, great sound quality, great bass too, looks really great, big plus is that it very portable, also its very good that its waterproof, very handy for pool parties and the beach, also it once started rianing while i was using it so the the fact that it was waterproof helped a lot there too.Also its very very durable, this was very good because i droped it lots of times but it still plays perfectly.The battery is awesome lasts for a looong time without having to recharge it.Definitely a big upgrade the regular Xtreme. Overall a very good speaker would DEIFINITELY recomend to anyone.

Have contacted twice now so I can be sent a replacement and I have yet to hear back other than a generic email saying I've asked about their product, with FAQs and they are closing my case. Shame as the speaker was really good. I now have to purchase another and have lost £280 as that was the price when I purchased the original dodgy battery one.

Its easy to carry, I thought I would like the bigger one, but the sound not too much different, jus a little. I thought the strap would be cool, but not carrying around the house, (bedroom to shower) I made my own smaller strap, and I like the color green. Its a speaker at the end of the day. Jbl extreme 2 has obviously better sound performance, is more loud and is ideal for bicycling because of the magic strap. Very convenient to transfer anywhere on your neck with the strap. I believe it is the best on the market at this category and beyond. Definitely a gadget that anybody would have, highly recommended. I gonna buy also Jbl boombox for much pleasure.

I finally updated the firmware hoping this would fixed it, but all it did was take away bass and actually it stutters more now. I can’t listen to anything and it’s really worthless now. $250 wasted!!! DO NOT install firmware update. I’ve tried hard/factory resetting and that didn’t help in anyway. I wish I returned it soon after purchasing but now it’s too late. JBL, feel free to drop me a line to provide any assistance.

I had to ask a friend to attempt to charge my speaker thinking that my charger was no longer working. After checking my charger and speaker neither worked. I do believe I received a bad batch and will be returning both my charger as well speaker for hopefully better ones. Love JBL products so I’m still willing to give another try.

And the power button won't work and it will turn on eventually after clicking the power button multiple times sometimes up to 50 clicks before if finally powers on. I also have a friend that has had his for 2 years and his battery is shot and it won't hold a charge. The sound quality is by far the best out there, but the build and electronics part of it is sub par. My options are to replace it (which it now cost $100 more than when I bought it) or to have a repair service fix it for the cost of a new one. Really wish it'd last longer than 13 months.

I have had the Xtreme 1 for over a year and it is so amazing i use it everyday! my wedding is coming up next weekend so i went and got the xtreme 2 hoping i could pair them and have one speaker outside and one inside but they dont pair together. why would a company like JBL (HC make speakers that are not compatible, especially speakers with the same name? i cant find a JBL xtreme 1 to buy so i am stuck with 2 speakers that dont connect, and no music for outside at my wedding :(. Sound Quality is great like always, Build Quality is great like always also with the wireless speakers. if you have 2 Xtreme 2's or this is your first purchase it will be great, but do not get it thinking it will pair with older models because it wont.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its almost perfect! I purchased my xtreme 2 months after searching for the best available outdoor portable BT speaker. After watching youtube reviews i made up my mind to purchase it. It looks nice, the case is strong and durable. The sound is clear my only problem which is the biggest dissapointment is the max volume. The speaker just dont sound loud at all. I looked on the web and youtube and found that if i update to the new firmware it would increase volume which i did not think so. It did however sound really nice and clean just not as loud as i expected.

Looks like you have to get the more expensive and less portable boombox if you want the volume and base now. On the positive side, the build quality is excellent and it does have good clarity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Absolutely Amazing Speaker I've owned a JBL Xtreme 2 for almost a year and I have loved this speaker ever since. Pretty much everything about the speaker is great. The sound quality is amazing and has the ability to output a shocking amount of bass. The build quality, waterproofing, and the strap with the bottle opener are excellent. The battery life is somewhere between 15 and 20 hours and I've gone weeks off 1 charge. Outdoors the sound quality is great and remains fairly loud within 30 feet of it. During quarantine, I have used the speaker often as a TV speaker for my LG TV through bluetooth which works very well. After a year of use it works perfectly, I definitely recommend this product.

I just wish when JBL advertised UPS 2nd day air delivery they meant it. I wanted it for a family pool party over Memorial Day weekend 2020. Didn't receive it in the time frame advertised, so had to buy it someplace else. Oh well JBL.

It has good sound , good volume but it hasn't big bass and in max volume the sound is distorsing for the cost of this speaker!! It is waterproof that it is a good feature but this speaker isn't so durable as the company says!! I can recommend it but it has very big cost for what this speaker offering you!.....

Battery lasts all day and charges quickly. I did get it for a great price at 150 plus tax on prime day. Not sure I would pay the original 350 price.

I compared the JBL Xtreme 2 with my Bose Revolve and though the Bose has a little more bass, the JBL beats it out with the clarity when at full volume. The highs and midrange are great and the bass is not over powering and just right for Classic Rock which I mainly listen to. I got the JBL because my wife likes the compactness of the Bose so she has it now and I got this JBL! It is all I ever needed in a portable speaker and is great for the outdoors as I spend a lot of time grilling steaks on the weekend and having some beer, rain or shine! I also use it when I work at the bowling alley, it has enough sound to project throughout a 30 lane bowling alley, and won't get drowned out by the sound of the bowlers! I found that very amazing for this compact speaker system! I am very happy with this choice and recommend it to anyone wanting a portable Bluetooth speaker system!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good speaker! I bought my Extreme 2 on 5/13/2019 and after having it for about 2 month now, I can recommend this product. It’s good enough to be taken to the beach and jam in the water (water proof phone needed) great for the pool. Great battery life, I played mine for about 10 hours at 85% to 100% volume and the battery at the end was still about 35%. I do wish it was I little louder because in open spaces is needed, but in comparison to another speaker I own the Sonos One the Extreme 2 it’s just as load. I also wish I could be charge with a USB C changer to make charging easier on the go (maybe the upcoming model). I Bought another Extreme 2 for my mother and when pair to mine using the JBL connect app is a game changer, you can easily have a beach or pool party. I definitely recommend Spending the extra dollars for the Extreme 2. My brother has a JBL Flip 4 (great for the size) and a JBL Charge 4 (good)

I bought the refurbished JBL Xtreme 2 and hang it on my boat. The battery lasts all day and it's waterproof! Now I have a speaker I can take elsewhere, for way less than the dedicated audio system in a boat.

The output charger and carrying strap make this larger speaker still great for portability. Will continue to buy JBL.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound, perfect for camping We bought this to use in our van and camping. The sound is so much better than the vehicle's speakers. Plenty loud, clear sound with great base. We have purchased an 12 volt inverter so that we can charge the unit while driving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get the flip 5. its where its at So for such a size diffrence between it and the smallest tube, the flip.. there doesnt seem to be that much of a sound diffrence . It seems to me that starting with the flip the sound is excelent and that you would think the extreme would be exponentially louder . But truth is. I can hardly tell.. i should either stick with my flip 5 or just go ahead and get the party box.. my friend has the pb 100 and its amazing...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not as loud as in the store! I was looking for a speaker to fill the room with my music. In store, I felt the music in my chest when it played not even at full volume. This speaker does not have the bass or volume. Thinking about returning. It’s a lot of money to pay and not get a room full of sound.

The battery stops charging..So now I got to return it again. Very disappointed in this product. Sounds great. but the battery is garbage. Stay away. The speaker will only give you nothing but aggravation. Not worth the dough !!!! Find a different alternative

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jbl support could care less I have purchased several different speakers jbl puts out and yes the sound quality is one of the best out there if not the best this past year I purchased two jbl extreme speakers the second one I purchased brand new because I liked the first one so much about three weeks into have the speaker it sounded like something came loose inside the speaker so I opened it up to find that the magnets on the smaller tweeter speaker had fallen off I tried to contact jbl and was told there was nothing they could do. Let me tell you I have well ove $1000 in jbl products and love the sound quality the produce but these speakers are not cheap and to see how they back the product they create really upsets me I was offered 30% off a new speaker but personally I would rather spend $60-$100 dollars on a decent speaker now because on the off chance something happens they are much cheaper to replace I was basically told by jbl that my speaker was now a $200 paper weight.

The sound quality is amazing, the ruggedness it promises is yet but to tested but I don't have many doubts. Etsy has some nice accessories like 3D printed speaker guards which makes me feel better about tossing it in a bag /luggage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bluetooth speaker I’ve ever used I’ve used this speaker for a little over a year and it still sounds as good as the day I bought it. Sound quality is insane!!! Bass really hits hard!!! Can play music on max volume without crackling or popping like some cheaper options I’ve tried. The price may seem high, but this is 100% without a doubt the best speaker I have ever used. Best option for all genres of music. Definitely worth the price tag. This speaker is the king of longevity already beating out the other options I’ve tried over the same period.

Im not extremely satisfied with the purchase, wish I would've went in the store and listened before purchasing. Nice speaker just not for the big sound i was looking for to host my gatherings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great futures, great sound. Low parts quality. I bought JBL Xtreme speaker first time 19 months ago. I very like it. Perfect sound and design. Unfortunately it last only 11 months. JBL replaced the speaker for free ,and sent me a new one. Unfortunately a new one also didn't last long. All of them has exactly same issue . Power button stop working after a 10 months. Very good speaker, but for 11 months $300 it is a lot.
