Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indispensable for the EF user moving to the R series I have shot with Canon since 1980. The transition from the FD mount to the EF mount was painful since there was no viable adapter except third-party with sub-par intermediate glass elements. (I know. I own a couple of them. The EF to RF adapter makes this transition painless. Focus is quick and decisive. Additionally, the ring can be programmed for many different functions. I use it for ISO since it's the quickest way to change that speed versus the menu. An added bonus, should you have a third-party lens hanging around, is that the third-party lenses work well. The one draw back is you don't have all the focus points (to the edge) that you have with a Canon lens. I borrowed a friend's lens since I have all Canon glass (7 of them) so I could see if it functioned well. Focus was almost as quick as Canon glass, though you will get the most from EF (and especially "L") lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as expected. One issue with IS To be frank, I think the adapter without the control ring works just fine in most cases, unless you shoot in manual mode most of time. Otherwise it works as expected, except one thing: when I use my EF 24mm f/2.8 with it, IS is constantly on. Firmware of the camera is 1.1.0 and today is 3/21/2019. There's no such a problem when the lens is on my old T1i. I hope the problem will be resolved by a future firmware update.

Since I have a large investment in L glass lenses and am using the R with 5DSR and 5DIV the ring adapter was a must. I like it over the EOS - R without the ring.

While I own a couple of RF lenses, the remaining group of EF lenses get this improvement in function.

With the other brand I get too many "Communication Error" foul-ups. I need another Canon Control Ring as I leave them on several EF type lenses

This adapter makes using EF lenses of R series cameras effortless Basically, it's just a metal ring that moves the lens a bit away from the image sensor so it focuses properly with the correct focal length. Doesn't even have--or need--optics. But it is very well-constructed with precision and quality finish you won't find in third-party adapters. The control ring on this model is a nice addition as it adds extra functionality EF lenses lack on their own. How often do adapters ADD features with zero reduction in functionality? And it doesn't add excessive weight or bulk to the setup. A great purchase!

I bought the Control Ring version, because I didn't know I would regret not having it. The issue I have found it I am not using the ring. It's in a different place for each lens and this ring, so that means avoiding it. If I did it again I would buy the cheaper version without the ring.

Made it easier to get into mirrorless knowing I wouldn't have to buy all new lenses. Control ring gives you some alternative options for changing settings which is nice.

As a Canon film SLR user from 1968 to 2003 and then a Canon DSLR user until August 2022. when I got my R7, I really appreciate that the Control Ring on RF lenses lets me set the f/stop on the lens like with my film SLR - amd this adapter lets me do that with my EF lenses as well. I set shutter speed with the main dial on the top deck and run in Manual exposure with the histogram in the viewfinder, and I'm home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Image Stabilization always stuck on I have the same experience as the user who wrote "Works as expected. One issue with IS" . Regardless of camera settings, IS is always on (except when switched off manually on the lens of course. This is rather troubling as it will unnecessarily drain the battery and increase wear and tear on the lens IS mechanism. Wondering if others have this problem too or whether I just have defective adapter. Canon RP camera firmware (Ver 1.6.0) is up to date as of 10-Feb-2021. Using together with EF 100-400mm IS II USM tele lens.

Called customer service after a week to find out it is backordered for at least 3 months. Without an adapter, I can't use my current EF glass, and there aren't any reasonably priced RF lenses available either. That means waiting a lot longer before I get the R5, otherwise it's a paperweight.

I love that I did not have to go and get an entire new collection of lenses for my new camera. my only critique is that it makes the manual focus on my EF 50mm lens a bit buggy. Otherwise it works great and has been worth every penny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get this one with the new RF programable ring. It works great with all my EF lenses that I have tried with it, including my non-Canon (a Sigma 150-600). I highly recommend this more expensive version with the optional new ring added to the RF lenses that can be programmed to specific camera functions. I use it for the exposure (the EV+/-) adjustment and I love being able to see the effect instantly while looking through the viewfinder. This is especially helpful with the mirrorless cameras because you can see the effect in the viewfinder LCD.
