Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound for the price! I'm giving these four stars because I also own a pair of JBL 305p MkII monitors. The sound quality of these is excellent, but the MkII's is clearly better. That said, given the size of the 104s and the various methods of connectivity these monitors offer, they are well worth the price of admission. I needed a slightly smaller set of monitors for a new desk setup, and these fit the bill perfectly without sacrificing (too much) sound quality. What's missing, sound-wise, with these? The range isn't quite as robust. Basses aren't quite as deep; highs aren't quite as vibrant, but mid-range (to my ear) is excellent. If you can afford the MkIIs and have the space, go for those, but you will not be sacrificing much by going with the 104s. They are really excellent speakers overall. The other reason for four stars, however, is that these speakers have a built-in feature that you apparently cannot disable, and that is that they will go into low-power mode if they don't detect a certain line voltage. I've found this feature to be *really* annoying. Sometimes, I have music on while I'm working, and I want it at a low volume. However, the speakers are not detecting enough voltage and are dropping into sleep mode. It's not a huge deal, as I can turn the volume up slightly; it's just a matter of figuring out where the magic line is when I want background music on while I'm working without blowing my ears off at the same time. In future version of these, I'd recommend that the minimum voltage is dropped (I think it's currently 3.something volts) or (even better) provide a way to enable/disable the feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not really a sweet spot The sound quality of these speakers is incredible, but they suffer from trying to be too many different things at once. They don't really work as general listening or computer speakers – the sound is too flat and just nowhere near as immersive as you could get from other options at the same price-point; your ears will be left wanting. They *also* don't really work as hi-fi or monitor speakers, due to the absence of bass (which is very noticeable). I thought these would be a decent substitute for the 305s, which were out of stock, but I was pretty disappointed. I would suggest if you are looking for monitors even at the intro level to just save up for something slightly more expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sound I bought these to replace a set of blown-up KRK Rokit 5s (G2) because the amp sections had died, probably bad caps in the amp section. Replacing the amp sections was economically unfeasible so I found these online and decided to take the plunge. What a pleasant surprise. JBL hits another home run!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crystal clear detail and accuracy for a low price! For a very low price of $149 you get professional level reference sound out of these monitors, and they sound amazing! I purchased these for the coaxial driver design which have a wider sound dispersion and they also output more accurately since the entire sound frequency spectrum is coming out of a single source. 10/10 would recommend these to friends and family for casual listening and professional use!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great studio reference monitors. These are some of the best speakers I've ever owned. They are amazing for listening to music casually or using them as serious studio monitors when creating music.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Laptop Installed the 104-BT’s 8-6-20. Just regular sound was bassy but I adjusted the EQ lows down a little and increased the highs and the sound quality was GREAT. Very pleased with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor Sound Quality and Unstable Bluetooth These are far from professional level monitors, I would not even buy them as computer monitors. The bluetooth disconnects and the sound quality is very imbalanced and muddy, both on the low and high end of the frequency. Their customer service is lazy, unresponsive and lie just to get rid of you. I called them more that 10 times just to get forwarded to Herman, and they are in no rush to assist, considering these were purchased less than 3 months had these issues since the beginning. Purchase from another brand if you have any respect for your time and value your money, because JBL clearly doesn’t, not one bit…

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not nearly loud enough for my needs These monitors are not loud enough compared to other monitors with similar stats, they honestly suck at a lot of things, and I would not use them as computer speakers, they are also too bass heavy, they might be clear in singular playback and if your goal is pod casting and vocal playback, 10/10 these will get you going, for my case they don't work that well. The Bluetooth is muddy and the TRS statics when turned up high with other outputs this isn't the case so it's the unit that causes it. I am going to just spring for what I should have bought the MKIII's or some other higher end monitors. I was trying to use them for digital playback for guitar parts playing over audio coming from my pedal board, and with the mix it became hard to hear and muddy requiring EQ use, I ended up just getting some headphones out to do the job properly. I am using a mac book to a volt 276 as my setup, I have not tried these on a PC or direct out of pedal board, I might nee to try that as they do have a 1/8 audio out.
