Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Device Just finished deploying 12 of these in our office as part of a full office technology refresh and I and my users absolutely love them. We had some issues with three of them which HP's support quickly took care of by shipping out new units. Before diving into the performance of the devices, let's review what all the capabilities of the Thunderbolt Dock are first. The front of the dock has a short (~1m) Thunderbolt/USB type-C cable coming out of it that you connect to your laptop. This cable looks like it is hardwired but it is actually just plugged into a USB type-C port on the bottom of the dock that is covered with an easily removable base (1 simple Phillips-head screw). I replaced this with a longer USB type-C cable which gives a lot of flexibility with where to place your laptop. The front of the dock also contains another USB type-C port. The right side of the device has a 1/8" combination headphone jack, a traditional USB 3 type-A port that supports power delivery, and a security slot for using a locking cable to secure the device to a desk. The left side of the device is devoid of ports. The top of the device includes six (6) touch-sensitive buttons. The five (5) buttons across the front of the device provide controls for (from left-to-right): - Skype for Business/Teams Call Answer - Mute (this mutes the built-in microphone array) - Volume Down (this decreases the Windows master volume level by two) - Volume Up (this increases the Windows master volume level by two) - Skype for Business/Teams Call End The final button is located at the back of the top of the device and functions as the power button for the connected laptop. On the back side there are two full-size DisplayPort ports, two (2) Thunderbolt/USB type-C ports with power delivery, two (2) USB 3 type-A ports, a VGA port, the power connector, and a gigabit Ethernet port. Everything works great but especially the speakerphone features. I've used this for Zoom and Google Meet meetings and everyone I've met with has remarked at how clear I sound. The speaker portion is good as well and will get quite loud. BONUS: This works great with Macs as well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for telehealth I work from home as a nurse practitioner for telehealth. This fit my needs perfectly. It works with my HP envy laptop, which was not listed on compatible computers. I spoke with HP and they said as long as you have a USB port it will work. The MIC is much more clear than the one on my laptop. The speaker is great too. I definitely recommend. There is no HDMI port, but you can connect a monitor to your laptop HDMI port or use a VGA cable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I was looking for in docking station! Super easy to hook up, even without written instructions. (I was a bit intimidated at first, but pictures worked for me). I have cleared my workspace and the easy one-connector hookup to my laptop is great for mobility. About $100 more than similar docking stations, but with the audio mic/speaker included, well worth the extra$.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT! Large functionality, small footprint. Easy plug and play for my HP 840 G5 laptop and my sister's MacBook Pro 15" with touchbar. Did not have any issues setting it up. I do have an 840 G3 work laptop I was hoping to use it with, but the USB-c port on that one does not support the dock. Doesn't bother me, I am happy it works with my personal G5 laptop and am using the ultra slim dock for work. My favorite part of the dock is the desk-space I saved and that its one cable to my laptop and I am docked and charging at the same time. It looks good too. The integrated speaker works great, I tested it with Skype and Zoom, its more than loud enough, i can see this being used in a conference room setup. I currently have attached two E232 displays via display port cables and two HP Velocity 14 portable monitors via USB for a total of 5 screens including my laptop screen at the center. Still had room for my Logitech MX Vertical mouse and Craft keyboard via the side USB, an Xbox one controller via the side thunderbolt 3, and my phone charger via the front thunderbolt 3. I am still playing with it to see what devices I am able to dock and which I cannot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rough set up, but great once that’s done I bought this thinking it was a plug and ready to go. In reality it took several calls to IT and several hours downloading drivers and updates on my brand new HP Elite I had just received to get this set up. Once that was done, it’s been great! Shout out to the fantastic IT support!! Nice, kind, respectful, and patient!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Thunderbolt Docking Station for Meetings. The Thunderbolt Dock G2 with audio module work well. It can produce good clear sound quality. It has standard USB ports, a VGA display port, two full DisplayPort, USB-C ports. We've purchased about 20 of these docks but two so far has issues with the audio module failing. Luckily it was still under warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded Expectations We purchased this dock about a month ago to go with our HP Elitebook X360 device. The audio system integrated perfectly with Skype for Business 2016. Our users love this feature. The thunderbolt dock supports charging a feature older USB C docks did not offer. This exceeded my expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No manual I've had the dock about two weeks. Works fine for basic functions and sound is good. Unfortunately, although it appears to have been designed with more advanced features, HP has decided not to provide an operation manual - either in the box or online. The device also makes random sounds once or twice a day. Again - can't troubleshoot because there is no manual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like a charm I purchased this dock a few weeks ago for use with my x360 1030 G2 notebook. It was easy to set-up and worked immediately. The audio dock is great. I spend a lot of time on Skype calls and now I no longer need to wear a headset all day long. Feels like I'm free! Given I work out of a home office use of a speaker phone doesn't disturb anybody. Noise cancelling seems to work well and the sound is great. I'm a happy guy using this dock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the Job Does the job though the price was high. I'd say it was too high except that I did fork it over. Still pricey though... I would've waited for the price to come down if the need wasn't relatively urgent. Such is life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for MBP to Run 2 Ultrafine 4K Monitors All the IO that you need and with the 2 USB-C type Thunderbolt 3 ports with Display-Port Alt Mode, you can run 2 of the Ultrafine 4K Monitors from a MBP 2016 or later off a single USB-C cable with the Apple/BlackMagin eGPU that did not both to provide more than 2 USB-C ports even though an RX580 GPU can support up to 5 displays. Fail on Apple. Success from HP. Decent speaker, ethernet port, 2 displays, and a bunch of USB-A along with everything else in the specs. Compact size, not intrusive, nice look to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't buy this model! Get the bigger one This has USB-c power and charging... but not for your laptop spend the extra 50 bucks or whatever and buy the other one. This a great example of a needless product literally no reason to even build this one over the other.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't work Terrible product, I hooked this up to a brand new HP laptop and it doesn't work. After 4 hours of bios firmware etc upgrades it still didn't work. I finally figured out that if I start thunderbolt manually, the computer will recognize it and things start to work but I have to do this every time I connect it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not compatible and not returnable I discovered that this is not compatible with my laptop. So I figured I would return it. It was only then that I discovered it was not returnable. It does work well as a $250 paperweight. Andmaybe when my company upgrades our laptops it willwork.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great docking. I got this docking station approximately a month ago and I’m glad I did. It is a good add-on. However, I wish it works seamless with the HP spectre x360 - 15t and that the speaker has a better output.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love This Hub But..... I did an extensive amount of research looking for a hub that would satisfy my expectations and meet my requirements. This hub came the closest. I originally had a Lenovo Thinkpad and docking station at work. The docking station was annoying because it was the kind where you had to line it up just right and press down until it clicked. Lining it up was often frustrating. When my company decided to refresh our laptops, they weren't giving docking stations. So, I purchased this on my own. When my employer demanded we work from home (Coronavirus pandemic), I ordered a second one for my home office. I loved that there was no more top docking - just a USB-C port that could do everything - including power. One of my requirements was that it would interface with WebEx and other conference meeting applications - I am on the a lot of them. Some of the things I did not think of we welcomed assets from the smart innovators at HP; like the ability to start the laptop by pressing on the top. That meant I didn't have to open he laptop, press the button, and close it, and the added USB port on the front where I plugged in my wireless dongle (for my keyboard and mouse). I docked (pun intended) the product 1 star because one of my requirements was "HDMI". The doc does NOT have HDMI ports. So, I had to purchase DP-HDMI adapters for my 2 monitors. If you plan to use the latest monitors (all which now use HDMI), don't forget to order (cable) adapters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worthy Thunderbolt Dock I bought this for my HP Spectre x360 13T which I haven't received yet, but thought I would go ahead and try it with my old ASUS. I have two 27" 4K monitors that I have tried numerous Thunderbolt dock brands with and received poor results. I connected this and they work great with the ASUS, awesome! I can't wait to get my HP Spectre x360 and connect it. I have noticed the microphone seems to have better pick than my pc also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Modern, Sharp Docking Station Worked right away with no hiccups with an EliteBook 745 G6. Audio sounds good and can get far louder than cheap 2.0 desktop speakers that are passively powered. Having two USB Type-C ports is nice, but only have three Type-A ports is a real bummer... kind of ridiculous having to run a USB hub off of this when it should be the sole USB hub. Even if two additional USB Type-A ports were just USB 2.0, that would be fine as many input peripherals like keyboard and mice are still USB 2.0, as well as wireless KB/mouse receivers. Also, I find it silly to have one side of this unit only have one port -- a USB Type-A port. I have this pushed up against my desk wall to save space, so that port is blocked. The USB Type-C PD cable that connects to the laptop sticks out the opposite end of all the ports, so you are already guaranteed to have two side of this unit having cables coming out. The USB ports are nit-picking but still enough for me to dock this unit one star. Functionally, it's an awesome dock; I'm glad we're going with these units over the regular USB Type-C docks. I do feel the higher cost is warranted, especially if speakers are desired. There's also a 230W version of this, but I think it's only supposed to be used with HP workstation laptops and desktops. This unit provides more than enough power to quickly charge your standard ProBook and EliteBook models and power all your hungry devices on the USB ports. I quickly charged my Asus Zenfone via the USB Type-C w/PD port while recharging the laptop at the same time. Overall, I'm pleased with this until and feel it's a worthy successor to the Slim Dock 2013 that it's replacing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of Ports and Great Audio! Got this to pair with an HP Probook with no problems. Lots of ports for all my peripherals and usb-c takes care of power for the laptop, so all cords for the laptop can stay in the bag. Makes it super easy to unplug the one USB-c port and stash the laptop in the bag and be on-the-go. Bang and Olufsen speaker sounds great on podcasts, webinars, and has easy tap calling features and volume controls for conference or video calls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Have! I have been using this dock for a year and a half now and it has been a game-changer for my work from home set up and my productivity. Getting it up and running properly on an HP Spectrex360 took a bit of time, i.e.multiple rounds of thunderbolt, bios & other software/firmware updates. Once over that hump, it' been a dream. I spend upwards of 6-7 hours/day in video-conference calls with no issues - the Bang & Olufsen sound is very clear. I've got it set up with 3 external hp monitors (2 DisplayPort, 1 VGA) via, a 5.1 surround sound system, a wireless mouse/keyboard, a couple of USB charging cables for cell/tablets, and everything works perfectly - no overheating, no failure, no lags.
