Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lacking with instructions and tech support Not much detail as to the operation, especially the display and how it is supposed to operate. Usually the software these days will help with that. I downloaded the software and it would not install. Said the zip file was corrupted. I contacted customer support through chat. She said what do you need that for? It will work without it. I found that as an odd response. I persisted and she sent me a link. That was some sort of a temp file and wouldn't do anything. Then I find out later reading other comments that the software won't work with Win 10 anyway. I wonder if that's why they leave the zip file broken. So you can't install software that won't work for you anyway. They need to write some new software.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't last very long. I have a tower PC and monitor hooked up, with a small router and phone, and the battery doesn't even last 10 minutes from full, with the PC idling. It drains so quick I can literally watch the squares in the battery icon go away the minutes I watch. This should get me a good half an hour at least, but comes nowhere close. I'm going to look elsewhere for UPS during my next purchase, which will probably be soon since this one doesn't seem to really work well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SWEET This device, an APC Back-UPS Pro model BX1500M, is a great UPS. It does what it is supposed to do, and does so with little fuss or bother (overall). While it is a bit physically larger than many similar capacity (1500VA) UPSes, it is a slim case design that works well under your desk, or on your bookshelf. I have experienced absolutely no operational issues with the UPS over the past couple of weeks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic 1500VA UPS! I want to start off by saying that my initial impression upon opening the packaging and setting the unit on the floor for the first time was... "Wow! This thing is much smaller and lighter than I was expecting!" I am impressed by the feeling of quality considering the compact size and affordable price of this 1500 unit. The BX1500M includes 10 total outlets - 5 of which are actual Battery Backup Connections and then 5 are only Surge Protection but this has proven to be more than enough for my needs without having to scramble for additional outlets. After connecting everything my entertainment center currently has to throw at it (Newer 55" 4k Television, Xbox One X, a Netgear Range Extender, a work Phone and Headset on the Battery side with a Playstation 4 Pro, two external Hard Drives and a LAN phone on the Surge side) I was met with 30% load and around 20 minutes of runtime. Not bad considering how thirsty the XB1X systems are known to be. I will say though that because of the compact size of the unit and typical spacing of the outlets I did have to attach a few 6" outlet extender cables to accommodate some of the larger odd shaped plugs on some of my equipment but that was to be expected. The front of the UPS has a friendly easy to read LCD status screen and three easy to see light up buttons including Power, Status Info, and Mute. Very happy with the info status options you can cycle through as well as the size and feel of the rubberized buttons on the front top of the unit. The one minor complaint I have with this unit is that it does not include multiple easy access USB charge ports as some newer units are beginning to include. I can only assume that APC will update the next design to include better USB functionality. If this unit had multiple USB charging ports I would have easily given it a full 5 star rating. It DOES have a proprietary cable providing a USB connection off of the back but I think that is just an interface cable and not meant to charge anything via USB but I will have to go back and take a second look at that and possibly update my review in the near future. One complaint I have read online about these units is that it can emit an annoying noise/chirp and I am happy to say that my unit is super quiet and I don't even know it's in the room with me unless I look down to see it smiling back up at me. I will also say I am very happy with the fact that it includes a generous Equipment Protection Policy as well as a 3 year repair or replace warranty which is fantastic. For the price I would say this is a very good deal providing backup and surge protection for several power hungry devices and I am definitely going to recommend a purchase to anyone in need of such a device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AV protection I am testing this APC Back UPS Pro BX1500M on home A V equipment, consisting of a 58" Plasma TV, 100 watt per channel 7.1 receiver, blue ray player and dvd recorder, Really like the battery install, no longer have to worry about wire routing, just flip the battery over and install, then replace the battery compartment cover. one of he batter compartment cover "s latches was mis-moulded and didn't fit properly.. The setup was simple and connecting the Av devices was easy. Like the coaxial ports location. The display is nice and clear and gives you the readoust that are important. Didn't have any power surges from storms or powerloss yet, but have heard the unit switch over to battery a few times I believe due to low voltage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Unit arrived in excellent condition, well packaged. Really liked that battery installation was highlighted in yellow tape on unit -- many people don't read manual. I have had the unit in service for several weeks and it has worked well. Since we haven't had any unexpected power outages, I have faken several by unplugging the unit. It worked exaclty as I would expect it to work. It will certainly protect your equiipment duriing an outage. I wish that the spacing on the power outlets on the back was somewhat broader so that it could diretly handle plug-in power units for external drives. As it is, only three of the four outlets for backup can be used since I have two external disk drives that I want to proctect. I could plug a pwer strip into the backup outlet and then power hte drives from that unit to provide the protection I need, but this does add to the clutter under my desk. Overall, I would certainly recommend this unit to anyone who need quality UPS backup for their home or office computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Back UPS Pro BX1500M A solid UPS with just a few minor issues. The UPS arrived and was packed very well. When I took it out it was heavier than I thought it would be. It feels like a high quality, well built unit. Installing the battery was easy thanks to the instructions on the UPS. Then came the software they want you to install although not needed to run the UPS). This is where it was a bit odd. The first oddity was the cable. It was a USB to serial data port connection...why?? Why not update the connection on the UPS so it can go USB to USB (just saying). The other thing was the Power Chute software. It is not directly compatible with Windows 10?!?! It asks you to install Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 SP2 that came out in 2005. I e-mailed APC support and they told me “a lot of older programs won’t install or run correctly because they require previous versions of .NET Framework.“. Older programs?!?! This is a NEW UPS. So, not wanting to mess up my wife’s PC and sleep on the couch I chose not to install it. I then connected my equipment (4K TV, sound bar, subwoofer, gaming system, router and a couple of other pieces) and fired it up. The display is bright and the unit is very quiet. If not for the dimly lit control button I would not know it’s on. I have been running this unit for a good week with no issues whatsoever. There are 2 suggestions I would make to improve the tower: 1. Move the battery compartment closer to the front so it is easier to access 2. While I love having the 10 outlets in the back I wish they were spaced a little wider to accommodate larger wall worts. In sum, this is an excellent UPS system and I feel confident that my connected equipment will be well protected. If APC makes a few minor tweaks this UPS can be exceptional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Back UPS Pro BX1350 I received the battery backup , BX1350M, by FedEx in great shape. The outside box was a bit beat up but well boxed up and protected inside. After removing everything from the box I was surprised that the battery was fully charged and ready to go. All that is needed to do is slide the access cover for the battery off, remove the battery, turn it around and reinstall the battery. In less than 5 minutes I had the battery backup unboxed, monitor and computer connections made and ready to turn it all on. Now I should state that I had a backup from APC before and so I still had the PowerChute software installed so I could skip the step of installing the software. No CD with software comes with the product but it is a small download from APC’s website and installs with ease. This must be done before using the battery backup to make use of the shutdown feature. A brief explanation of tests I did were on a system with an Intel i7 processor and a nVidia 1080 video card both water cooled. The display is a Dell Ultra Wide Curved 34”. Testing the battery and software was done with the computer at rest in Windows 7 and with the computer working both the CPU and the GPU at 100%. This was done by folding proteins using Folding@Home. The wattage and load while at rest was 165w at 20% load and while folding was at 370w at 45% load. The first test was at rest and displayed a 28 minute runtime. Unplugging the appliance there was no noticeable loss in power. After 17 min of use on the battery it hit 50% life left and displayed 14 minutes runtime left. At the 29 min mark and 4 min runtime the PowerChute software went into action and powered down the system. With the monitor still on the display showed 11 minutes runtime until the monitor went into powersaver mode giving the battery another 91 minutes. Full recharge with nothing plugged in took a whopping 13 hrs, but then it is lead-acid and not li. The second test was with FAH running on both the CPU and GPU displaying a runtime of 10 min. Unplugging the appliance exhibited no issues and FAH kept chugging along. At the 6 min and 50 sec mark it hit the 4 minute runtime and PowerChute went into action, shutting down the system. This time, after plugging in the battery backup, I restarted the computer and went back to FAH to see if there would be a difference in time to reach full charge. The time was about the same, minus an hour. Part of the reason I believe is that with such a fast drain left more battery life at the 4 min mark and thus recharge was a bit quicker. Another take away is that you can still use the equipment while recharging without taking a hit on recharge time. In the end, this is a great product that not only protects equipment from being damaged but will also shut down a computer safely without losing data. If the power requirement are the same or greater than what I used and a few more minutes of runtime Is desired then maybe the 1500 is what one may want instead of the 1350. Whatever the requirement is, be assured that APC’s BX series will do the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well done, Schneider-Electric / APC! This device, an APC Back-UPS Pro model BX1500M, is a great UPS. The only concerns that I feel should be mentioned regard the design of the item. APC has now equipped almost their entire production line of UPSes with what appears to be an impressive, LED back-lighted, 1.5” square, LCD displays, which indicate various bits of information on the operational state of the device. Unless configured to be ON full time, the display is illuminated only when a power event occurs, or when a pushbutton above the LCD is actuated. Thoughtfully, the white / light blue colored back-light stays on for only 60 seconds or so, and then goes dark, until the next instance for use. However, there are three pushbuttons (audio alarm mute, power on / off and display status) directly above the LCD that are LED illuminated. The color temperature (hue) of the LEDs do not really match the back-light of the LCD, but is instead almost pure white. This illumination is ALWAYS ON (energized), and is quite bright. In fact, probably TOO BRIGHT for use in a bedroom or entertainment room. It would be quite a bit more appropriate if this back-lighting would DIM considerably when not in direct use, as is the behavior of the LCD display. A small complaint, yes, but one that can be really annoying. This deficiency could easily be corrected in a subsequent model, I would hope. My only other concern is the placement of the access door for the battery cartridge, which is on the BOTTOM of the enclosure. While the quick connect / disconnect of the battery cartridge is very efficient, the placement of the door on the bottom of the UPS, is not. When it becomes necessary to replace the (hot-pluggable) battery cartridge, this location may pose a problem. If the unit is installed in a bookcase or on a loaded shelf, for instance, the UPS will need to be rotated 90 degrees to access the removable door, which then has to slide out of the retention grooves to allow the removal and insertion of the new battery pack. This may not be a very convenient operation to be required to be performed in such tight surroundings. If there were a way for the access to the battery cartridge to be located on the side of the enclosure, I believe it would be a very welcome alteration to an otherwise brilliant packaging design. Otherwise, very well done, Schneider-Electric / APC!

This one is high quality and does what it says it's does, and based on my research before buying this looks to be the best in its category. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recommended for gaming PC's where brownouts and blackouts can damage modern components If you've bought one of these, you know why they're good to have with a gaming PC especially, but any PC or other setup you want protected fully during brownouts and blackouts. I have a second one this size from another company. I use this one to power 5 monitors (3 of them are on my gaming PC) and a secondary PC system that has an i7 8700, 550W PSU, RTX 2060, 2x SSD's, 1x HD. The one I have from another company this size is used to protect a high-end gaming PC with a 1000W PSU, 3900X, Custom Water Loop, RX 6800XT, 5x SSD's, 1x HD. I gave this 4 stars because this one requires you to remove the battery cover and flip the battery around to make it ready to go before you plug it up. In other words, the battery is not charged when you get it which may or may not be a good thing. Regardless it works like it should for what I'm using it for. I get around 40 Minutes off the 5 monitors and the PC that is hooked up to it. I get roughly the same off the other brand for the big gaming PC. So ideally, if you'll looking at one of these for a gaming system, it'll give you enough time to power it off the right way during an outage and keep your system from potentially getting damaged from the surging that occurs on both the outage and the power coming back on. Not much else to say about it. The display panel gives you information about your draw, what your equipment hooked to it is actually using in wattage, time remaining on battery, battery level, etc. It's fairly straight forward. Sockets on one side for battery and on the other side for passthrough outlets like a power strip. It also has in/out for both ethernet and coaxial protection and a RJ-45 to USB for some software you can use to control it thru a PC if you choose.
