It would have been nice to include a small bottle of oil for lubricating the blades - my immediate response was a frustrated 'now I need to get some oil for it!!!' Also, I was very disappointed that it was made in China as I resent financing a totalitarian regime that is guilty of terrible human rights abuses and military bullying of its neighbours. I would like to see companies manufacturing their products in better places.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good. I shred everything from bank statements to junk mail - anything with a name on it - so any would-be dumpster divers won't get anything useful from my trash. My old 6-sheet micro cut shredder is finally wearing out after nearly 14 years of heavy household use - it's ripping as much as cutting the papers I feed in - so I purchased this Fellowes 62MC 10-sheet shredder. It's about the same size as my old shredder but weighs about 4 pounds more, most of that weight in the removable power head. I keep the shredder in my kitchen under the toaster oven cabinet so it's out of the way, but the casters make it easy to pull out for my everyday shredding. It's quieter than the old one, shreds to about the same size as the old one used to, and will do 10 sheets at a time. (The old one struggles with 3 - and the shredding is raggedy.) This Fellowes doesn't seem to provide for cutting up CD's like my old shredder - admittedly, a rarely used function - but otherwise, it seems to be a step up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My expectations were exceeded This Powershred 62MC Micro Shredder was delivered well packed and the set up was extremely simple. Initially I was a little disappointed in, what appeared to be a flimsy 5 gallon container, but after the unit was assembled, the shredder appears as if it will operate for many years. The one thing to consider is that you must be careful removing the 5 gallon reservoir and reinstalling it. Other than that, this micro-shredder is AWESOME!!! It handled 8 pieces of paper very well, I didn't try 10 pieces, but would expect that 10 work as advertised. Also, it was much quieter than my last shredder which was a pleasant surprise.

So far I am very impressed with this unit, as I worked it hard during the initial day of use. My only issue is when the bin gets full, the trash overflows the container and makes a mess.

In shopping for this shredder I looked at 2 different Fellows units, this has metal teeth for shredding instead of plastic. I feel that it should last longer. It is also has very quite operation, the on light is slighty recessed and does not create a problem at night.

Good price for a P-4 level home security shredder and a big step up from the strip shredder I was using. The assembly is very easy. The motor is quiet. The unit is on castors so easy to move around. Pull out draw gives easy access to empty shredded paper. End result is brilliant and no chance for the information to be re-assembled. This product is excellent and I would recommend this product for home use.

However, I have only at most shredded only 5 sheets of paper at a time. Like the easy removable basket. Also like the convenience, security and privacy of shredding at home instead of having to take my personal information to work or an outside shredding firm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good replacement I like this one because the shreds are much smaller than my 15 + year old Fellowes Powershred PS 80. It finally gave up and stripped a nylon gear in the mechanism (wish I could have it repaired). The 62 MC has a much smaller and narrower entry slot and sheets must be aligned much more accurately and cannot be the least bit crumpled or they won't feed into the slot.I'm sure the lawyers want the small slot to guard against lawsuits from careless idiots with small fingers. Would give it 5 stars if the slot were bigger. Durability remains to be seen, hope it will last as long as my PS 80 did.

Having looked to replace a hard working "small office" shredder I was very frustrated not to find anywhere locally where I could actually try, touch or even physically see any better quality machines. Going on recommendations on various websites, including Fellowes', I decided the 62MC was my best option. Whilst happy with the quality of shredding it doesn't seem to hold more than 4 sheets without jamming, despite officially handling 10 sheets. It also quickly gets hot and needs to be allowed to cool.

It came with detailed paperwork that made the setup very easy. I had the occasion to call the support number for advice and encountered very little wait time. I have only had the machine two days, so I can't attest to its jam resistance and how it handles shredding credit cards, staples, CDs and the like. However, t seems like a sturdy machine and my hopes are high.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even My Dog is happy After 10 years of flawless operation, I terminally jammed my old Fellowes shredder and was able to move to a micro-shred model. It is fantastic. It manages all sorts of materials and does a very good job with them all. It is also much quieter than my old model. My dog used to get upset and try to save me from the old model. Now his ears perk up but that's it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shredder for us This replaces a Fellowes P-48C, whose little plastic piece that detects paper fed in broke when shredding a CD. We chose the 62MC for the brand, the micro cut, and price. Bonus for us was quiet operation and a pull-out large capacity bin. We never do staples and I'll never do a CD again, so that capacity doesn't matter to us. It is specified to time out in order to cool down after 7 minutes of operation. I was able to shred slightly more than a ream of paper without it timing out. I've now done two bins of shredding and appreciate the quiet operation. The P-48C cross cut pieces could theoretically be reconstructed (probably if you had only one or two sheets shredded), while I don't see how this 62MC micro cut pieces could possibly be reassembled. The only thing better would be one such as we had where I worked that shredded into dust (literally - no exaggeration). And that was a commercial or industrial grade that probably cost at least ten times as much

We knew the old home quality shredder wasn't going to cut it so we asked our local print/equipment company to advise us on a replacement. The 62MC is a workhorse and is off to a great start...I'm sure it will continue to do it's part in reduction of waste by the complete destruction of all recycled paper in our office. Bob

Since then I have been researching shredders and debating on whether to keep using the service at work or buy another for the house. Well after looking over all the documents that require shredding and having our identities stolen twice, I had to purchase a shredder. I'm glad I invested in an efficient shredder instead of purchasing a cheaper one that doesn't include all the features I want/need.

If there were some sort of a handle on the bottom of the tray that holds all the cuttings it would make it easier to empty and mostly avoid any mess made while disposing of all the cuttings.

I purchased this Microshred 62MC back in August, 2020 to replace a Royal brand shredder that had become inoperable; the Fellowes Microshred 62MC is a far superior shredder--the best one that I have ever owned! I have never had a jam, even when trying to shred as-much-as 20 stapled sheets of paper, credit cards or similar plastic material. This shredder has a large capacity, is very easy to empty, and I reuse the included Waste Bag so I don't have to keep buying new ones. They key to good performance and longevity is to perform proper maintenance; that is to remove any paper shards from the Cutters (from my experience, there really isn't too much residue) and lubricate the Cutters with a high quality vegetable based lubricant that is specifically designed for shredders.

The new one is ultra quiet compared to the other. The micro-cut pieces are like confetti. No one is putting them back together.

It handles staples and paper clips, but does not shred cds and real thick mailers--election flyers--but it stated that when I purchased. It runs for 5mins without getting too hot, 7mins is its max continuous run time before shutting off for 60mins. 5mins of shredding is plenty of time to shred what I need to shred. The shredder seems to be of good quality and durable. The bin is really good size, it holds alot before needing to be emptied. The shred size is microcut and it is very small pieces. I dont think anybody could manage to put a piece of shredded paper back together, its that small. Its on 4 casters that move freely, the last shredder I had, the casters would constantly get stuck and it was a pain to move. The shredder is pretty heavy, but with the wheels it moves really easily where ever I need it to go.

However, I can talk about my first impressions: 1) SECURITY: The micro-cut shredding is impressive. I can't imagine anyone getting any information from the micro-cut paper. Security: Excellent. 2) JAM RESISTANCE: I don't believe the rated claims of any shredder for the number of pages you can shred at one time. The 62MC is rated for 10 pages at a time. I tried to limit myself to 2-3 pages at a time but sometimes put in six or seven pages together. No problem. I don't anticipate problems with less than the rated capacity. 3) NOISE: This replaces a Fellowes cross-cut shredder that finally gave up the ghost. To my surprise, this model is far more quiet. The ONLY objection I have (more of a nit-pick) is that the paper builds to peak in the disposal basket rather than falling evenly in the basket. As a result, this shredder -- even though it's a micro-cut -- requires MORE, not less, emptying than my old cross-cut shredder required (since it built up evenly in the bin rather than in the shape of a mountain). Overall, if it proves durable over time, I'm delighted by the purchase for the increased security and (relatively) quiet operation. (Sorry for writing this all in one paragraph, but the review window doesn't appear to allow paragraph breaks -- the ENTER key does nothing!)

I'm keeping it as a CD Shredder. In today's world, I felt a "micro-Shredder was warranted. I purchased the Fellows 62MC and love it! It's 60% quieter and does the job quickly. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Shredder Well, my old shredder final said no more. The task was to find a replacement micro-cut shredder. There are many on the market and the reviews vary like our New England weather. Each time that I thought "that's the one" I found many reviews that said it was not. I had been on the Fellowes site many times and my choice always was the Microshred 62MC. The reviews on this unit supported my purchase. This shredder is powerful, quiet and easy to use. The shredder handles shredding a credit card as easy as shredding a piece of paper! I have not tried shredding 10 pages at once but it did just fine with 5 pages.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a much better shredder than my last one When my last shredder bit the dust I went shopping for a better replacement. This shredder was highly rated on both Amazon and Walmart.com. I thought the price was a bit stiff, but I wanted a shredder that would last and do the job quietly. I received it in shipment and was surprised at the weight of the head ! If weight is any indication of power, this thing can handle the load. After assembling this shredder I tried it out. I was blown away at the quiet operation even when using 10 sheets of paper. No more loud screeching every time I go to shred junk mail! I really appreciate the pull out container when it's time to empty. My last shredder required that I lift the head and empty the basket. That is so messy ! Not this shredder. I would highly recommend this shredder to anyone considering a really good quality shredder. It is worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Shredder Rocks I had ordered this shredder for work and loved it so much I bought one for home use. It is very quiet for a shredder. It is also super easy to empty the bin without getting paper all over the floor. I would definitely recommend this shredder!!

The top shredding unit that contains the motor is a lot heavier than many of the past shredders I've owned, so I think that may bode well for durability. It seems solidly built, indeed--and it has a nice extra safety interlock on the top. Sometimes this type of safety feature is annoying--but this is simple and easy to use. This unit doesn't shred as small as the unit I have at home, but it is quieter. This shredder is not rated to shred data disks--if people have that need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Paper Shredder MC 62 - SO, so quiet and efficient I burnt out my 13 yr old shredder while disposing of decades of tax forms. I went online and saw a replacement Fellowes product that was highly recommended and could be delivered within days. My shredder was delivered to my door in 2 days and I instantly set it up to finish my project. This newer model was so much quieter than my last, smoothly accepted multiple sheets (where I had to feed and clear jams one sheet at a time with my older, dying model), and I was done in no time. It had been double box with the inside box containing lots of product protection. I was also happy that delivery was to my second floor condo door with a required signature, not just left for possible porch theft. THANK YOU to both the manufacturer and the retailer.
