Other than carrying the box up a flight of stairs alone, the setup was easy with info graphics and details. Its picture printing quality is also above average.

It still goes to sleep occasionally and will not wake up on command but with a lot of patience it usually does eventually wake up. Two sided printing quit working shortly after starting to use it regularly but so far all my 2 sided work has been single sheet so I can accomplish it manually.

Toner was out the next day after receiving toner notice. To add insult to injury, took 10 days to receive toner from brother. That is unacceptable!

It was a night and day upgrade and the laser and color was an added bonus. Toners are widely available with affordable brands, another bonus.

Have to go and restart almost every other day for the computer to find the printer. The print quality is okay and nothing to e wowed about.

They look more professional. I love the double-sided print option. I also love that it`s a laser printer vs. an inkjet printer. I can immediately highlight documents without smearing the print. I also like the larger capacity paper tray. The startup instructions were clear, but there are a whole lot of options and settings that need a full manual to understand. When I read it was compact I expected something a whole lot smaller. It`s about the size and weight of two cases of wine. It`s longer than it is wider so it didn`t fit well on my bookshelf, the only place I had to put it. It met my expectations. I never had any issues printing over wifi, never jammed, and it just works. I like that I can buy toner colors separately so I don`t have to buy all colors whether I need them or not.

This color printer cannot be beat for a small home office. I do transcription in addition to running several Etsy shops. I often print large transcription documents for proofing, mailing labels, photos, invoices, and crochet patterns which include a lot of photos. The setup for wireless was easy as could be. I installed the software on several computers, both with the included disc and by downloading from the website. It was super quick both ways. I love the fact that the printer is wireless because we have offices on two different floors of our house, in addition to work I do on my laptop from multiple locations. I never had any connectivity issues.The printer itself is super quick and I found that printing lots of graphics with color ink, it dried a lot quicker compared to my other printer. This is a huge benefit to me because I didn`t have to wait to handle documents or photos.The only minor con to this printer is the weight, but that`s to be expected with a printer of this size and capacity. The double-sided printing, quick printing speed, and crisp color far outweigh the inconvenience of the size. The fact that it is wireless, though, means that it can be left in my office and even if I move my furniture around, I don`t have to worry about moving cords to my computer itself.This is the first Brother printer I`ve ever owned. I would definitely buy this or any other printers in the future. It has made my work a lot easier.

We switched to a laser printer for mainly that reason. We love it. It's fast, quiet and we no longer have "wet" paper that we have to hope dries without curling. The only thing I would do different would be to purchase a laser printer that can also scan and copy. We opted for the less expensive version that does not do that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Straight Forward Printer That Works I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. This Brother printer was amazingly easy to setup and use. It took about 5-10 minutes following the instructions to be ready to turn on and print. I really like the wireless printing which seems to be a normal feature these days but it was a plus that it worked flawlessly with my computer on the first try. The 1-Line LCD is not fancy in any way but it gets the job done and makes navigating the menus and accessing all the features of the printer fairly easy. I prefer a full color LCD display but this worked well enough that I was not frustrated with it.As far as the print quality was concerned the black and white printing and simple color graphics looked amazing but more complex color printing such as images we not great. This is of course to be expected with a laser printer and overall the print quality for typical office work is superb. I appreciated the ease of duplex printing as well, I use this feature often and am happy when it just works. The fact that the printer was fairly quite was also a huge plus.I think the size and heft of this "compact" printer surprised me a bit so definitely read the dimensions information. The printer was surprisingly heavy, which is fine as long as you don`t plan on moving it much. It has a very sturdy design and seems to be built with quality in mind. I do not have much experience with other color laser jet printers (only B&W Laser and Color Ink Jet so I am not sure how this stacks up. It is not overly large for an office or home, just bigger than i was expecting.If you are looking for a great home or small office printer that will lower your ink costs and has all the features you need and nothing you don`t I think you would be very happy with this printer.

If using this copier for an in-home setting, very good, but really not good for a high volume office. Takes quite awhile to do duplicate copies, but the quality of print is very good. Color was a little off compared to the originals online. Did not match.Size of the machine is too big for just making copies. I would assume at this size, a scanner, printer, fax and copies combo would be included.I think this machine would be good for a college student.

I received the brother color printer in exchange for my unbiased opinion. The printer works great. Printing is fast and the quality is superb. It is quiet when printing, which I like. Set-up was easy to follow and I am not a tech-type of person and had no trouble setting it up and installing it properly the first time. I was disappointed that it does not have a copier function, which means I need to keep my old printer, just to use as a copier. Keeping both units will take up extra space and I now have to stock two different types of ink/toner.

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased review. The Brother HL-l3230 CDW is a small printer but has a good weight to it. This makes it easy to place in any size room and especially good for small offices. I had no problem installing the printer on my home network using the default print driver supplied with Windows 10. There is a CD and instructions to help guide you and get the Brother software. I connected this to my laptop and desktop using my home network through WIFI. This has an easy to use and see LCD screen. The toner cartridges are easy to install, just make sure they snap into place so they are seated properly. The speed in which full color images are printed, even photo quality, is very fast. It has pass through printing for the thicker card stock for product packaging and brochures. It will do envelopes and mailer just fine. The print quality is nowhere near what an inject printer will put out. I get good detail but the colors seem bland and there are times with the print looks fuzzy when I`m trying to print product labels in full color. But it isn`t too bad. I use this solely for business documents that have some color text and a color logo across the top. There is no visible smudging, the lines are crisp and colors accurate. I did print a color picture once with acceptable results--keep in mind this isn`t a photo printer. When not in use for a while, the printer is in a deep sleep mode to save on energy. It doesn`t take long to wake it up after sending a print job. This is supposed to save energy so not a bad thing, just a little annoying. The paper tray is well built, not flimsy like some I have seen and holds 250 pages. This model also has the added feature if duplex printing. I have used it several times and each time it worked well. This is another money saving feature of the printer. With the manual feed slot you are able to insert thicker stock or envelopes. I don`t need this feature too much but it is nice to have and worked without any problems or jams. I have yet to experience a paper jam while using this printer, which is a great plus for me. I like the speed at which it prints, both in B&W and color. I don`t find it very noisy either, which is good in a small office setting. For the initial cost and size, this is a nice printer for your office or home.

Fisrst let me tell you how easy it was take out of box and install.I have had about 9 printer combos from all the best manufactures since 1999.This HAS TO BE THE EASIEST to connect to my small office for my painting business.One of the best features is how quiet and efficient it is i am so tired of hearing the door bang open on my last printer .i love how compact it looks on my desk.i have done all my invoices,proposals,and have scanned with such grace i can go on forever .I am so impressed with the Brother HL-l3230CDW i would recomend it to my family friends what a pleasure to have such a great addition to my office.

This wireless Brother printer is compact for a small home office or even an office that doesn`t do a high volume of printing. Upon opening the box, I was pleased to see it was VERY WELL PACKED!My YAY`s: + It prints both color and black using toner.+ I LOVED the wireless function capability to print DIRECTLY from a mobile phone and tablet. I run 90% of my business using mobile devices so I was VERY PLEASED+ High print capacity from full to empty toner+ Very quiet when printing, even when using the 2 sided printing feature+ Large buttons to make adjusting settings and preferences simpleMy NAY`s:- EXTREMELY heavy- Although there are "quick setup" directions, I Did not find them simple to follow- Spent 45 minutes attempting to follow the directions then had to look for more help on the Brother website- Unfortunately, the specific model WAS NOT listed on the website where additional troubleshooting FAQ`s for specific models- Connecting and setting up wireless printing without an in home router was VERY CONFUSING- The customer service rep wasn`t very helpful. After about 30 MORE minutes on the phone, I was able to get the WiFi settings working properlyFINAL THOUGHTS:Overall, this is an AVERAGE printer. This was my first time using a Brother product. Would I purchase another one? If it was on sale and I was getting a good deal, yes. It is a good printer for someone on a budget but hoping to get the features available in a more well known printer brand. I would like to see the directions both on the website AND on the quick set up guide changed to increase the ease of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Step Up from Ink Jet Printer Finally decided to add a Brother color laser printer, because of my experience with other Brother printers - both ink jet and B&W laser. Did consider other's for a moment, but the print speed, ease-of-use, cost of consumables, and past experience with Brother and it's proactive firmware updates made my choice much easier. Wi-Fi set up was a breeze (just like all my other Brother printers. Color looks great, using 600x600 dpi setting. If I need to print for a client, I have the option of using 2400 dpi. Also really like that printer holds so much paper - 250 sheets. The ability for automatic two-sided printing is a big savings for my real estate business.

Item: Compact Digital Color Printer HL-L3230CDWI received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. This printer works well and looks great. It`s sleek and unobtrusive. Our former printer was larger, clunky, and ugly. This printer is a perfect neutral cube that does not detract from the decor of our home. I love how it is relatively low-tech. It was easy to set up the wifi connection and start printing from my laptop or phone. The LCD screen is small and simple. No huge touch screen to confuse me with pages of options. The instructions were very visual and in color, which helped me set it up in less than 5 minutes. I work from my home, and have two kids in elementary school. This printer is great for my needs. I used it to print pictures, soccer schedules, check lists, etc. The resolution is crisp, and judging by the toner the ink will last quite awhile. The only small complaint I have is that you have to scroll through the alphabet to enter in the wifi password. But considering you only have to do this once, and the fact it has a small simple screen, it`s not a big deal.

Prints quickly, gave me the option to print double sided. Takes on various weights of paper without glitching. Multiple pieces of paper are working well at the same time. I like that I can connect to the wireless network and print to whatever my computer and printer are connected to. The instructions were easy. Assembly was self explanatory and easy to do. It is heavy and feels like a solid piece of equipment that my home or office would use for a long time. I can`t have it next to me, it has a high pitch noise after printing is complete, so I would like it on the other side of my office. I will keep using this. I like it! I love the color print aspect of this printer!Overall seems like a great piece. AirPrint as an option is stellar, handy to print from my mobile device or tablet. Looking forward to connecting many devices to this printer.

My only complaint is that the manual feed tray takes one sheet at a time. My B&W laser printer that this replaced could handle up to 50 sheets in the manual feed tray.

I'm supposed t be sent a new/refurbished one in 3-5 business days. We'll see. I'm told there is no qualified repair shop within 150 miles. In the San Antonio area??? Are you kidding me? What kind of BS is that!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good output but inconsistent and unreliable When the printer works it works well. Color output is clean and vibrant (for a laser. Don't expect photo quality. But for graphics and text the output is very nice. Unfortunately, I regret buying this printer. It is more trouble than it is worth. I should have spent more and will likely now buy a higher end machine (probably hp) with better heavy paper handling specs and higher manual feed capacity. I've been using a small Brother B&W laser printer for 5 years in my home office. Prior to that I had a mid-range hp color laser printer (about twice the price of this HL-L3230). Both were extremely reliable and had very few hardware (paper jams, toner marks) or software (failed print jobs, driver compatibility) issues. Recently I needed color output so I did some research and decided to go with a color Brother machine. Obviously a color printer is more complex than a B&W machine. It is also much more expensive to buy and maintain so I therefore expect a higher degree of mechanical quality. In 2 months of ownership I've run numerous paper types through this new machine including varying office papers, card stocks and labels. Every paper I have used has been laser compatible according to the paper manufacturers and within the supposed capabilities of this printer (60-163 gsm). Every type of paper has jammed. Some have jammed once. Some have jammed every time. Jams have occurred in both the auto feed tray and the manual feed tray. Clearing the jams has required opening the top and removing all 4 toner cartridges. In 80% of the reported "jams" there was not any actual paper physically in the mechanism. The printer simply demanded I pull all the cartridges and reinstall them before it would continue. There are idiosyncrasies with the driver software. Suffice to say I had hoped that the mild driver frustrations I experienced with my B&W Brother machine would be improved in this newer, fancier machine. I was wrong. Virtually identical interface. Example: every time you print label you have to acknowledge not one but two dialogue boxes telling you to use the manual feed tray. My B&W machine persistently had one. I've asked Brother support how to disable these annoying pop-ups but nothing has worked. So if you print labels be prepared to spend a lot of time clicking [OK]...[OK]...[OK]... to finally get output. Considering the size of this machine, the manual feed tray is a joke. It is too short to support a single sheet of anything. You must push in the sheet until the feeder grabs it or else it just falls out. I also has only a single sheet capacity. Yes, I know this going in but it is more of a hindrance than I expected.

Inkjet color cartridges on my old printer routinely dried up from lack of use and I would have to waste time and ink cleaning the print heads over and over when I needed to print in color. I already own a stand-alone scanner, so I didn’t need an all-in-one printer. However, I didn’t want to spend a ridiculous amount of money. This printer was the perfect solution. I connect it via Ethernet to my Mac, and via WiFi to all the other devices in our house. It is fast and the outcome looks great.

It makes very crisp copies...... when I can get it to stay connected to the pc. I purchased it to replace an older one that quit printing (which isn't working cause it won't stay connected.

It is our first laser printer and we have already put several reams of paper thru it. It was easy to set up with our wi-fi and it just keeps on printing without a hitch.

I did have some trouble interfacing to printer, I use a Hawking Print Server with a defined ip address. Had some trouble getting it to connect, and still receive some errors, but it appears to print fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great color quality and speed I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. i was happy with this printer right out of the box not much packaging only a few pieces of tape to remove the wires where all easy to find, set up was easy the printer wasn`t to over sized, and the cartridge was easy to snapped right in so I could get right starting to print. Installing the software on my computer was fairly quick not to many steps. I did have to try two times to hook it up to my wifi but that might of been more my fault. Setting this printer maybe took 10 -15 minutes total. Once it was all installed I ran a couple of nice color prints family photos about 20 just to see what the printer could do, I was impressed it printer fairly fast and the over all quality was great the colors where vibrant. The main thing I liked was being able to connect this printer to my phone and iPad this way I could print emails while checking my phone instead of having to start up my computer find the file and then start printing. It also made it nice to take a picture and be able to print a copy or two from my phone. I`m pretty satisfied with this printer, it`s a good quality printer that deliver nice prints at a good speed it was fairly quite.

Printer works fine and is easy to set up but the quality of the print is below that of the HP both in brightness and sharpness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wifi doesn’t work. Prints beautifully, but wireless doesn’t work. I’ve tried every possibility to get it to work, only to find out it connects to specific networks only. So little mom and pop wifi networks outside the big cities doesn’t connect. I bought it because I do a lot of printing from my iPad, but low and behold it doesn’t work with Apple products either. Perhaps you should put that information in your ad!

You must have a science degree to set the placement for the envelope. The printer turns off after a period of time, I have to remember to turn it on every morning. This Printer prints slow, it's just slow.

It paired immediately with the modem and with our computers. It is fast, quiet and the quality is excellent. It was a good purchase for us.

SIZE: I have a small home office and I like the size of the printer, the size is small enough to fit on one side of my desk without taking up a lot of space. I am able to have the printer on one side of the desk, and it leaves me with plenty of space to be able to work on my desktop computer and have paperwork on the desk all at the same time. WEIGHT:It is a very sturdy/heavy printer - so you will definitely need a well built/strong desk or table to place the printer on. I am a 5`6"- 170LB Women and I needed help lifting the printer out the box and on to my desk. It is very heavy printer. SETUP: The set up is extremely easy. As soon as you open the box everything is marked with removable/colorful tags that tell you what to do and what to remove. It also comes with a user friendly guide that you can read that is set up with easy step by step instructions. I set up the wireless function and it was quick and easy. From the time I took it out the box to the time I was able to use it - was less that 20 minutes. INK: I really liked that it came with the ink cartridges - black and color - already installed. They seemed to be very large cartridges and will probably last a long time - depending on how much/often you print. Printing Quality & Speed: This is a wireless printer, but you can connect to it with a USB cord if needed. I really enjoy being able to print a document/documents from a different room because I setup the wireless option. I printed test documents and they came out quickly and very clear. I printed a picture using the color cartridges and it also came out clear - if I had used picture paper it would have probably been much clearer.DISLIKE: The only problem is that it only prints. It does not offer scanning or copying features. Overall if you are only looking for a sturdy, well built, desktop quality PRINTER - I believe this s a great printer.

The other two, when accessed and push the up button will not work. I have called your service provider, and the only thing he could do was send me a page breakdown of the the construction, all checked fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked excellent until it didn't in less than 30 d I bought this printer specifically for doing full color TShirt transfers. With regular paper it was the cleanest of all of our printers, and we own many. Once I inserted the Forever Light Transfer media, the fuser melted the media to the roller, causing the printer to be unusable. I sent it to a local authorized repair shop, and thankfully it was still under warranty, or I would have just replaced it due to the high cost of repair. Been a few weeks to get it back, as parts are hard to get, even under warranty, and the support is terrible for talking or contacting anyone. Would I buy another, and try again? Absolutely, our print shop requires the best prints possible for our clients.

The color is very good and the speed is as fast as either of my black and white printers. The color/black cartridges are lasting longer than I expected. This is great value printer and I highly recommend it to anyone in a home office environment and maybe even a small office networked printer.

I use 16 pound paper without any problems. I have printed four to 500 booklets and recently replaced the drum for black the black toner. With a new drum the quality is excellent!

No real problems so far - output is very good. As a tip: For firmware upgrade (simple it seems I had to work from the first computer on which I loaded the printer. The second computer didn't allow security access - but fine with printing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from jammed and died I ordered this almost a year ago and it worked for 6 months and then jammed up and gave an error, support will not help you unless you use certified brother products so after amazon lied to me about real brother parts I returned that and now I just now got the full brother toner set, so maybe I can get it fixed or replaced now.

The printer print is very good but only a month into owning it the paper does not feed through the top anymore, crinkles like an accordion in the back if door kept shut. While it does not effect the print quality it is very annoying as I have limited space and having the back open is a hassle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Machine, but not without problems The one I was sent was suppose to be new (from Amazon but the black toner smeared when printing. I had to clean it. But more than that, although Brother agreed to ship me a replacement toner (after days of me trying to reach them), they were out of stock and it was three weeks before they shipped. I do not understand how they could be "out of stock" of Black Toner. The machine itself is fine and I am happy with my purchase, but feel like support from Brother is not what it was before, not to mention the fact that they apparently could not keep Black Toner in stock. That is a little concerning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Priced Just Right Purchased this printer because the inkjet was always drying up whenever my kids had a school project. Was tired of running to the store to find ink. I also hated the wetness and waiting for the pages to dry. This Brother printer was so easy to set up my 11 year old helped me. They love being able to print from anywhere and on all of their devices. The only issue I wish Brother could resolve is the keying in of the password for the WiFi, it can be frustrating typing one letter at a time. Other than that the Priced was just right.

I'm extremely happy with it, the WiFi is terrific, I can print from another room or from my phone. The color is good, this printer is an excellent value, money well spent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great printing at a low cost. I needed a color printer that does not get a lot of daily use. Inkjet printers never worked for this. The cartridges always dried out from lack of use. When I went to print the inket printers never worked correctly. I decided to stop throwing away inkjet printers and buy a low cost color laser printer. The toner cartridges do not dry out. You can let the laser printer be in standby mode for days even weeks and it will still work as soon as you send a print job to it. I use mine on a wireless network so I only have to run a power cord to it. All of my other networked computers can send print jobs to this printer if they don't want to wait for my other duplex printers. This printer also serves as an excellent backup printer. While it is not in the same class as my photo printer and it does not have a scanner, it does do a great job of printing color documents.

Bought this printer reconditioned from Amazon and it everything I had hoped. Even prints double-sided, is totally wireless and we can even print directly from our smartphones. It it was smaller and lighter it would get a 5 star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very solid performer, if maybe a little slow. I spent a lot of time researching printers before choosing the HL-L3230CDW for use in a small business setting. Reviews for this printer were very good, and it has the features I need. New toner cartridges are reasonably priced, a major consideration for me, and I can chose two-sided printing, which I needed and my old printer did poorly. It's also very quiet, something that couldn't be said the for the old Dell it replaced. The only downsides are A) somewhat slow processing speed before it prints and B) slightly clunky envelope printing. Other than that, I'm very pleased with this printer.

Software is not supported by Brother Canada though and changing print options are limited since the Apple formatting only allows for AirPrint. Unable to use draft mode in printing choices. Costly mistakes in this purchase for the future.

For some reason wi-Fi chip refused to recognize the Internet in my house even though all other hand sets and all other electronics detects the network.

The older model is multi-function fax-scanner-printer, which still is working after many years. This new model prints even better, cleaner pages, and very quiet. Time will tell if this machine lasts as long as the older one, but I have a high hope.

My old one still worked well but replacement drums, etc. we’re getting to be nearly as much as a new machine so I went for this one. It has similar capabilities but better. The installation procedure was simpler and I can now print directly from my iPad and iPhone, too—without a special app.

The manual or bypass tray doesn’t function properly most of the time, it typically indicates there is a paper jam instead of feeding the paper through. There isn’t an actual pull out tray of any kind to support the paper and I think that might be part of the problem. I also just discovered that when I feed envelopes through, it wrinkles and distorts them, leaving them looking unprofessional. Lastly, I’ve noticed the resolution is more “fuzzy” instead of crisp and clear.

Other issue is printing of eSCL/ScannerStatus HHTO/1.1 notifications. Irritating and unwanted. Have yet to find a way to stop the printer from printing these notifications. Seems every time I boot the computer I get one. Also when I print a document I get one of these notifications. Wastes a lot of paper. Should be a setting to option out of continuous notifications.

I am not very savvy when it comes internet, Wi-Fi, trouble shooting etc. so this wasn’t bad at all. My only problem is I have been trying to print photos 5x7 and I cannot figure out how to change the size for the photo paper. I have read and re-read manuals, instructions, even YouTube. Probably will end up calling Brother for assistance

I like the fact that in the printing dialogue that comes up on my computer screen after I click on "Print", I can select to use the full printing features or else I can reduce the use of toner through printing only mono format or select toner saving mode. I also like that this printer is able to print both sides of the paper, which I know I will find handy at times and it saves on paper. I do not do high volume printing, but for my purposes, this printer is a very good buy. I had previously purchased a different model of Brother laser printer in 2008 and it lasted for years until I finally realized I need to replace it. So far I am happy with it and I think others should consider this model as I think they will be happy with it also.

We have two computers and every time I connected the printer to one it would disconnect from the other computer. Ended up hard wiring too one and wireless to the other.

The printer was setup in under 10 minutes including getting it on our wireless network. Print quality and speed is amazing even in duplex mode. You will not be disappointed purchasing this printer.
